Jennifer helped me go from hobbling and barely able to walk from a patellar subluxation in late May, to hiking 72 miles with a 40+lb pack!
    Kate T.

I've been a loyal customer of Innovative Physical Therapy for over a year now (joy of joys...). I'm sure they're pretty sick of me by now ;P I started seeing Lindy for my TMJ problems last January. She is a wizard. So skilled and knowledgeable about anatomy and the connection between the different parts of the body. With Lindy's manipulation, her advice on the what-not-to-dos and workplace ergonomics, the guidance for jaw/neck/back/pec exercises, and modalities, I significantly reduced my jaw issues. I can eat big sandwiches without my jaw dislocating! I don't get headaches. My shoulders aren't ridiculously lopsided like they used to be. Inevitably every few months I don't keep up with my exercises and stretching like I'm supposed to (and because I'm always stressed and slouching), and Lindy fixes my jaw alignment back again and checks if my mouthguard is working like it's supposed to. I had a patellar subluxation in May when rock climbing thanks to a muscle imbalance from a similar injury in high school. I saw Jen this summer and she wow'd me by her knowledge of taping and patellar tracking. The physical therapists I saw when traveling for work didn't even know how to tape my knee... just said to strengthen my quad. With Jen's guidance on McConnell taping and how to ease back into activity, hands-on strengthening, modalities, and the intense exercises at Innovative and the takehome exercises, I went from being hardly able to walk to hiking again. I hiked the High Sierra Trail in early September- 72 miles up and down some steep terrain from Sequoia National Park over to Mount Whitney. I had a 40+ pound pack. Crossing logs over a sketchy river...? No problem after all those balance exercises at Innovative. Rock scrambling up the ridge to Mount Whitney? No problem after all those step exercises and power tower and squats. Innovative is different from other PT offices I've been to. The therapists know personally what's up (Lindy has had her own TMJ issues, and Jen once had a patellar subluxation from swimming breaststroke). They are TOTAL NERDS about anatomy, in the best way. (Lindy went to a conference in Chile(!!!) to learn from PTs who work directly with orthodontists there for TMJ). You get really solid hands-on treatment every appointment- whether it's getting your face painfully prodded for TMJ or applying hands-on resistance and massage to the legs for knee problems. And they don't just send you home! You get the fuuuuull workout with help from aides. You could go home early and just do your at-home exercises, but why wouldn't you make the most of all the machines and therabands and balance contraptions? The full set of knee exercises often went up to 2 hours for me with all the reps- I really get my money's worth out of my copay! And they let me use the equipment for the other troublesome body part while I'm there too. And you get modalities (for TMJ, a wonderful spa-like heat and stim :) ice and stim for my knee) at the end of every appointment if they think it's appropriate. Since they expanded their office, Innovative now has really fun small group exercise classes run by Katie and Rachel (which is amazing, because Rachel is the most bubbly and joyous person I've ever met and always made me feel a little brighter when struggling through the toughest parts of my treatment). It is really amazing to have structure to keep active, keep up with exercises, and do a group exercise class with the confidence you're not going to reinjure yourself because it's run by trained professionals and you can always ask your physical therapist in the next room if a certain position or exercise is okay. I can't recommend Innovative Physical Therapy enough. Extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly staff who will get you active and healthy again :)

Excellent bouldering gym!…read more I have a 2 week pass and had the opportunity to climb this evening here. Ive been to the Poway and San Marcos location but this one must be their flagship location. Its pretty big and a good amount of bouldering here but its also a gym for indoor rope climbing too. I like this location the best as its pretty big and doesn't feel as cramped. But there are lots of reasons why I probably wont be coming here regularly. For one, parking is a bit of a pain. I parked under an overpass bridge but was a bit worried of leaving my car there as there's a big sign that says no parking but saw lots of cars parked there too, so trusted it. The workers here at this gym were super nice and told me no problem to park there. But, parking is a serious situation. I also am not in this area much so this would only be a climbing gym I stop in occasionally. But, what I will say is that the routes are hard here but they are good. I enjoyed a lot of the routes I tried, I didn't complete all of them, but still fun to try and challenge yourself. There was also a lot of people given how much bouldering is available but thats because its San Diego. Im fine with that, just needs to take a little getting used to. I definitely enjoyed this experience and will definitely be back, this is on rotation for me as part of my physical activity schedule. Really nice bouldering here. Thanks!!

