Fresh clean modern decor with beautiful views of the bay from room, restaurants, pool, terrace and lobby. Everything clean and well appointed. Staff was so friendly and most helpful. It's a great location for a hotel. Located across the street from the Aircraft carrier Midway and a few minute walk to Seaport Village. A quick Uber ride to little Italy and many other fun activities. Enjoyed the stay.

Attended a professional conference at the Intercontinental recently. Great conference facilities. Very comfortable with that ample seating. Conference rooms and restrooms near conference rooms were impeccably clean. During break very good hors d'oeuvres were served along with coffee, tea and various soft drink drinks.

I stayed here bc I had a free weekend night stay via my Ambassador status w/ IHG. The property had some positives & negatives: Positives: On waterfront w/ great view from the top 18th Floor; Destiny checked in with me after check in to make sure everything was okay; Garrett, the bartender at the Layover bar at the pool was super cool; Eman, the bartender at Vistal on property was very friendly; Maritza in the lounge took great care of us. We found out she spent some time on Lāna'i, so we appreciated the Aloha. The lounge patio was a nice place to hang out after dinner; Negatives: I'm still trying to figure out what I receive for my high level status. The message said Welcome Amenity and room upgrade. The only amenity we received was some small cold drink and a towel. The room was not upgraded; $66 valet fee; The free weekend room was $50 more vs booking a regular Club Lounge access room. I already paid $225 for the Ambassador membership that includes a free night. There should be better disclosure that a free weekend room costs more, so that the customer knows the full cost of a "free" weekend night; Annoying electronic music nearby that started in the day on Sat, and carried on until late Sat night. Overall a positive stay bc of the good service. But as an aside re: IHG, I had a qualifying stay earlier in the year. However, I was not granted a free night bc I did not book the stay "properly", according to the property. I called IHG's Ambassador Hotline and they were supposed to respond re: the foregoing within 72 hours: No return call. I call the Hotline again to obtain a refund. I never received a return call again. I know I will not renew my Ambassador membership, bc I was lied to by a representative at IHG about how to redeem the free night. However, I am sitting on the fence whether I will stay at IHG properties going forward. Redeeming rewards requires much more effort vs the competition, and IHG does not give full disclosure vs Marriott, Hyatt & Hilton.

We had a little staycation here for to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Parking overnight was a bit steep, but that is normal for hotel stays. We didn't really have a chance to use any of the amenities, like the gym or pool. Our room was the perfect temperature and bed was pretty comfortable. A few days prior we also came here for the 4th of July Red, White, and Boom event. It was an all you can eat spread with tomahawk steak, sliders, and more! It was the perfect spot to watch the fireworks!

I've always stayed at the Residence Inn across the way and have always been curious what the Intercontinental is like. It is sad to report that this will be my first and last time staying in this hotel. The good: lots of parking, good location, clean bed and sheets, close to restaurants, and pet-friendly. The bad: parking is expensive, the elevator layout is weird, one of the nightstand plugs did not work (there are about 3/4 plugs per stand), the TV stopped working and kept having a "rebooting" message, you can't use the refrigerator because it's packed with drinks that you have to pay for, the front desk phone number is dead at certain times in the evening, probably because when I checked in, the front desk employee was watching videos on his phone, etc. Let's say there were more cons than pros. I was there for only a couple of days, and thank God it was only a couple of days. On a good note, we saw fireworks since it was Labor Day weekend. If you don't want all the hidden or sneaky extra charges go to the Residence Inn across the way. 100 times better!

Downgrading my review to 1 Corporate replied to my email on Day 1, promising someone would "make things right." During my entire 3D/2N stay, no one ever contacted me. At checkout, I got explicit confirmation: my room was a Classic. So instead of the guaranteed Ambassador upgrade, I was actually downgraded from what I booked - a Premium. Compensation? Just 10K points. That's what InterCon usually give when there's no upgrade - but I was ALSO downgraded. How does that make sense? And Noah at the Front Desk - calling you out. If you're new, fine, but why were you handling the Ambassador check-in desk? Lessons learned: I guess I have to switch loyalties whenever I am in San Diego.

