Although the store was not closing for another hour and a half (and no other customers were there but me) - it seemed as though they were in a bit of rush and somewhat disinterested, asking me to come back on Saturday...That's actually never happened to me before. It felt very awkward and odd. So in case you are dying to know - I did NOT go back but I DO want to thank Gorman's for working with me and welcoming me from the moment I walked in - can't wait until my new furniture is delivered! (As an aside - if you saw/remember the movie Pretty Woman when she goes to the high end clothing store but wasn't welcomed there, that's what my experience at Home Interior Warehouse in Plymouth felt like to me).

We are in our twenties and felt like we were seriously neglected and judged here due to our younger age. We even dressed up nice to go to Ashley just so the sales associates would take us seriously. But no. We spent 20 minutes here testing out and discussing couches and not a single sales associate talked to us. Every other person in that store was helped except us (mind you, the store was not busy at all and probably had more sales people than customers). We even said hello to two passing workers to get their attention, and they just said hi and kept walking. Left feeling angry and judged. Would have been a customer, but never again.

But this Ashley location is spacious with a laid-back atmosphere. Furniture is displayed in various room designs that make it easy to find what you're looking for. But our experience leveled up when Jeffrey stepped in. He has decades of interior design knowledge, which was evident after talking with him for just a few minutes. I had brought pics of my living room, which he studied for a moment and then guided me directly to a couch that was in my price range and perfect for the room. Easy-peasy. I paid and was out the door with a skip in my step, and a $600 receipt in my pocket. As I excitedly await my couch delivery, I cannot recommend this Ashley Store enough; ask for Jeffrey and you'll be taken care of, forthright.

Fortunately there is a great furniture repair shop that fixed the recliner in a few minutes which probably would have taken them months. I also purchased a curio cabinet ftom them. a very expensive one, to hold my car collection. Big problems occurred. Sales person failed to tell me about weight restrictions. Anyway, when the delivery people put it together they put the weight level limits printed on the glass shelves in the back so I would not notice them. (Note: I did not notice the weight limits until the cabinet was ready to be picked up.) So after they set up the cabinet, I placed my model cars into the cabinet, and in less than one week, the glass shelves gave way. Company repair person came out 3 weeks later. and he said he could not fix the item. He told me that he could have the cabinet picked up but had no idea when. I doubted what he said based on the experience I had with the cabinet and chair because the cabinet it was completely broken. Almost all companies would not pick up an item that was very large and had a lot of damage. They would have no way to store it. I probably would not have gotten any money back either since I did not know the weight limits that the shelves could take since the delivery people put the weight limit deep inside the cabinet when they put in the shelves. Anyway, I had it picked up by a junk hauler. I recommend, that before you do anything business with this company, know everything about what you are purchasing. Do not trust their sales staff at this company to tell you all the details about what you may want to purchase because these sales people work mostly on commission.

Nice looking store and fun to generally browse. A little bit of an odd experience at this store…read morethough when visiting "on a mission". We were looking to visit Crate & Barrel in Novi to have the opportunity to check out some dining tables I had seen online. I wanted to get a sense of the look & feel in person. First off, the location/address on Yelp and Google Maps should be updated. We navigated to what is actually a La-Z-Boy store nearby Twelve Oaks mall. Took some searching to figure out the store is actually located inside the mall (Upper Level by Macy's). The dining table I was most interested in was super beat up in the store. It's a wood veneer, and the one they had on the floor had tons of scratches and dings on the surface. I asked if someone was available to help, as I had some questions about durability, delivery costs, warranties, lead time, etc. I think they must've been busy that day because I sort of felt like it was a burden to them to have someone to talk to me. I asked if we could demo the extension functionality of the table, a main part of why I wanted to see the table in person, to see how difficult/easy it was, and what that process was like to extend or shorten the table. It basically didn't work. I actually think the experience in person made me decide to not get the table. Wasn't clear (and I asked) if I were to buy it, if the table would get to that condition within months, years, etc. Was pitched a Crate & Barrel credit card while I was there.

I had a Goldilocks moment while shopping for a mattress with one of my dear friends. Gardner White in Novi has a beautiful showroom with tons of options for mattresses. They are also the Official Furniture & Mattress Store of the Detroit Lions. We went from one mattress to another trying the different firmness with their Aireloom brand. We were provided pillow covers to provide sanitary conditions when moving from mattress to mattress. We tried the different mattresses until like Goldielock we found the one that was "just right!" We started with one salesman and he was leaving for the evening. And just like that, he tagged in another salesman, Willie, who was a wealth of information. So we were not limited in time to make our decision. The value was reflected in the sale at the time, the free offers and the finance option. The 6 month sleep guarantee is a great pledge by Gardner White.

The damage was documented by the delivery team at the time of delivery, and we immediately rejected the furniture. Rather than issuing a full refund, Gardner White attempted to charge us a 25% restocking fee on furniture that arrived damaged. What was even more disappointing was the treatment we received from store management. Trey, the Novi store manager, was dismissive, unprofessional, and unwilling to take responsibility for a product that arrived defective. Instead of resolving the issue, we were pressured to accept repairs on brand-new furniture that had just been delivered. Fortunately, our credit card company reviewed the matter and refunded our payments after we disputed the charges. However, we remain represented by counsel and prepared to continue pursuing this matter should Gardner White challenge the outcome. No customer should have to fight this hard to avoid paying thousands of dollars for damaged merchandise. Based on our experience, I strongly recommend that consumers think carefully before doing business with Gardner White.
