After a barbaric commitment experience in Michigan, Ascend Mental Health is a breath of fresh air,…read moreboth literally (with the atrium) and figuratively. Rachel is amazingly compassionate and disarming, and helped us try and put pieces back together for my wife's mis-diagnosis. Shaun was nothing short of an angel for seeing our distress on his day off and coming to the atrium to help us so we would not have to wait for the next available appointment. If you have loved ones, this is the place for them.

My daughter had an appt with Matthew Larsen for 4.5 months and the day comes for her to be seen, we…read moreget there and the office ladies ( 5 of them) told us they had to cancel our appointment. We drove for more than 30 minutes, took time off work and school, only for us to get there and tell us they can't "pull over the paperwork" that we emailed them back 3 days in advance! They called me 4 times the week prior to make sure and let me know the paperwork needed to be done through "secure email " and a credit card be put on file prior to being seen. We drove there, and had done our part only to be turned away and told we need to reschedule. After waiting 4.5 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No phone call the day of saying Hey our system isn't letting us access your file so you can't be seen today simply just let us drive there, waste time, gas, and everything else wonderful to be told they won't be seeing us cause of their system not letting them access it. They said they can tell paperwork was sent on my part but they can't pull it up. Sounds like it's a them problem!!! Still not to see your patient who chose to come to you and give you business, and desperately needs to be seen, is very upsetting. Kids with trauma need help! Don't let this be you or your kid! These office ladies still let us show up anticipating being seen after waiting a ridiculous amount of time, and then tried to still keep our business by rescheduling for "tomorrow or next week". Simple, yet rude tactic to still keep a client. Was if this was you? Does that make you feel important in an already struggling society?! Not to mention how much we pay to be seen and the least they could have done is have ONE of those five lady call us to let us know there was a problem on their end. We did our part and this is how Matthew Larsens business thanked us. If I had pulled this nonsense at my work I would be fired for not doing my job! Unacceptable behavior and very unprofessional. Dr Larsen needs to see this and give a crap about his patients as well as how his office ladies handle problems. Or don't handle problems is a better way to put it. He could have still brought us in so my daughter felt seen, heard and important. Exactly your line of work you chose to be in! You have no idea how you made her feel. I have had another daughter of mine see him in the past and to have this happen to us just verifies you're a nobody in this world which is contrary to his line of work!! This is such bull shit of a MENTAL HEALTH business not to care about you or your time. There is no shortage of mental health facilites in our area, go somewhere where they APPRECIATE their customers, where you will be TREATED as you deserve to be, communicated with, RESPECTED, or where you can EXPECT to get a courtesy call informing YOU of THEM cancelling your appointment due to a problem on their end! Save yourselves time and energy and gas, don't support Dr Larsens team as they clearly don't support their patients.

I booked an appointment for my Daughter to have an ADHD…read morescreening. It was going to cost up to $1500, although they couldn't give me an actual fee because they didnt know what else they would be doing, probably the or MO to upcharge people in need. It also took 3 months to get an appointment. Then they cancelled it less than 24 hours before my appointment and have not bothered to call to reschedule. Nobody answers the phone or returns your calls.

I was referred here for some testing to help sort out whether my symptoms are long-COVID, a side…read moreeffect of medication, or something else. No one here has any interest in talking to you until you fill out what feel like reams of forms, giving them a detailed personal medical history. So I did that. It turns out that they don't want to talk to you after you've filled out the forms, either. You get an email saying thanks for the application, and (almost litterally) don't call us, we'll call you. But they did say that they would call to schedule an appointment "within 5 business days." OK, cool. So I waited for their call. And heard nothing from them for weeks. [cricket sounds] About the time I've given up on hearing from them, I get a call letting me know that I'm allowed to come see them. The "earliest" they could get me in, they said, was over two months later. I schedule the appointment and wait. I'm hoping that the testing can shine the light on some treatment options so that the daily headaches, nausea, anxiety, sleep trouble, and such, can maybe start to improve. So I spend my time recording my symptoms, etc., so I'll be able to give some useful info to the doc when I finally get to an audience. In the meantime, I pop an advil and grit it out. Then, the night before my appointment, they call and cancel it. They offered a new appointment two weeks later. (It seems strange to me that now they have an opening in two weeks, when they made me wait 2+ months before. Is this some kind of test to see if I'm really committed to this relationship? Because it feels like a test.) Whatever. I'm not going to try to deal with these people anymore. I don't get any sense that they are interested in actually seeing patients (try their labyrinth of a voicemail system for an indicator of how much they really don't want to talk to you). At this point, even if it takes me ANOTHER two months to see someone at a different provider, it will be worth it to be able to put these people behind me.
