Since the film was made for IMAX 70mm, we decided to make the drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles specifically to see it at the TCL Chinese Theatre. We ended up choosing the 7 a.m. showing, which honestly worked out better than expected. There were plenty of seats available, and it allowed us to enjoy the movie without feeling rushed while still making it back to Las Vegas at a reasonable time. Yes, it meant waking up early, but some movie experiences are worth the extra effort. The TCL Chinese Theatre is one of those places that instantly makes you stop and admire your surroundings. Walking inside feels like stepping into a piece of Hollywood history. The architecture is beautiful, the atmosphere is grand, and there's something special about knowing so many iconic premieres have taken place there. It's much more than just a movie theater; it's a landmark. Seeing The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm was incredible. The picture quality was stunning, and the surround sound was remarkable. Every scene felt immersive, and the scale of the film truly came alive on the giant screen. This is exactly the type of movie that deserves to be experienced in a theater like this. I do hope the TCL Chinese Theatre continues investing in preserving and updating the property. As a historic Hollywood icon, it deserves continued care so future generations can enjoy the same magic. The theater already has so much character and charm, and maintaining landmarks like this is incredibly important. What started as a simple movie outing turned into one of our favorite day trips. The TCL Chinese Theatre itself is a historical theater, which can be good or bad depending on what you are looking for. The inside is super interesting - very "old school" Hollywood. The adjacent mall provides validated parking for $3 and is also fun to explore. The downside is that it's an old movie theater, so sound quality isn't the best. I also had to crawl over multiple people to get to my seat on the far right side, because there were no stairs on the right. I don't know if this would be my go-to IMAX theater, but I think it's worth watching a movie here at least once.

I attended a showing of the Mel Brooks 1991 classic "Life Stinks" which was excellent and not a typical Brooks comedy as it also thoughtfully addressed the homeless crisis which has only gotten worse since 1991 unfortunately. I'm a big Lesley Ann Warren fan and she was gracious enough to do a fascinating Q & A with a movie professor after the showing. I liked that unlike many movie stars she didnt rush it and spent a good hour talking about making the movie with some cool insider stories. The icing on the cake is I got to meet her afterwards and get her autograph and photos with her(she was really nice and looked great). Highly recommended theatre for movie fans.

It's such a nostalgic movie theater with a person at the one box office who greets you warmly and is nicely dressed in a vest, the cartoon countdown from 10 minutes to it's time for the show, a classic confessions person taking your food and drink orders to the detailed orientated rugs and fun designed lighting fixtures. The restrooms are clean and modernized. The lighting could be a bit brighter. Inside of the theaters is a fun experience. It's as if we're transported back in time with it's art deco style on the walls, plush and roommy seats that start with many seats in the back then goes to two seater aisles the closer one gets to the screen. The screen it self is hidden behind a plush or velvet curtain until it's time to watch the other movie previews, watch a cartoon about going to the concession booth or the hilarious "Turn Off Your Cellular Phones" Victorian opera style. I caught a matinee which was a great price and the other attendees enjoyed the movie! I love this theater!

Walk like an Egyptian…read more ...Into the Egyptian Theatre better known as Grauman's Egyptian Theatre or simply the Egyptian, especially to locals and natives of the Greater LA area. Hollywood's Egyptian is a historic landmark on Hollywood Blvd. It's a cinema hub and an absolute must for anyone. I've seen so many great films here over the years and run into so many cool actors, actress, filmmakers and people of note. Even sat one seat over from Rose McGowan and her assistant during the TCM film fest one year. As of 2020 Netflix owns the theatre and showcases their project here. And lots of current and classic films like Taxi Driver, Gaslight (1944), LA LA Land, Terminator 2, Spirited Away, Nope, and numerous others. They undergo preservation and renovations periods from time to time and are actually closed for the summer of 2026 due to technical upgrades, but will reopen in the fall. Even though the main screening area, aka the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre, can hold up to 516 people, it feels intimate and spacious all at once - very grand and very Hollywood. There's a smaller 78 person theater as well, known as the Steven Spielberg Theatre. I believe it's used more so for private screenings than anything. Concessions are thoughtful, somewhat limited and a touch pricey. Normally, tickets themselves for shows start at around $15. However, they are only $12 for students, children and seniors. Restrooms are ADA accessible on the main floor. General restrooms are actually downstairs. The Egyptian is typically open up to 30 minutes or so before shows, though during the Turner Classic Movie Film Festival and other events hours can vary. Love going to screenings and events here when possible, looking forward to my next movie going experience here in the future.

