My flight was delayed by 2 hours, but Expedia confirmed with Sixt that a late-arrival note was added to my booking. When I arrived at the counter, the agent acknowledged my reservation but refused to honor it unless I paid nearly €500 more because they were out of cars. I declined. Instead of resolving the issue, they marked me as a "no-show" and won't issue a refund, even though I was standing at the counter with proof of my confirmed booking. I was left without a car and had to make a new reservation for a later date at additional cost. This is not customer service, it's a scam.

There are always enough service agents so waiting time is short enough. Their selection of cars is incredibly good and suits every budget. You can get the smallest Volkswagen, a luxurious S-Class and even the Jaguar F-Type sports car, they have it all on offer. The check in time takes around 5 minutes, you show them your reservation, credit card and drivers license, you sign and then you're good to go. The cars are parked in the car rental garage which is around 8 minutes walking distance from the counters. If you have reached a certain membership tier your car will be ready just in front of the terminal. The booking process is either done via their website or you can download their iPhone / Android app to your smartphone. Their app is really easy to use!

Booked my car (Audi…read moreA6 50 TDI) with Sixt in the hotel as opposed to the airport due to no "Premium Location Fee" and other fees and taxes. That alone saved me $300+ in the rental. I was able to collect my vehicle in about 5 minutes with no issues. Since the car was packed in the "Sixt" area, which was small, it was easy to find. I moved the car closer the lift and was able to pack it easily. Best part the lift goes from room floor to garage. I will definitely be back as it is way cheaper than picking up from the airport. I did not experience the vehicle return to the Sixt location at the Maritim Hotel due to last minute change in travel plans due to Covid-19.

I also received a second email for damages to the rental from a scratch on the front bumper they claimed was as a result of my rental. Even though the rental agreement, on pickup, had the same scratch indicated on it as previous damage. The damages for this scratch was over €500. Absurd. After going back and forth with them they threaten to take legal action if you don't pay the fraudulent claim for the desired amount they choose. Total scam! Stay away from this location and company all together.

They acknowledged the issue and claimed it was forwarded to their international team--but since then, complete silence. All I received was a copy of the rental agreement, which does nothing to resolve the actual problem. No updates, no accountability, and definitely no refund. Avis's customer support is useless once they've taken your money. The delay is unacceptable, and their lack of follow-through shows how little they value their customers--especially those renting internationally. If you're considering renting from Avis, don't. They are quick to charge and slow--or completely unwilling--to resolve issues. Save yourself the stress and choose a company that actually responds when something goes wrong.
