I go to Yelp to praise or complain so form and structure means little to me. However I guess I'll have to write more formally... I would like to respond to a demand letter that I received from an attorney's office on behalf of Interpret This, Inc. If this matter escalates beyond this Yelp page, I will gladly provide the chain of emails between my office and Interpret This, Inc. in court. I have not altered the previous posts nor will I. The purpose of my previous Yelp posts was to provide my opinion on Interpret This, Inc.'s services - I will not use their services in the future nor would I recommend them - I would, however, like to clarify my previous posts. In my 1/7/13 review, I wrote "I'm assuming they are getting more money and just decided to leave my client and my firm high and dry." - Please note that this statement is purely an assumption, not a statement of fact. However, I find it reasonable to believe that an interpreting service would chose to pursue a job with more hours (a trial) versus one with less hours (arbitration). While I understand the rationale behind this preference, I believe that my firm was the victim of this choice of profits over customer service. Again, this is a matter of my opinion, not a statement of fact. The following is a factual statement - My firm agreed and signed agreement papers for Interpret This, Inc. to provide interpreting services. If we had canceled their services less than 24 hours before the job, my firm would have owed them 2 hours worth of billing. However, if my firm canceled before 24 hours it seems no money would be owed. My firm was given 48 hours notice of cancellation by Interpret This, Inc and even if it was given 24 hours notice there was no penalty or recourse in the reverse. The following is a factual statement - As a result of Interpret This, Inc.'s cancellation on short notice, my firm was forced to find a new interpreting service on short notice (less than 48 hours). As a result, we had to pay a "rush fee" to the new court-certified interpreter. Thus, Interpret, Inc. did NOT charge my firm a single penny. As an indirect result of their cancellation of services, I was forced to pay a premium on interpreting services. Had Interpret This, Inc. fulfilled their initial invoice, I would have paid less money for interpreting services. My firm was forced to eat these costs. Thus my "overcharge" comment in my 1/15/13 follow up review. As a result of this frustration, I took my to personal Yelp account to vent my opinion of Interpret This, Inc. and their business practices. The interpreting service I used and paid a premium on was "horrible" and the experience of being canceled on last minute by Interpret This, Inc. was "horrible" thus my 1/15/13 comment "...which are horrible as well...". Interpret This, Inc. was NEVER used by my firm so I cannot comment on their quality. I might have written these reviews in anger and they might not have been crystal clear but I hope I have explained my opinion and the facts as I do not want to slander nor defame this business. I do still uphold my opinion that this company deserves a poor review as I believe I have every right to do so. read more

Interpret This, Inc. is my absolute go-to for interpretation/translation projects. I've used their services for over three years on all types of assignments: one-pagers, flyers, public signage, booklets, and in-person simultaneous interpretation. It's a small, local, woman owned-business which makes them more competitive- the staff understand the cultural and linguistic depth of their work and provide excellent guidance on translations, but also go the extra mile to support a richer understanding of your content. I often don't write online reviews but have had such a great experience with Interpret This Inc - and in particular, Theresa, that I had to share. I run a job readiness program for low-income recently arrived Vietnamese immigrants who face a huge myriad of challenges when it comes to succeeding in school, gaining job skills, and becoming self-sufficient. However, almost all of the curriculum we use is in English which makes it inaccessible - and sometimes counterproductive because it intimidates our clients - for some of the students and all of the parents due to limited or non-existing English skills. Upon hearing about this predicament, a colleague recommended Interpret This, Inc, and introduced Theresa to me. From there - it's been even smoother sailing than I could have hoped for! Theresa's willingness and commitment to quality and community created a successful collaborative relationship throughout the process. From the outset, she asked me about the program's overall goals, the needs and challenges of the clients, and discussed how we could evaluate the effectiveness of the translated materials so that we could improve upon any issues. Having used the translations from Interpret This, Inc over the past several months, I can honestly say that we would not have been able to run the classes and reach these families without such high quality materials. Our company, Lam's Seafood Market in Seattle, had an urgent request needing professional Vietnamese translation from English for our employees at our company meeting. We tried using an online service, but it was taking too long so we gave up on it the day before the meeting. I was referred to Interpret This from a friend and asked if it was possible to get something interpreted before our meeting the next day.
