I am not an artist and don't consider myself creative, so I was a bit nervous, but it turned out just fine. You can book and pay online, after choosing the day by whatever painting you want to create. All you need to bring is your own wine; they have available corkscrews and stemless glasses. We were able to make a reservation ahead of time and they had our table all set up when we arrived. The owner and one of the employees were so welcoming, and they gave us a quick overview of where to find everything. They have tons of pottery pieces to pick from and the prices of each piece are labeled on the shelf. You pick what you want to paint and away you go! They had tons of supplies - brushes, paints, stencils, stamps, etc. We had coffees from across the street and were able to bring those in. Music was great and just added to the overall experience. When you are done, you turn your pieces in for firing and they give you a pickup date for the finished product about 14 days out (currently). I am excited to see how our artwork turned out.

Lisa is an incredible instructor and guides you through the entire process step by step until the painting is complete. We decided which painting we wanted to paint prior to the class. When we arrived our easels were ready with a blank canvas along with all the supplies we needed to paint the picture. It's very important to arrive on time so no steps are missed. We did have a few ladies that did arrive a little late but they were able to catch up. If you want to bring snacks and drinks, you are able to do so. Everyone left with a beautiful painting that they didn't think they could paint. I highly recommend this business and plan to return on my own.

It was getting within a week of the date and I still didn't get a confirmation. I called the place AT LEAST 12 times and sent 2 emails and still no response, because the mailbox was full and nobody ever answered the phone. Since I was bringing 8 people, I needed to confirm. So I drove to the place (which was supposed to be open, but was closed) and left a note, written on a napkin (saying PLEASE CALL AND CONFIRM) and placed it under a rock in front of the door. I spent at least an hour, if not more, trying to confirm this party. After the note, I finally got a phone call. NO APOLOGIES for the inconvenience were given. The person just said that there phones weren't working. Additionally, the painting instructor was very kind, but young and NOT VERY INSTRUCTIVE. She said, "Paint flowers at the bottom." Well, I want to know HOW to paint flowers! My painting looked like a 5 year old. When I went to another studio in Worthington about a year ago, I left with a beautiful painting because the instructor gave us all very detailed instructions and SHOWED us how to paint, instead of TELLING us what to paint. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

I would love to be more like her if I wasn't so much like me. Haha! While it was quite a way for me to drive (from Grandview), I started seeing it as my little escape. Given the nature of yoga, obviously no cell-phone are allowed so my connection to the outside world was nixed (happily) and while the trek through rush-hour traffic was tought, it was always well worth it in the end. While I didn't find anyone else taking the class particularly approachable or quick to befriend, in a weird way it was another (positive) element to my 'escape'. I didn't have to engage in surface conversation, make promises to call, or say goodbyes to anyone as I left. Easy in and out and feeling better than I did before. There were so many AWESOME classes offered at the Arts Castle aside from Yoga...jewelry making, wine tasting, puppetry, tai chi, music, Lapidary and more! I would take them all if I could afford it! This is a gorgeous little town, a gorgeous building (literally looks like a castle) and a great place to escape.

They care about the kids, and I have no idea how they have the patience to herd cats. Classes are fun, recitals are impressive, they have short classes and camps during the summer that K loves. There's a little shop here, handy in a pinch and prices are competitive with other shops in town. So glad we found it.

For the non-competition groups, they have recitals once a year in June. We will be a Pinnell family for years to come.