We arrived the lobby of this property before regular check in time, shortly after we landed in San Diego. Thanks to our ambassadors status, our room was ready for us ahead of time. We then proceeded to enjoy our lunch on the terrace. We ordered rock fish tacos, tuna tostadas, guacamole, and flatbread. All the items, including those from the happy hour menu (available starting at 1pm), were fantastic. The overall hotel was modern and clean. We enjoyed the spacious and comfortable room. As a runner, I appreciated the spacious fitness center with multiple foam rollers and fresh fruits. The staff was friendly and helpful, ensuring that we have a pleasant stay.

The hotel is located near the USS Midway museum. Our stay over the weekend was nice mini vacation from OC. The hotel was decorated nicely for the holidays. The staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the accommodations and services available. We had a good time using the amenities at the hotel like the fitness center and patio restaurant and bar.

We stayed at Intercontinental San Diego in December and are still talking about the wonderful service and spectacular views from our guest room. In/out parking was very convenient and the proximity to SS Midway was ideal! I've been in the hospitality industry for decades and RECOMMEND this beautiful and well managed hotel.

Lovely views clean room. I'm not sure if the breakfast restaurant is part of the hotel or a separate entity, but I did have bad service there. Our server was taking way too long. I was without coffee for a while and needed salsa for my omelette, and by the time I got it, my food was cold.

I was here for a conference so didn't stay in a room, but the conference rooms, restaurants and pool deck were all pretty great! Staff was helpful and friendly.

I was waiting in the loony for my fiends and the staff made sure I was well taken care of. They gave me a bottle of water and mor wheat once asked how I was and if they could help. A classy place that is always worth the toile to visit.

This hotel is VERY dog friendly, in the sense that everyone was truly welcoming of our two pups so they get 5 stars out of the gate. Checkin was great and our room on the 14th floor was clean, comfortable with a great view. Location is excellent and walkable to so much. Fantastic grass area for pups on the west side of hotel/harbor side. We had three wonderful nights here, all the staff we encountered were warm and friendly. The Byredo products in the room were a big win with me and smelled fabulous. The restaurant off the left by has a pup friendly patio and great service. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Ask the Community - InterContinental San Diego

I live locally and will pick up a friend staying there. Is there a driveway in which they can meet me in front?

Nice roundabout valet area to pick up your friend if I recall accurately!

Does the property have a EV charger?

Yes it does inside the parking garage.

I want to avoid the construction view , what side of the building / rooms should i ask for?

The construction is not too bad at this point and the project buildings are enclosed at this point. To completely avoid any construction site views, ask for the North side of the building for your guestroom location

Hello, Is the self parking at the hotel in and out privilege for the daily parking?

Yes, you can come and go as you wish

Is the pool heated?? Visiting this weekend with my kids. Also hours of pool? How much is bed& breakfast if I wanna add?

The fourth floor rooftop pool is heated to 80-82 degrees year round and has a great view of the harbor. Access is 24/7 with room key. I would not recommend breakfast here, as there are 50+ restaurants within kid-walking distance (0.3 miles). Also… Read more

Is there airport shuttle service and what time available?

No. But there is a city bus (Route 922) that stops right at the hotel and goes to the airport or use rideshare. I've always used that bus and had no problems. And it is just as fast as waiting for rideshare etc

How much is parking?

$39/night now

Is the gym currently open?

Hi Brian, Effective today we have been allowed to open our fitness center with a maximum of 10% capacity, which would allow no more than 8 people at a time in the fitness center.

Free parking on premises?

Hello! We paid $21 per day for parking. Idk if there tus free parking close by.

Is this hotel ok for children?

Hi Grace, Yes, we do have plenty of families here during the summer time in particular. We have an outdoor pool, Gelato shop and large lawn area in front of the hotel that the kids do enjoy.

Is the pool heated?

