Been coming to this location for 20 years and have seen the gym go through many changes, especially…read moreduring COVID. Typically I'm here to swim laps and take water aerobics, so can't comment on the gym classes or equipment. Itzel teaches water aerobics M-W_F at 9am and her classes are packed largely due to her energy and the workout everyone gets. It's hard to keep a class fresh when it's three times a week, but Itzel manages to keep everyone engaged with excellent, varied music, exercises, and her smile and energy. For lap swimming, this is my favorite pool because it's much longer than the other LA Fitness locations At 25 meters vs 25 yards, which really makes a difference. There are 3 lanes, which swimmers split, and rarely do you have to wait for a lane unless you want to swim at 10am on M-W-F right after water aerobics when many people stay in the pool to continue their workouts. The showers, sauna and locker rooms are relatively clean. I say relatively, because it depends on the volume and the cleanliness of those using these spaces. I will say the woman who cleans the ladies locker room works her bitt off and is always sanitizing and wiping things clean.

They asked us both to have a seat then, after some time, they called the other person back before me (despite me being there 10 mins prior). After almost giving up, I got a phone call asking me when I'd like to come in for a tour (the employee didn't seem to know I was already there waiting). After all that, I got a quick workout in but the space was overcrowded and dirty, some of the weight machines were covered in rust and the locker room was unkept. I didn't return for days 2 or 3 of the trial pass, I'll probably just try something local instead of a big box gym like this.

The front desk staff is always really nice, and the trainers seem awesome overall. I can definitely recommend mine, Will. He's knowledgeable, astute, goal-focused, and encouraging. It also feels like a genuinely respectful space. I haven't seen anyone leering or acting like a jerk - quite the opposite. And people are good about reracking weights and wiping down equipment. Parking can be a little bit of a situation at times, and people sometimes seem to wait around for spots for some reason, but there's actually plenty of parking diagonally across the street in the garage. Street parking is also often free or just a couple of bucks, so it's very manageable once you know the options. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this spot. Great vibe, great trainers, and solid equipment. There's even a hot tub in the locker room. It's not a polished, spa-looking place, but honestly that's part of the charm. I'd much rather deadlift somewhere with personality than in a lifeless beige box.

Another person and I taking the class were told they would open the door to the pole studio 10 minutes before, as they only give the code to gym members. The other person and I waited outside for 15 minutes; we were also joined by 2 other people waiting, but no one opened the door for us. We knocked multiple times, and a staff member had to unlock the door for us. We entered the studio during the class, which had already started. Immediately, the instructor by the name of Nina berated us and told us how rude it was that we were 15 minutes late and made the 4 of us do jumping jacks. I was instantly turned off and almost got up and left the class due to the instructor's behavior. The class was not beginner-friendly; she went through demos extremely fast, and the overall unwelcoming vibe from Nina was the worst way to introduce me to pole. Thankfully, this experience did not turn me away completely from pole, but I will be taking my business somewhere that is more welcoming and friendly. I DO NOT reccomend this place for beginners, and I DO NOT reccomend Nina as an instructor.

After the first person took my pulse I was told they would take it again in 5-10mins. It felt like 3 minutes. Had they waited a bit longer, my pulse would have gone down because the anxiety was lessening. I can feel it physically when my anxiety is high and I can feel it going away. With the need for donors, I would think they would have waited to check because they could have gotten a donation from me. The staff were nice but I don't think they really cared for me to donate blood. I rescheduled the appointment but not sure I will ever donate blood again as this experience was off putting. With rising prices, I not only wasted time, but gas too.

