No big deal and he was…read morepleasant to work with, but missed a few things that we had a contractor come back and inspect, like...holes in the gable walls showing exposed tyvek, and a master bath vent that wasn't hooked up to the outside and was just venting to the attic (potential huge mold problem!). We had to supplement our response to the seller with these findings and luckily they agreed to fix them, but I was upset the they were missed in the first place. Mike also stated that the fireplace vent was non-functioning yet when our contractor took a second look he found it was just off the track and needed to be adjusted. I felt the inspection was rushed, he didn't seem to want me shadowing him and explaining what he saw (just said "it'll be in the report"). My final complaint was how he directed all of his findings at the end to my realtor instead of me as if I wasn't in the room at all. This is the second home I've bought and second time with an inspector, and although I was miffed about the above shortcomings I will say the rest of the inspection was thorough, including the sewer scope which was a big weight off my mind. The person could not schedule the inspection unless the call came from the sales agent. Apparently thats the only way "her computer lets her schedule" The inspection itself was not adequate. The inspector Dave seemed to speed through the inspection. We noticed one leak in the ejector pipe but failed to mention that in his report. Attention to detail and quality of service that you would expect from an inspection company is simply not there. This was a complete waste of my money.

A billion stars for Eric!…read more I was in a jam and needed to book an inspector the next day. I called all over town and even crossed over to Pennsylvania, but most inspectors were booked until the following week. When I finally spoke to Eric with "Atlas Home Inspection," and explained to him how the seller was only giving me 24hrs to get my inspection in without losing my deposit, Eric squeezed my inspection in, after a long, hot day of inspecting other homes. I'm in California and the inspection needed to be done in Burlington County, NJ, so I was not expecting much from an unsupervised inspection, but after Eric finished he called me and I was amazed how he combed through every inch of the house. When Eric went into the crawl space, he discovered rotting wood under the wash room, rusty and deteriorating ductwork, moisture issues, and other minor problems. Eric pointed out electrical fire hazards from wire lines coming into the house. He checked every outlet and informed me which needed to be replaced with GFCI receptacles and why the plug for the fridge should not be GFCI. Eric spotted major problems, that were not detectable to a lame person like me, with the chimney foundation and firebox. Eric did not just climb the roof on a muggy day and looked around, he actually lifted problem shingles and investigated issues he found, then he got up in the attic to figure out how extensive the damage was from the inside, as well as the outside. Eric not only took his time to list his concerns to me over the phone, but he patiently explained in detail what it means so an inexperienced woman like myself would be caught up to speed construction terms and how it affects the house. Eric treated me with respect, even though we both knew I had no idea what he was talking about, and did not talk down to me or brush me off. He simply educated me and gave me his estimate of how much each problem could cost to fix and how I could research contractors. Never once did he pushed his other services; in fact, he was so honest, Eric actually informed me that I did not need to pay extra for a termite certification since it is not requested by the lender and that he was going to inspect the home for termites and other pest anyway. The amazing part was that Eric did not even asked for payment upfront, knowing that I was in California. He didn't have me sign any paperwork ahead of time or withheld his report until I paid him. He did not give me any BS on how his rate starts at blah and could cost more (which means it is going to be more). He had the most competitive flat rate. He trusted me and I can strongly say that you can trust Eric. Outstanding!!!

Him and his son, who he was teaching at the time, arrived on time for the inspection. The house we purchased was a flip and we had had no idea what we were getting into. He mentioned quite a few issues in the report, however, there were MAJOR issues not mentioned that we found out about later that could have been avoided. The first problem- The son noticed the exterior outlets seemed as though they were not working correctly. Mark told him he used the old tool that does not work. We thought they figured out the issues but all of our exterior outlets did not work after moving in except for 2. -Our fan in the bathroom was not connected to anything so it just blew all of the air into the attic. We found this out because the roof was leaking above the bathroom since they installed the vent incorrectly. -We were having work done in the crawlspace and he never noticed live wires just sitting on the foundation. This has been irritating me ever since we started having problems with the house that could have been avoided. I also understand wanting to teach your son to join the business but I think there could have been a better way to go about it than just letting him go off on his own during such an important inspection.