I am so happy I found this place via AARP! Located in the heart of the Gaslamp District, I had never heard of this hotel prior to searching. Upon checking in, the desk clerk was very friendly, efficient, and answered any questions that I had. As for the room, he put us up on the top (4th) floor. Room is the perfect size for two people. Very clean, warm, inviting, and has some really cute and convenient amenities such as a pineapple themed USB quad port at the desk, along with a Keurig machine (had I known that I'd have brought my own Starbucks K-cups)! The bed was nice and comfy with lots of soft but supportive pillows and two separate comforter blankets so you're not fighting for covers if you are sharing the bed with someone or your significant other. Bathroom is very modern and clean. A hairdryer is hanging in the bathroom as well. The only item missing was an iron and an ironing board; however, you can request that at the front desk. If you are looking for a hotel with a gym, laundry facilities on site, and a full breakfast buffet or continental breakfast, then this place is not for you; however, if those things don't matter to you {I typically look for those types of hotels during a longer stay) then this hotel is all you need. You also get other unexpected creature comforts such as Starbucks coffee in the lounge along with 4 different blends of water as well as these cute pineapple cookies in the afternoon. Based in Seattle, WA, I am so happy I found this chain as I will be on the lookout and consider staying in other cities. Parking is available in a garage connected to the hotel next door for a fee. Also, bikes are available in the lobby for getting around (not sure if gratis or for a fee). I definitely recommend staying here! One small recommendation for the hotel: provide rooms with a small microwave and mini fridge to reheat leftovers. It all worked out as I gave a homeless guy mine.

I've stayed in Gaslamp before, so my hope was that at a minimum this would be a safe and comfortable spot to rest my head. Honestly, they totally met my expectations and then some (not a lot, mind you, but some). The staff were super friendly, even offering my companion and I flowers for Women's History Month and the lobby amenities included a water station and complementary cookies (pineapple shaped, of course). The rooms weren't super spacious but it was enough for a night and they were clean and safe, which is the most important part. Note: there is no parking attached to the hotel! Your best bet is a public lot called Park it on Market about a block away. It's $21 to park overnight and you can book in advance (which I highly recommend because it can sell out).

Every detail, from the rooms to the amenities, reflects quality and attention to detail. You can tell this is a hotel that takes pride in delivering a premium experience. The American Express benefits made a real difference--early check-in, late checkout, and added perks that made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. It's absolutely worth it. GOOD: Great pool…read morearea and breakfast BAD: Early check in not available. Cum on the couches in rooms 904 and 922. Gross. I ended up cleaning the couch in 904 (and keeping the room) because it had the better view. Price tags on shampoo bottles, robes, and everything in the room. Cheap. $60 FHR breakfast credit -- cheap. FHR credits exclude gratuities -- cheap. Mattress -- fine. Bathroom lightbulbs -- out. No turn down service -- you have to place a phone call to request it. Cheap. The worst hotel lobby of any 5 star hotel I have been to. Massive check in area and a small spot with couches -- strange. The weird skinny hallway that leads from check in to the rooms, the convention space(s), and the dining options appears to be a repurposed service hallway. Cramped, poor taste. OVERALL: The whole experience felt like the tail end of the Pre Cameo Mr. C's hotel experience in Beverly hills. Moderately appointed, yet unremarkable. Back to basics: cum on the couches....? Perhaps a room upgrade or dining credit? If management were not so cheap, associates would feel empowered to pamper and provide solutions. It's a Pendry. Waters in the room which was nice. Coffee and fridge available. Seating area as well, nothing I can complain about (other than the restroom sliding door). Loved the art work in the room that is baseball themed, our room was two ladies playing with one sliding into home plate! There is a pool bar on the 6th floor that had a great view and it was large and nicely laid out for guests. The bar was a good size and service was exceptional. The room was clearly not cleaned. I went back to the front desk expecting a quick solution, only to be moved into a second room that was somehow worse than the first. At that point I had zero confidence in this hotel's cleanliness or standards. When I spoke with management, specifically Helena and Ashley, the experience went from bad to unbelievable. Helena responded with sarcasm and dismissiveness and actually laughed while I explained that both rooms were dirty. Being laughed at while raising legitimate concerns is completely unacceptable. She brushed the situation off and said she would pass it along to her director, which appeared to be nothing more than a deflection. There was no follow up, no effort to fix the issue, and no concern shown at all. I paid to stay in a hotel and was instead shuffled between dirty rooms while being treated disrespectfully by management. This was not just poor service. It was insulting. If you care about cleanliness, professionalism, or basic respect as a guest, I strongly advise avoiding this hotel. This experience was a complete failure from start to finish.
