During one visit, a nurse confused me with another patient and attempted to give me a shot I did not need. The only reason it didn't happen is because I stopped her and told her to verify. That is a terrifying level of negligence in a medical office. Patients are told they may only discuss two "problems" per visit -- their word -- and are charged if they dare mention anything else. This practice nickel-and-dimes patients relentlessly: * $25 for work paperwork * $30 for prescription refills * $45 to transfer records * $150 for bringing up a third issue I was double-charged for a visit and then blamed for their billing mistake. You're forced to complete 20+ pages of paperwork ahead of time, only to be made to redo all of it once you arrive. The front desk staff are rude, dismissive, and wildly incompetent. Dr. Waddell does not appear to care about patients at all -- only revenue. Visits are rushed, impersonal, and transactional. Today, my 90 year old father received leg braces in the mail with a letter noting they are free as…read more prescribed by his "physician" Daphne Jenkins. Obviously Ms Jenkins is not a physician but most importantly she's never evaluated or treated my father. She's never spoken with him and has no relationship with him whatsoever; he lives 160 miles from her practice. Medicare will be billed if these braces aren't returned in 3 days. Apparently someone hopes people are ignorant and will think no copay for the patient is synonymous with free. My father has no need for leg braces; in fact they're medically contraindicated and could be harmful to him. Furthermore, Ms. Jenkins had no authorization or consent to access and review his medical record. If she did, she violated HIPPA. If she went only by CPT codes and billing summaries, her clinical acumen is as weak and questionable as her ethics. After speaking with the knee brace product rep, I researched and found Ms Jenkins is being paid by a marketing company to prescribe durable medical equipment for Medicare patients she's never evaluated, treated or even spoken to-bastardizing and contorting telemedicine practices and ethical guidelines. My father will now need to drive to the PO to return these absurd devices. Unlike Ms. Jenkins, he has a problem with generating unnecessary Medicare expenses. Preying on seniors for your own financial gain is egregious even if you're a layperson. A licensed provider doing so is frankly mind boggling. Competent and ethical practitioners with thriving practices don't engage in such activities. Ms Jenkins will be reported to the VIrginia Board of Medicine. She'll also be reported to Medicare who will hopefully revoke her provider ID and status. I wouldn't recommend this woman for direct clinical patient care or anything that involves funding or reimbursement.
