What is the point of amazing decorations, flowers and food if there is no one there to capture the moment? After researching hundreds of local photographers, we narrowed the list to our top five based solely on their online photo galleries. Chris was the first one we scheduled a meeting with, and we ended up booking him the next day. Chris's philosophy at Shepard Photography matched our style perfectly; simple, clean and modern. We could not be happier with our choice. Chris includes an engagement session with all of his wedding packages, and at first we thought about trying to ask him to cut it out to save a little money. I am so glad we did not though, because the engagement session really was a great way to get comfortable with being photographed in a less stressful setting. As the wedding date neared, we met with Chris again. This time he wanted to check out the wedding site to get a better feel for what we were looking for in the final product. In that same day we traveled the extra half hour to our hotel where we planned on taking our wedding party photos. Throughout this meeting we put together a schedule for the big day and came up with a list of the photos we would like to have. We left that meeting feeling very confident that we had picked the perfect photographer for us. As the day neared the inevitable changes to the schedule needed to be made. Chris was great taking those changes, adjusting the schedule and getting us revised copies quickly. When the day finally arrived, Chris and his assistant/wife Angela were we right on time (unlike some other parts of our wedding entertainment). Chris was excellent working with our planner/caterer to make sure that everything moved along according to schedule. Seeing his past work and watching his professionalism had a calming effect on us during that stressful day. We knew that even if everything else didn't go perfectly we were going to get fantastic photos. We received over 400 pictures from Chris of our big day and they are fantastic! We would highly recommend him to any couples looking for a wedding photographer.

I know lovebirds don't like to think about what might happen if your wedding is cancelled or…read morepostponed ... but please make note of Chris' non-refundable clause in his contract. The deposit is non-refundable and the remaining balance is due in full if a cancellation is within 6 months of the wedding. Earlier this year, my wedding was called off 5 months out, and my family lost out on $3,000. He said he might consider refunding $2,000 of it if he was able to re-book the date and if I submitted a signed cancellation notice, but after I did so and paid the balance in full, I never heard from him again. After hearing me say such great things about Chris from our initial meeting, my mom found it hard to believe that he might not at least offer *some* service in exchange for the $3,000 he collected, such as a family portrait session. But when she reached out to him to inquire about it, her email went unanswered. In the interest of full disclosure, here's an excerpt from one of Chris' emails as to why he maintains the non-refundable clause: "I do need to protect my income, like most wedding venders, I have one to two cancelations a year. Even one wedding is a significant part of my income for my family. Since everything is booked up so far in advanced it is hard to fill cancelled dates with less than 6 months before the wedding." I scouted this guy for two years before asking him to shoot our wedding because I was so impressed with his talent behind the lens. I'm sorry to say I wasn't as impressed with his people skills. Please consider EVERYTHING when planning your wedding, folks. Even the "what ifs" ...

We've been working with Hailey since April 2022 and when I say that this is one of the best…read moreinvestments my family has made, I sincerely mean it. Not only is Hailey an incredible human - she instantly felt like a friend - she also has this gift of capturing ordinary moments. And that's what we love about her work. Additionally, she has this ease about her. And works SO well with kids! Our older son - who was 2 1/2 the first time we worked with Hailey - is autistic and at that age we had a hard time being in open spaces with him (he would often run away, doesn't always look at the camera, etc.). Hailey rolled with this and it felt immediately like she had known Theo his whole life. She made us - and him - feel comfortable and she's now one of his favorite people. Hailey has been part of our lives since my wife's second pregnancy, and whether it was for a 30 minute mini session, an hour-long family shoot at home, or an extended family session in my parent's backyard, Hailey always, always captures the moments with ease. Would recommend Hailey to any family or couple looking to establish a relationship with someone who can help capture their memories throughout life.

I fell in love with Hailey's true-to-color style and booked her for our engagement shoot and wedding after our initial chat. She struck the perfect balance between knowing when to pose us versus capturing things as they were happening. I've been in weddings where the photographer made the couple repeat the same thing multiple times where it just felt forced and unnatural so I'm very happy that's something she did not do. Her experience also speaks for itself - she insisted on extra time for our portraits against the advice of our planners and due to some setbacks during the day we needed and used all of the time she carved out. She also made my bridesmaids feel so comfortable, at the end of the wedding they all said she felt like a part of our friend group and are sad we don't live in the same city so we can hang out again. She also had previews ready just over 12 hours after she left our wedding and delivered our full gallery in less than a month, timing that is truly unheard of in the wedding industry. I would highly recommend Hailey to anyone. She was an absolute pleasure to work with and her photos are absolutely stunning.

She was professional, on top of communication, easy to talk to, and above all, an amazing photographer. My husband and I are so grateful that she photographed our wedding. Christie sent us a detailed plan for photographing the wedding day and altered it throughout the day as needed. I was blown away by her ability to adapt to our needs. For example, our caterer was 2 hours late and I think Christie could see I was on the verge of breaking and suggested we do some couple's photos on our own for a little bit.
