Whatever you do, do NOT use interra bill pay. Payments will get intercepted it will be a huge long process to figure out who intercepted your payment and bill pay takes no accountability to take care of any of the late fees that incurred on an account due to the payment interception. Horrible service they say well unfortunately it happens (payment interception) it's one thing for it to happen but it's your responsibility to take care of your consumers and I would have never had a late fee if my payment didn't get intercepted these people are a joke. read more

I was looking for a credit union that was closer to home so I decided to open a basic savings account here. I currently have two other financial institutions that I use, but they're a bit farther away. I was considering having direct deposit into a checking account until I discovered the FEES they charge regarding the balance. I do not overdraw my account and I have very good credit, so I found this to be a serious negative. The deposit I made to initially open the account was not a large amount. I waited for a bank card to arrive in the mail, but nothing came other than a welcome letter. A few weeks later I received my new bank statement and saw that they withdrew $10 from the savings account with the line item saying NEW ACCOUNT CHARGE. Really? For keeping MY money in a SAVINGS account? I decided it wasn't worth keeping the account open so I went to the Wakarusa branch to close it. There was one person at the counter being helped and another teller handling two cars in the drive thru. As I patiently waited, two people came in and waited as well. When the drive thru teller was finished with the two cars, she said in a very unfriendly tone that she could help me. I handed her my bank statement and told her that I wanted to close my account and she asked for my ID. She looked up my account wrote down a number, handed back my statement and told me have seat. Someone would be with me. I found a seat and waited 15 minutes until a woman said she could help me and walked me into a dark office. I told her I was closing my account and in a condescending voice she said all new accounts are charged a fee whether it's in person or online. I told her that's exactly why I'm closing it. Those fees are ridiculous. Her condescending tone continued and she was basically just speaking scripted words at that point. She handed me my money and I left. Never will I return. read more

Truly the worst bank and banking experience ever. For starters, they do nothing for you, merely act as if you're a nuisance. They tell you incorrect information. God forbid you lose your card, which I did. They'll charge you $34.00 for every transaction that overdraws you, and then they'll argue with you about "being responsible for your account." Awful. ive been a member of Interra /fbcu for more than 30 years and am appalled at how the service levels have declined over the years. I recently obtained a mortgage through Interra and it was without question, the most difficult process of any mortgage company that I've ever used. The process started out ok with an extremely responsive agent who was very helpful and informative. Unfortunately, after nearly 4 weeks of no communication, we learned that agent was no longer associated with Interra and we were assigned to another agent that proved to be communication challenged...... to say the least. Eventually the mortgage was processed but only with the assistance of our real estate agent who contacted Interra multiple times to urge activity on not only our mortgage but others as well. Not only did this agent fail to communicate appropriately, but also missed crucial deadlines after which she would email documents and demand immediate signature because they were past due. As an example of communication problems, the closing agent from the Title Company contacted us inquiring if the loan agent would be present for closing as they had not heard from her. Of course, we had no idea if she was attending given that she didn't bother to inform us that it was ready for closing. She did eventually show for closing, however the final straw was when she threatened to stop closing unless we agreed to sign that we had received an appraisal for the property (which she also had failed to send to us). I can't imagine Interra would condone such unethical or perhaps illegal behavior. Bottom line is that next time I would explore every other mortgage option before selecting Interra. In defense of Interra, I do highly recommend the commercial mortgage/lender division as that division is staffed by experienced professionals. Meanwhile, I would suggest Interra provide remedial training opportunities for agents relative to expectations of communication along with ethical and legal mandates. read more

They charge you for not having a certain amount in your account daily and they constantly reorganize transactions for things that then will result in overdrafts. Been here since before they were even called Interra but now I am leaving. read more

I had been an Interra Member for 30 years, but after a series of many, many, many sloppy clerical mistakes, I have to leave. It may make sense for people living in Northern Indiana, but certainly is not the best option for those of us out of state. read more

Really awful customer service. I had a loan, and they opened a savings account in my name that I didn't even want. Then charged a fee to this account that I never wanted, which caused it to be overdrafted. THEN on top of it, they make it difficult to close this account, telling me I have to go into a branch - and yet you could OPEN this account without me ever having set foot in a branch?!??? I switched recently to credit unions and love how they work. If you use a bank I suggest you withdraw your money and close your account and us a credit union as they work for the customer and their local area. Banks typically work for Wall Street. Another nice feature about credit unions is you can practically do all your transactions at any credit union such as withdrawing/depositing money. For example I am a member at Interra but can go to a Inova Credit Union and deposit a check. They typically have coffee inside for free. read more

I opened a car loan with Interra. So far I am just really unhappy with their online services and their customer service. There is a bug on their site that made it impossible to make payments online, so I had to call to make payments over the phone, which was a very inconvenient process. It's difficult and takes a while to actually get a person on the phone and get anything done. read more

I'm a long time member. After a small error on my part, I was short $1.50 for a withdrawal which was posted at 2:30 a.m. I was notified through their text alert service and made a transfer of funds online at 6:30 a.m. When Interra opened for business that morning, they processed the withdrawal first instead of the deposit. If they really were concerned with the financial well-being of their members, they would process ALL deposits first, ensuring the highest available balance in all accounts, then process withdrawals. I was charged NSF fee of $32 which they will not refund and I am closing my accounts because of this. Interra is just a localized incarnation of Bank of America. read more