One of the guards passed out our parking validation and said "Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you enjoy your night," but did not tell us of it being completely full. We weren't told this until a half an hour later after the event had started. They took joy in yanking our chains. No restrooms available too! I am contemplating canceling my Netflix subscription, as well as not cast a single vote for ANY NETFLIX SHOW!!! NO TO NETFLIX.

A backdrop was set up for pics. They also had a green screen set up so guests could take a pic and be digitally placed in a scene of the movie. I thought that was cool. They also offered free popcorn with a fountain drink. Ordered a "Ginger Margarita" at the bar before entering the theater. It was about $21 for cocktail. Wish I would've purchased the "Cutwater" instead. For $10 or $11 it would've been better sipping on that than the 21oz or 24 oz drink. Being that they fill the cup with ice, you're not getting as much of a drink as you think. Didn't have any issues getting thru and having my wristband checked. Was able to just walk on thru. The theater I was in was clean. Found a comfortable seat up top. The movie was better than I expected. The theater itself is really nice. I would come back.

It's a 1923 built building which makes it cooler. It only shows one movie because there's only 1 screen. The staff was great and they seemed happy to be there. I ordered popcorn and a Coke Zero, great tasting popcorn. Reasonable pricing on the snacks. The inside is so cool and vintage as you can imagine. Try it out it's a cool experience.

I had to see Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" at this theater in Los Feliz. You could pay at the box office or order your tickets on the website. I bought my ticket online and just had my QR code scanned at the theater entrance by an employee with an iPad. Walked into the lobby and joined the line for the concessions stand. There is popcorn, candy, soft drinks and also adult beverages: beer and wine. After getting my popcorn I walked into the huge theater and it was amazing. Egyptian style architecture, a huge closed red curtain that hides the screen and the seats a comfortable with ample leg room. The same employee that scanned my online ticket came to the front of the movie screen and greeted us with a warm hello, introduced the film, told us proper movie etiquette (no filming or taking pictures of the movie and to please take your trash out with you when you leave the theater) and let us know there was 15 minutes of previews including a Bugs Bunny cartoon. So cool! Will definitely come back to watch more movies here!

I love how they support indie films, so I will definitely be back!

I've watched Supergirl, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day here. With two of those movies getting the true IMAX treatment. The good: Like I mentioned, it's got a true IMAX theater. This place is huge as well. They have displays and I believe some of these displays have actual costumes worn in the movies. So it's kind of like you're visiting a museum and going to a great movie theater. The decor is nice. It feels kind of mid-century when you go upstairs. The employees here are fantastic and they're probably so used to be high-level service because this theater gets a lot of traffic. If you were a big fan of that movie going experience and vibe pre-pandemic you most certainly will get it here in the popular releases with big audiences. The bad: It's located within Universal City walk so it's a pain to get here. You have to pay for parking even though the theater gives you a partial rebate. Once you park, there's a long walk to the actual theater and you have to go through a security screening similar to an airport. Overall, the experience is fantastic, and the positives greatly outweigh the negatives, even though it still gives me pause to see most movies here.

Our movie tickets only came out to ~$5 with the rebate, so you essentially pay $5 for parking. Theater 17 was spacious and had recliners, but the leather on the seats are pretty run down. The rest of the theater is very nice...nice lounge areas with tv's, bar on the 2nd floor, large concession on the ground floor. Frames of Hollywood movie classics are a nice touch! We ordered popcorn and nachos....your average fair. The jalapeños were super fresh and crunchy! Service was kind and friendly. From the box office, ticket entry, and concession, excellent customer service!