This weekend Corwin conducted a home inspection on a fully rehabbed, 100-year old row house we're…read morehoping to buy. We're first-time home buyers, so it was helpful that Corwin was incredibly detailed and walked us through every step of the inspection. He explained the items that he would be marking as marginal and shared what he thought the estimated cost of repair would be. We also asked him at the last minute to scope the old sewer line and he was able to fulfill that request with no problem. The inspection report has tons of pictures and notes, and left me feeling prepared to negotiate with the sellers. This is small, but I also loved that Corwin brought an extra pair of shoes to wear in the house so he didn't get the floors dirty after inspecting outside the house. Very considerate! Would definitely hire him again.

Taking my review to YELP!!!!…read more If you are a first time home buyer or a home buyer of any kind, please DO NOT be fooled by the 4.9 stars and reviews from this company. Please take my warning and please find another company to do your inspection and save yourself the headache of incompetience and $$$$$ of issues you will have with your home after you move in. I hired Core Inspections back in January for a home inspection for a home I was buying as my first home. I was confident because the reviews were high, but I can tell once working with them that this company is full of it. During my inspection I was supposed to get a sewer scope done. A seperate person was supposed to come out the same day I was present for my inspection to do the sewer scope and they were extrememly late, they came after the general inspector and I left so they were not instructed on where to do the sewer inspection. After, Core Inspections told me I couldn't get the sewer scope done well into my inspection period because they said there was no access, when my realor and the general inspector from core inspections said there was an access point. Problem #1. Problem #2: My incompetient inspector missed so many obvious issues during my inspection. The fridge wasn't cooling and it was missed. A drain pipe was rusted and unusable and spray painted silver, and once I moved in and used the dishwasher, the basement sounded like a waterfall because the drain pipe was completely shot, large hole and clearly covered to show there was an issue. Problem #3: My inspector did a general inspection on the roof, and since it was snowing heavy, he VERBALLY told be someone would come out and finish the roof inspection when snow cleared, when I follow up now, the company is telling me that isn't protocol??? Now, I am out of a full roof inspection when I wasn't even the one who mentioned someone coming back to finish, the inspector did. Problem #4: My inspector missed that the bathroom in the home I purchased has mold/water damage behind it, so when I got a grouting/caulking company to come restore my 1950's bathroom, I was told the bathroom needed to be completely gutted because trying to restore the caulking would result in the tiles falling off due to water damage. I've reached out to the company to discuss the things missed and I received no resolution and a passive agressive, rude, and dismissive "higher up" person telling me there is nothing that can be done. And telling me that their inspector telling me that someone coming back out to finish the roof inspection was not in protocol so the promise of a more detailed roof inspection should have never be told to me. Also, all these things happened after while being on site, I asked the inspector to throughly explain the inspection results to me, and when I was asking my questions, he cut me off and told me "Stop worrying, this house is solid, I don't see any issues". I, as a first time home buyer was trusting in Core Inspections to give me a quality inspection on my home and once I moved it I got hit with issue after issue costing me thousands, only for when I follow up to be left with no solution and funky attitude from supervisors/higher ups. You also have to sign up for a 30 day warranty on appliances and if you don't sign up on their email, they will claim no responsibility if appliances break on you in the first 30 days of you moving in, even though I had no idea I was offered this. Basically, if they inspect your house, you move in and you run into immediate issues, Core Inspections is going to give you attitude and no compensation. Their inspection was $1k as well. If you are still not swayed by my review, and you decide to pick Core Inspections for your home purchase, and you get assigned Patrick for your inspection, just know you are going into your new house with a bunch of issues. I hope this review helps people who work hard for their money, try to make big financial decisions like purchase a home, NOT to get burned by a poor home inspection.
