I had visited Intermountain Smiles to have some implants put in over the course of the past year or so. While Dr.Young did great work with the actual process of getting the implants put in, the billing situation was as sharp as a root canal without the Novocain. My bill looked like a tax return and didn't resemble the costs that were agreed upon prior to this process kicking off. They refused to bill my insurance (for about 6 months until I asked my insurance provider reached out to them) for reasons unknown, did not provide procedure codes upo request, and were genuinely the worst to work with. The individual who runs their billing takes the cake for being the most confident yet least knowledgeable person in regard to how insurance works and exactly what they will and will not cover. Luckily my provider was able to have a 1:1 session with her to (hopefully but unlikely) get her up to speed on best billing practices moving forward. She's extremely rude and becomes increasingly so as you call her on her shady and unethical practices. I'm sure there will be some cutesy reply to this placing all the blame on me but at the end of the day I hope I can dissuade at least one person from going through what I went through with this place. This is a great dentist office! The staff is friendly and very helpful and Dr. Young is very knowledgeable. I had a dental emergency on a Sunday once, and Dr. Young came in to help me even though the office was closed. sadly this guy only cares about money, I had to change dentist because of insurance coverage, my last dentist was amazing, very customer service oriented and after a while he became more a friend than a doctor. My first experience with Dr Young left me dry, I went two more times and it never changed. he is all about money, will do everything they can to ramp up as much possible from your insurance and even when they go above and beyond what the insurance will cover they will not work with you. once again all they care about is money, not your health. read more

I was looking to have some cosmetic dental work done and found Benjamin Young on Google. I walked into his office and was pleasantly surprised. Debby was amazing, the dental assistants are so nice and Dr Young is also really great! I ended up going with him after seeing 4 other dentists and I am extremely happy with my results! I had to have a few adjustments but he was so great and didn't want me leaving until I was 100% happy. His office is clean, and up to date with all the latest technology. Dr. Young is the best! You can really tell that he cares about the work he is doing and the rest of his staff is super friendly. He has filled a few cavities for me (and repaired one that was poorly done by another dentist) which was great, but honestly the best work he has done was on my wife. She had to get veneers on her front teeth and they look very good and very natural. He really spent a lot of time making sure they looked the way she wanted and the whole experience was exceptional. Dr. Young and his staff have created a great dentist office. We've been going there for several years now for everything from kids with teeth knocked out to getting crowns to sensitive gums. They have been more than fair with us. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. And they have some great technology and professionalism. my experience has been poor with this practice. I went to this dentist when mine retired. I have had nothing but problems with over billing fluoride that I did not have, digital pics that the insurance did not pay. I had a cleaning done with an exam for pain, and one month latter had to have TWO root cannels that were missed. I had another two teeth pulled, and the service the insurance did not cover was ignored by the billing personnel requesting additional information from the dentist were never sent so they billed me for it. I got the final bill on a Friday, and the very next day got a collection notice from an outside agency! And now I am letting people know what my experience has been I just got another bill from the dentist office for quadruple of what the original bill was!!! They will end up paying my attorneys fee's but believe me when I say this is NOT the place you want to spend your hard earned money on. Buyer Beware!!! read more

Dr. Young does push procedures with scare tactics like: "If we don't do this now you'll need a root canal in a year". A few years ago I finally called BS and went to my wife's dentist. He did not mention that "cracked crown" that Young wanted to replace so I asked him about it. He said it's fine. There's a little chip but nothing to worry about. If it starts to bother you come in and we'll fix it. I decided right then and there that this guy is my dentist. And he was for about four years until I almost died choking on a drill bit. I finally coughed it up and handed it back to him and he said, oh, thank you. So, I went back to Dr. Young. I was running about 15 minutes late. I was expecting to see the familiar office manager who was an absolute blast to talk too, but instead walked into this scowling lady who said "You're Late!" I said yeah, traffics bad and I'm coming from Canyon Rim so it's a bit of a drive. She said "Well what time did you leave!!" I'm thinking am I really having this conversation. I said if it's a problem let's reschedule. No, she said, he'll see you now. I'm thinking WTF? Then when I was leaving she said it will be X amount. I said OK, just bill me. She said No. I said what do you mean No? She said you need to pay this today! I said you guys have always billed me. She said we don't do that anymore. I said we have HSA, you bill us, it show's up on our system we click a button and you're paid. She said yes but we don't see that money for a couple of months. Just then Dr. Young walks by and says it's ok we can bill him. Her face went bright red. She was livid. I said see you next time. A couple months ago I went in for a cleaning. He wanted to replace that "cracked" crown and add some anterior composite for 1,082.00. I have horrible dental insurance so I would be responsible for 536.60. I get to the front desk and Pat (I'll call her Pat I don't know her name, and I don't want to) said when do you want to come in for the crown? I said never. I need to schedule for the anterior composite but not the crown. She said does Dr. Young know this? Yes...I lied... but I didn't want to get bullied into it. I'm looking at the estimate and I see that I'm responsible for 57.60 on the composite. I said oh, that'll be a cheap visit 57.60. She said well you need to add 90 dollars to that. I said for what? Because you are not getting the crown. If you get the crown it's billed into that, but since you're not getting it, we need to add it to this procedure. Rather than get clarification I decided it was worth 90.00 to just walk away and not know what the hell she was talking about. The day before my appointment I had an opportunity that I could not pass up. I called first thing in the morning to cancel my appointment. I got the machine and left a message. She called back and said there is a 48 hour 75.00 broken appointment fee? (Which threw me, I've never heard a cancellation fee called a broken appointment fee.) Do you still want to break your appointment? Yes i said. I have too, but are you really going to charge me 75.00? She said yes. I said ok. Will you please delete us from your database. Myself and my wife. We'll find another dentist. She said do you want me to call your wife and talk to her? I'm thinking WTF? I said no. And please take us of your annoying email and text messaging list. If I receive one more email or text I will charge you a 75.00 nuisance fee. It's unfortunate Dr. Young has such a horrible front desk person. My wife will be spending nearly 9K on cosmetic dentistry this year and because of "Pat", you've lost our business. read more

I am so impressed with Intermountain Smiles staff all around. The receptionist is friendly and flexible. I have had to move appointments and it is no hassle and she is so nice. The hygienist is friendly and does a good job. She explains what she is doing and tells you what to work on and how. The assistants are friendly and educated and willing to explain things. Dr. Young takes the time to explain all procedures and I find it nice that he is helpful and detailed. The staff is very caring and understanding and cares about me personally. They make sure I am comfortable during all my procedures with a blanket, headphones, and a warm towel to wipe my face with at the end. I never feel rushed there and have always had a pleasant experience. This office is considerate, caring, and all around professional! read more
