As a Muay Thai beginner I decided to give this gym a try because it was literally the only place that had 5-star reviews from 50+ people (which in my opinion is usually a little suspicious). I reached out to Coach Manny to visit the gym for a free class and he was immediately responsive and helpful. When you try anything new for the first time you are bound to feel awkward and uncomfortable but the sense of community that is fostered within this gym by other members and Coach Manny himself will make you want to keep showing up to the gym and for yourself. It was Coach Manny's cozy gym, welcoming community of members, and the time coach took after class to talk with me to get to know me a little bit that sold me. I signed up same day and was able to buy some really cool gear so I could keep coming back. I've now been going to Instinct for almost 2 months and I have been able to attend Coach Manny's fundamental Muay thai and Boxing classes as well as an Advanced Muay Thai class. During class, Coach demonstrates every technique and combo and gives clear instruction for students before each round. I love that he is constantly circulating the room to give pointers to students. In addition to Instinct's membership, I have also taken advantage of personal training with Coach Manny to speed up my knowledge of Muay Thai and Boxing techniques and lose weight. I definitely enjoy the 1-on-1 time to really understand what I am doing wrong. I like that Coach takes a problem solving approach to find out why my technique is wrong and then explains the right way to do it. I appreciate that by the end of each session he questions you on what you learned to reinforce the lessons of the session. Above all else, Coach Manny really loves what he does and it shows in every aspect of his gym. He is dedicated, extremely knowledgeable, wonderfully compassionate, and incredibly empathetic. Also, the gym members are some of the nicest and most interesting people I have met...even when you are sparring and getting punch in the face people give words of encouragement and advice on how to improve defense/offense. As Coach Manny said on my first day: "You're uncomfortable? Good. It means you're growing". Those words erased my suspicion of his 5-star rating and made me feel like I came to the right place. I'v been training with Coach Manny for almost 5 years now, and you won't find another coach more dedicated to the success and growth of his students.
