This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.

August looked like a good shop when I saw their reviews and their website so I pulled the trigger. I'm glad they still had the size I had been looking for as it was a gift for my lady. Shipping cost was ok but having spent as much as that piece had cost, I was hoping it would be free. No complaints on packaging as it was shipped in a bubble-lined shipping bag. They have a good selection of footwear, outerwear and tees. Plenty of other categories of clothing. Hope to visit the shop one day. My buddy used to play football for the Badgers, I'm gonna tell him about this shop.

The front window display was filled with St. Patrick's Day themed shirts on the day I went in. They were green with the outline of Wisconsin on them and either a 4 leaf clover in the middle of the state or Wisconsin was spelled out just under the image, with the shamrock standing in for the O. This is a small store, but they make the most of what space they have. Upon walking in, there is red and white clothing everywhere. Well, duh! Go Badgers! As you walk around the corner, you see all the green and gold gear. A lot of the t-shirts were priced at 50% off, but as far as those that weren't, the most expensive ones I saw were $24.99. My husband found a clearance shirt with the outline of Nebraska on it and the words "The worst state". Now I know that the shirt was meant in terms of college teams rivalries, but I had to laugh because, 2 years ago, I was driving through NE, in the middle of farm country, and received a speeding ticket. From then on, whenever NE was brought up in a discussion, I would always say that it is the worst state, so the shirt hit my funny bone. There were ones for other states too. I did walk away with a shirt for me and one for each of my parents, as well as a bumper sticker for the hubs.
