Surely there has to be another company in the area that can offer better service. We had this company do our home inspection for our first house. We relied on our real estate agent to find them (first mistake) and we were not there during the inspection (second mistake). Since living here for several weeks, there are several issues we have found that SHOULD have been noticed when a professional does their job. The new dishwasher was not working (water was not turned on); the backdoor did not have a locking pin in the bottom of it. The inspector noted that the washer and dryer were not working---that is because the outlet they were plugged into was dead. In fact, several outlets in the basement were dead. This is something we could have used in our negotiations. When I called them and spoke them about it, I only brought up the first issue. The company representative was more concerned with defending her employee's poor workmanship rather than trying to make it right. I could see I was not going to get anywhere with her, so I decided to not even bring up the other two issues and politely ended the phone call. My suggestion to anyone reading this is 1) do not use this company, 2) be at your home inspection and 3) even if you are purchasing a new house, make sure the company tests EVERYTHING. In our course of purchasing a home, this is was first costly mistake---trusting these amateurs. Replying to owners rebuttal: Not all moves are local moves, so a 3rd trip that was 250 miles one way was not feasible either time-wise or financially. Which is why not all potential homeowners can attend their home inspections. And when reading the final report, how could I know of these flaws until I was in the house?? We did not have a final walk through since we rented it back from the seller while waiting to close, and we were already living in it. So when making comments of how homeowners should act, I would first suggest you get their full story. Also, the washer/dryer were noted as inoperable. Which means you tried turning them on and nothing happened. I asked the worker over the phone if the inspector checked the outlet to see if there was power (there was not) and her reply was "That's not our job". So apparently doing a full inspection is not in your scope of work. Dishwasher was noted as acceptable, which tells me you did not turn it on and possibly only visually looked at it. The dishwasher was not even fully anchored into the cabinets. So did the inspector even touch it? Having a second pin on a French door DOES make an impact on safety and security, because it is reinforcement in the lock. I appreciated the time the worker took to call me, but I ended the phone call when I felt all she was saying were excuses on why these problems were not even addressed in the report. I never once heard "I'm so sorry to hear that, how can we make things right?" Just excuse, excuse, excuse. I don't like giving bad reviews, but this is what I experienced and hope others pause before making any final decisions on who to hire when doing their home inspection. I am a Licensed Real Estate Broker Associate for more than 25 Years and would not have used anyone BUT A-Pro Certified Home Inspection Services when it came to both selling my home of more than 20 years and recently downsizing to a 55+ condo. John was already hard at work when I arrived to the inspection. He took his time and was extremely thorough as I followed him around during the entire inspection. He even put booties on his shoes and also the ladder when going both to the basement and the attic so as not to soil the homeowner's light beige carpet or scratch the wall paint. Inspector Matt Higgins arrived early to inspect the home we are buying. He was courtesy and professional. We could not accompany him while he was inspecting the home due to the COVID restrictions however he would speak to us after he inspected each floor. He provided us with a detailed, thorough, and easily understood verbal report and answered all of our questions. He walked around the exterior with us pointing out anything of concern. He spent a great deal of time in the home.