But once you do, expect to start receiving the constant texts and calls from unknown numbers lol. After all these years, Red Cross still has not updated their systems. I think experienced donors know how I feel. But onto the subject of this place: ~ Its a fairly big facility with an open quad area. Blood donations in the front. Blood platelets and plasma in the back, in an enclosed glass section. ~ What's also great about this place is the staff. I've always ran into the elderly ladies at check-in that are smiling and helpful. The technicians I've ran into have ranged from normal yet talkative, to near-zombie-like and anti- social. ~ The preparation area and equipment used for platelet/plasma donation is quite clean. I've seen technicians wipe things down, and bring in new sealed kits. Its definitely different when donating platelets. Overall, this location does an excellent job in getting donors set up and checked-in properly. The bed, or gurney, used are clean as is the equipment. I'll likely return six months from now for another donation. But I bet I'll receive over 20-30 calls/text from RC before then.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I took the course because I had recently moved to Portland,…read moreOregon so I was temporarily unemployed and wanted to see what opportunities were available to me. Pros: - It's FREE! You just have to turn in the application with transcripts, letters of recommendation, and go through a short interview process. - It exposes women to different trades with hands on experience and field trips. I got to try a MIG welder, use construction tools such as circular saw, jig saw, etc, pour concrete, climb an electrical pole, and many other things! - Dawn and Amy are great! They are very knowledgeable and friendly. I got to meet some inspiring women and I made some good friends. The Lineworker who came and spoke to us was so inspiring. She was smart, womanly, and a badass! - Projects you work on help the community. I helped assemble a jungle gym for a women's shelter and helped build information signs for a community garden. Cons: -For a place that is "all about women" and "empowerment of women", I did not like some of the derogatory remarks I experienced. The word "girly" was thrown around like it was a negative thing. Since when did "being a girl" become so negative? Just because I wear makeup doesn't mean I can't use a power drill! I understand that as a woman in the "construction industry" you constantly have to prove yourself to men that you are capable of doing the job, but if you change who you are as a woman, you are just adding to the stereotypes that you have to be "masculine" to make it in the trades! Also, when filling out the forms, they said my boyfriend's income didn't count because he was "just a boyfriend". Like if he was just "some guy" and I was just a "floozy" living with some dude. At the time, we had been together for 6 years, me met in college! We have now been together for 8 years and we are now engaged! The old fashioned attitude of needing to be married for a relationship to be serious, is disgusting and sad. How can you "empower women" when you make these kind of remarks?! -During our field trips, I met a woman at one of the sites who was very interested in giving me a job. She had an opening for an environmental position, and with my BS in Biology and the trades experience I was receiving, she said I was a good fit. We had been emailing each other, I sent her my resume, cover letter, and references. As soon as our field trip leader from Oregon Tradeswomen found out, she ruined it for me! This woman from Oregon Tradeswomen knew nothing about me or my work history! Who knows what in the world this idiot woman said about me, but they were no longer interested! Funny how that happened. - Oregon Tradeswomen keeps track of you after you have finished the program, you get a call 6 months after, and then once a year after that I believe for 3 years, I am not exactly sure how long. I recently had an email from them checking up on me, and it has been about 2 years since I did the program. I received my first call about 6 months after the program, asking me if I was employed, if it was a trades job, and how much money was I making. After I gave them this info, I had a call the next day asking me for money to donate to them since they knew my income! Talk about tacky! Overall, I did not go into the trades, I ended up working as an Account Analyst for a healthcare company. I am glad I got the experience. I really can't complain too much because it was free, and since it is free, you will just have to take the good with the bad and make the most of your experience. Good luck!

First off, everyone there was very courteous and helpful. It seems like a very much family atmosphere in which there is a great caring atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, they wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied. The student stylist that I had was very sweet. She was very thoughtful and carefully explained what was going to happen. She waited for her instructor to join us and once she did I then proceeded to explain what I was looking for. I brought a bunch of pics with me of what I wanted and also of what I did not want. They listened to me explain that I wanted a more of an ashey blonde with highlights look. I wanted to stay away from chestnut, honey or auburn tones and add to the fact that I am a naturally dark brunette. I presented them, with no doubt, a series of challenges but they both rose to the challenge. I ended up being at Beau Monde for over five hours but I did have over 100 foils in my hair! They were both very on top of it and and at times both of these ladies were working on me. The end result is something that I have always dreamed about. They did such an amazing job and I could not have gone to a better place! Thank you Beau Monde, I'll see you in a few months! Rachel and Shari, you two are the best!