Not just mild discomfort, the kind that you know one wrong move will set you back. I even tried going back once, clearly explained my condition, and still walked out worse... the pain came back the second I sat in my car. So I avoided it for years. Then I met Tiffanee. And everything changed. This is not your typical Pilates class where the instructor is just calling out movements and hoping you keep up. Tiffanee is fully present. She watches you. She adjusts you. She makes sure your posture is exactly where it needs to be - not almost right, but right. You feel seen in her class. Because of that, I was able to rebuild trust with my body again. Beyond the physical part, her energy is something else. She creates a space that makes you actually want to come back. Especially in the past couple of months, having her classes as part of my routine has been grounding, stabilizing, and honestly... something I didnt realize I needed this much. But with the warm welcome from Coach Matty, I felt empowered to give it a try. The website does not do a great job of explaining the format, so here's what I experienced. The workout is split into three parts. Two strength based areas and one cardio tread. In the strength area, we engaged in things like deadlifts, curls, pull ups, etc. On the tread, we did a variety of intervaled runs with the section half being an option to either Tabata run or use the kettle bell to go between strength and floor core exercises. The coach cues each section and prompts you when to do what. Time flew by as you're constantly moving quickly from one exercise to another. I had a lot of fun and it was a really solid exercise. I left feeling stronger and sweatier! They offer first 3 classes free so you can give it a try!

This gym offers a wide variety of bootcamp like classes with fantastic energy and some truly talented coaches. While there are a few who are overly egotistical and could use a come back to earth reality check and a touch more humility, the majority of the coaching staff is excellent. Two standouts are Gabrielle Y. and Christian Q., who make working out an absolute pleasure. Gabrielle's welcoming demeanor and contagious positivity create a great atmosphere, and Christian's coaching style is equally motivating and supportive. The classes themselves are high-energy, challenging, and adaptable to different fitness levels. What I love most is that each coach brings their unique style and energy to the table. Once you find the coach who resonate with you, it's easy to stick with them and stay consistent. The variety keeps things interesting, and you'll never get bored while working toward your fitness goals. One of the challenges, however, is parking. Since Lazy Acres put up signs claiming what feels like half the lot, finding a spot can be a headache. I've learned not to arrive too early because spots typically free up only once the previous class ends. While it can be frustrating to circle the lot, a little patience and timing go a long way. It's something to keep in mind when planning your visits. The gym itself could benefit from more regular cleaning and maintenance. A deep cleaning is definitely overdue, as dust, hair, and even cobwebs can be seen in corners. Some benches are rusty and could use replacing. While these issues don't take away from the quality of the workouts, they do detract from the overall experience. Many other gyms in the area have weekly professional cleaning services, which could be a great addition here to help maintain a fresher, more polished environment. Despite these minor drawbacks, Renegade remains a fantastic place to work out. The membership is reasonably priced, although ClassPass is still more affordable and offers lower price penalties for late cancellations. Overall, the quality of the classes and the dedication of standout coaches like Gabrielle and Christian make this gym worth checking out. If you're looking for a challenging yet welcoming environment to achieve your fitness goals, Renegade is a solid choice--just plan ahead for parking and connect with the coaches whose energy aligns with yours!

When I asked to work in during rest periods, I was met with outright rudeness. Even when staff stepped in to explain the circuit guidelines, members pushed back. A gym is only as good as the culture it cultivates. Enforcing the features you sell -- and holding members to basic courtesy standards -- should be non-negotiable.
