I went here to get a dress altered and they did a great job. It was a long dress and I wanted it shorter and they did exactly what I wanted. It was $22 which I have no idea if that's a good price or not but I would pay whatever just for their customer service and work. The owners are great people, very kind. Oh boy, this one is hard to write. First of all I'd like to say that I had an experience here about 5 years ago and it was positive. I had the rise of some dress pants altered and they came out quite well. So I didn't hesitate to take 2 oxfords, a Henley, and a Polo shirt to her. I'm a short guy, so I needed them taken up an inch or possibly 2. I went in and tried them on for her and she seemed very disinterested. Alarm #1: I should have left. On the Polo she kept talking about the fabric it was made of, and how hard it was to work with. I started to say, "what fabric, cotton?" It was cotton! She didn't pin anything up on any of the shirts, just made a mark with some chalk, and it all seemed like I was a "low end" customer and needed dealt with quickly, she had no input or offered no opinions on the shortening and how it would make the shirt fit etc. Alarm #2: I should have left. I think a tailor should at least pin the shirt and let you see what it will look like. So to keep this short she charged 20 bucks a shirt, 4 shirts, 80 dollars. I didn't know this until I came back in for sure, but I informed her before I left I could do 80-85 bucks. She told me how busy she was and tried to push it out 14 days, but I told her I needed them sooner if possible, I didn't have many shirts. So 8 days later they called (it was her husband who is very dry to be honest). I walked in and he handed me the shirts and said "80 Dollars". I handed him a hundred and immediately could tell something was up with the oxfords, they looked SO SHORT. He gave me back $20 in change. She was in the dressing room talking to a girl about her dress, so I didn't see her. Alarm #3: I should have said something and waited to talk to her in person, and even tried them on there. So I went home and tried them on. OH MAN. Both of the oxfords ruined. They were far too short with the sleeves hanging about 3-4 inches below the front of the shirts. Also the front of the shirts were at least 2 inches shorter than the back! No way to wear these things untucked, and now no way to wear them tucked because they won't stay in. The Polo and the Henley were OK (I think, I've only tried them on once but I think they looked good). So I lost about $90 in shirts (they still had the tags on them), and I lost the money to tailor them, so about $130 if you deduct the 2 she did well on. Now I take my share of the blame - all of the alarm points in this review were lessons learned I should have heeded them. I figured I would just put up this review to warn others and maybe you can learn from my mistakes too. I don't typically write reviews but this was over the top bad. FINAL THOUGHTS: If you are a man I recommend not going here. She seemed to be really attentive to the women (I had to wait that first day and she was really helping a woman with her bridesmaid dress). I think this is her forte and she might do well in the arena, but for the men I'd find somewhere else. I got really upset and disappointed at first but my grandma used to say "I'd rather be the cheated than the cheater", I agree. Also, maybe I should have been more forceful and a stronger customer, but in the end she was supposed to be the professional and help ME. Anyway, I can at least warn others, and that's what this is, a warning. read more
