Our family had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with Steve at Silver Lake while he took photos of us. We are a family of 9 with members from 7 to 72, and he knew just how to herd the cats! Steve was so easy to work with. He communicated well with us all, achieving many awesome photos in doing so. He had wonderful ideas about backgrounds to use, topping our session off with epic pictures at sunset looking over Silver Lake and Thunder Mountain! Steve is a true professional and gentleman. read more

My daughter is a high school senior and we were looking for a special senior portrait experience. I spoke with several photographers before settling with Steve of Farrell Photography. My decision was based both on the quality of the photos on his website and the time he took with me to make he could provide what I wanted. The day of the shoot we traveled far -but the locations Steve selected were beautiful. If you're coming from out of town (and the pandemic is over) I recommend making your session and overnight trip to really experience Amador County before and after shoot. My daughter is used to being behind the scenes and Steve was able to make her feel comfortable. Steve had a great turnaround time, and we were able to see the reveal of our pictures within four days. We went back up to Jackson to his studio to see the pictures on a large screen. This is an option, if you live far he can send photos to you for review. We ended up purchasing all photos he had narrowed down for an extra cost, because seriously they were all great. He does have different purchasing options. I will say his website has been hard for me to navigate, and he does not provide "glam" (my daughter was fine to do her own hair and makeup). I felt that these two things are minor (one being operator error!). We could have used a photographer who provided hair and makeup but I feel the service Steve provided was a better value. On a side note- we did talk about the hit wedding industry is taking. If you are looking to plan a wedding and need a photographer for engagement and wedding sessions he does beautiful work. read more

Steve is a dream to work with. He is experienced and a keen eye to detail. We are so grateful to have worked with him. Our wedding ended up being postponed due to the Caldor fire and Steve was able to shoot our wedding for the next year which was a huge burden off our shoulders. Our engagement photos turned out amazing. We just got married on 10/01/2022 and already have sneak peak photos which are absolutely gorgeous. This was a huge plus because we were also able to order our thank you cards early - without having to wait an extended period of time. We absolutely cannot wait to see the rest of the photos! read more

Had a great experience with Steve Farrell. Best family portraits we have ever had taken. Steve was great with our 4 kids and dogs. He was able to communicate exactly what he needed us to do for his vision to be executed. He is truly an artist of a photographer who takes pride in his results. Steve was very receptive to our requests and planned and executed a photo shoot at various locations, in different attire, and even timed our shoot to end perfectly in sync with sunset. Steve was very efficient with his and our time. His knowledge and experience really showed in his results as he seamlessly adjusted lighting, props, and settings for our shoot. Would recommend him to anyone looking for unique, quality portraits. read more

I wish I could give more stars. Farrell photography truly goes above and beyond for their clients including ideas on location, time of day, outfits, and even a reminder that big spray may be needed. We traveled to about 5 different locations for our engagement shoot, all of which were suggested by Steve Farrell. He even called a farm to see if we could take some pics with a vintage truck! Quick turn around with editing and getting photos back to you too! read more

Steve did an amazing job with our recent family photos. We have 3 young boys, so as you can imagine, it was quite a job. He took lots of time getting a diverse number of photos, I truly can't believe how well they all turned out. Money well spent getting a folder full of images that are light-years better than any that I've done with the random Facebook "photographers" that I've tried over the years. Book with Farrell Photography if you want to work with a true artist who creatively and intelligently gets the job done right. read more

Steve captured our wedding perfectly! I am so glad to have found such a great photographer to come shoot our wedding in the woods in Tahoe last fall. It was such a big property with most of the photos taken outside. He was able to direct family members and the subjects perfectly! I whole-heartedly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a professional with a great creative eye for what looks good! Thank you Steve!!!!!!! read more

I had always wanted Farrell Photography to photograph my wedding. I just love their photos and their artistic style. I tried a few dates and they were booked, but ultimately ended up securing them for my wedding date. I signed the the contract and gave a cash deposit of 2k. I was so excited! Due to family illness and reasons out of my control, I had to cancel my wedding. I reached out to Steve several times to let him know the circumstances. I asked him to send me copies of our contract so I could review and get a portion of my deposit back. He never sent it. He said he could possibly give me a portion back if he booked something else for that day. I reached out to see if he was successful to no avail. I cancelled well over 7 months in advance and all I ever got was the run around. Heartbreaking. Changed my whole opinion on booking photographers in the future. I feel completely robbed. read more

After making a spreadsheet of all the photographers in Sacramento, I told my now husband that Farrell Photography was the one we NEEDED to hire. We are so happy with both our engagement and wedding photos. Both were edited and delivered to us within a matter of weeks. The quality is amazing! By far the best vendor of our wedding. We intend to continue to work with the Farrell's for all of our future family and formal shots. read more

Honestly I was very nervous to get my pictures taken professionally for the first time (senior lifestyle portraits)! I showed up a tad late and hadn't done my makeup yet, but I was greeted by Steve who was very warm and inviting and did not stress about us being a little behind on time. We struck up good conversations and I felt very comfortable. He was very personable and his instructions on how he wanted me to pose were very clear and made me feel much more at ease. Overall it was such a fun time + He showed us some cool sunset spots and pretty locations that I'll definitely go back to fun! It was such an incredible opportunity and I really had nothing to worry about! The photos turned out better then I could have ever hoped for! The quality was impeccable and the locations where very tasteful. Some tips if you are looking into booking: bring some water to stay hydrated in between location changes! Bring interesting props that match your personality! I had a Mini ladder in the back of my car and we ended up using it in the shoot, the photos turned out really good! Keep all your changes of clothes organized so it's easier to find everything! Have fun and enjoy yourself! :) read more
