Before posting this review, I have tried contacting the owner several times about child safety -- with no response. Here are a couple of child safety issues I have observed: -- Instance #1: About two months ago on a week night, a one and a half year old ran out from the kids center. And due to short staffing, it wasn't noticed by staff members. Luckily, I stopped the child from running out to the gym floor. When I brought this to the director's attention, (Cindy), she said that it never happened because the cameras didn't see it happen. Scoffing and rolling her eyes. She then got back on her tablet, and ignored me. --Instance #2: The child care was short staffed. When this happens, they put the older kids with the infants/toddlers. On a few of those instances, other parents and I, have seen the older kids hurt the smaller children (violently at times). After witnessing this, I tried to find the Director and she was no where to be found. She was on "Break". -- Instance #3: Last night (4/7/26) at roughly 5:15 pm. There was one staff member to probably 20 kids. I tried to talk to the director. Once again, she rudely rolled her eyes at me. Then her and the front desk girl started laughing and mocking me. And said within earshot, "What's her f**** problem". Hopefully after posting this review the, child safety issues are addressed. And the employee culture as well. ***Review update: The owner finally contacted me, and he said all the right things. I will update the review further if changes regarding the safety issues and toxic employee culture are truly addressed. ***

I was also pretty impressed with the props, as I know they had next to zero budget. The gym itself was freezing, but they had some snacks. At least it gave you some energy to try and stay warm The fee was $8 per person. The parking lot was dark, and we thought there is nothing going on inside the building.

People yelled at us for blocking their view the ENTIRE show despite signs everywhere saying you're allowed to stand if you want. We decided to go again this summer and with the new rules, only beach towels are allowed. I measured my towels and they were the allowed size, 30x60! But then when we got to the security line, the guy stretched it out and decided it was too big. So once again I was left with nothing to sit on. I was pretty mad to see other people made it in with big blankets, which are specifically not allowed! Also, they used to ban chairs with legs because they blocked people's view but now the chairs you can rent have tall legs....so it's OK to block views as long as Mcmenamins is making money. It's just so ridiculous. They also charge twice the price for drinks you can get 20 feet away inside the main bars/hotel/restaurant.

To my surprise, I kept seeing Cha Cha engaging people in little and large pods everywhere. She engaged young children balance plastic plates on tall sticks, wave very large ribbons around in the air, join hands for circle games....... Cha Cha also walked around on stilts and did cool things with those long ribbons. She was everywhere. I received several comments from vendors who observed Cha Cha working very hard and bringing smiles to Festival goers. She is very professional and very worth the price. Cha Cha is a SE Portland resident and also has a very musical husband and teenagers. We also hired her husband's band "7 Bridges"

To make matters worse, my wife was met with aggressive rudeness when she visited the businesss during "open" business hours. The staff's unprofessional behavior and unhelpful attitude are unacceptable, especially when trying to cancel a membership. The fact that the staff member was uncooperative and helpful, making the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult, is disappointing. Additionally, the hours of operation listed on Yelp differ from those listed on Google and the facility's website, showcasing a need for more attention to detail, organization, and pride in one's business. I cannot recommend NW Gymnastics Training Center to anyone looking for a responsive and organized gymnastics training center.At this point, any response from the business other than a simple sorry is just should be noted as attention diversion or a lack of acceptance of ownership of the poorly behaved staff and owner, as described in nearly half of the reviews. Each week they travel (pretend) to a different state to learn about things that stand out in history, events, or places.
