Costco had repeatedly texted me that my glasses were ready, so I came in specifically to pick them up. There was no line, and staff had time to speak with me, but I was told I would have to wait while they finished assisting another customer. I explained that I could not wait. If Costco is going to repeatedly notify customers that their glasses are ready for pickup, I believe there should be a reasonable way for someone to simply hand over glasses that have already been purchased and paid for. Customers picking up completed orders should not feel like they have become unimportant once the sale is finished. Unfortunately, that was the message I took away from my experience today: the attention was there before the purchase, but not after. I would recommend buying glasses from an optical provider that makes customers feel valued both before and after they pay.

He tried once more and then he set it aside and said that he would need to go to the guest service and see about finding the price. We were cool with it except for the fact that the manager on duty (we will call him H) stared at the worker and saw him struggle all 3 times and then gave him a number for the item and it still could not be found. Also, the staff there was very friendly. I asked the meat guy about the briskets there and he was happy to point out all the options. I was trying to find protein drinks and the Costco worker showed me some real southern hospitality. From the moment you walk in, you can look 360 degrees around you and find all kinds of interesting things. Pictures, figures, frames, mannequins, signs, furniture, and the list goes on. The people there are extremely friendly and willing to help find what you may have come for, if they have it. They have wish lists and will keep you in mind if they come across that odd item you just need to have. This isn't like any antique or home decor place you've been to. This place is a feast for the senses. We ended up leaving with 2 signs, an old stained glass window, and 4 display figures. We'll be going back soon since they get stuff in frequently. I was an hour and half south of us but well worth the trip! 1/29/13 - UPDATE Apparently they are going out of buisness? We went down there on Sunday after not having visited in a while. We were sad to see signs on the outside advertising the closing. Nothing on the website gave any indication of this. We tried to inquire a number of times about their status and whether or not they were closing or moving. We got the brush off each time so who knows what they are doing. The "sale" started in November so there really isn't much of anything left. Sad. This place was great and we've bought quite a bit from them. Oh well. :(

Looking at the reviews here I have to laugh at a good many of them which have comments that reflect obvious cases of people who are just unhappy or have poor interaction skills and just want to share their unhappiness. In Costco, as in life, if you want a positive result, concentrate of getting a positive result. It is possible at this Costco and in most situations. Our approach largely affects our outcomes.

Yesterday I self-scanned probably $700 worth of merchandise. I had exactly 4 items left in my cart…read morewhen the scanner went down. The woman came over and said I needed to use a different register. I asked her if I needed to re-scan everything I had already scanned. She said yes. I walked out. Today I drove almost 2 hours (4 hours round trip) to go to Costco to get the same items I was planning on buying yesterday. About a month ago I got there at exactly 8 AM to shop (not $700 that time). As I was leaving the guy ahead of me at the check-out probably did have $700 worth of merchandise. The woman at the door seemed to be checking EVERY item in his cart against his register slip. I went around and headed for the door. She yelled at me that I needed to stop and have my cart checked. A second employee also yelled the same thing. I turned and told them both that I wasn't an employee of theirs and that if they didn't trust me then they needed to hire more people on the registers. Absolutely the worst shopping experiences of my 77 years. I can only hope Costco opens a store closer to home.
