All the rooms are very spacious suites with nice views of the water. Being right on the Sturgeon Bay, it has a big lawn, a pier, and seats for watching the magnificent sunsets. Though it is in a quiet area off the beaten path, it is within a short driving distance to Sturgeon Bay museums and restaurants (including Culver's, McDonalds, and local restaurants), and not far from many other tourist attractions in Door County. Our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite had a full kitchen, large living room, fireplace, jacuzzi, and deck, and it was very well-maintained and nicely decorated. There are grills and picnic tables outside to enjoy the waterfront and a community fire pit for gathering in the the evenings. We also rented a boat for two days and were able to use the dock right outside. I was forced to check out after one night because the room was uninhabitable due to severe health hazards. Upon entry, the room reeked of strong, unknown chemical fumes. We attempted to ventilate, but were forced to close the windows immediately due to loud, disruptive guests and heavy marijuana smoke drifting in from across the street. The chemical smell did not dissipate; instead, the fumes triggered a severe asthma attack and heart palpitations within hours. The conditions were so dangerous that I had no choice but to check out the next morning and drive home to ensure my safety. Crucially, this was a holiday weekend. The hotel undoubtedly rebooked this room immediately after we left, suffering zero financial loss. Yet, they refused to refund the remaining two nights and kept the full $750 charge. The Snug Harbor Inn breached the basic warranty of habitability by providing a room with unknown chemical hazards that caused an immediate medical reaction. Keeping the full payment for a room I could not use, while they re-rented it to someone else, is unjust enrichment and a clear disregard for guest safety. Do not book here; the management prioritizes profit over health.

Breakfast had prepared cheese omelettes, Western omelettes, hard boiled eggs, Belgian waffles, pastries (donuts, banana bread, Danish), bread, bagels, oranges, apples, oatmeal, Raisin Bran and Honey Nut Cheerios cereal, fruit cups, and plain/chocolate milk. Regular coffee, decaf coffee, bold coffee, and hot water with an assortment of tea also available with creamers and syrups available for flavoring 24/7 but they weren't hot, so dont count on great coffee or tea, but the staff said that they just need to be notified and they will freshen the hot drinks for you. Rooms are clean and neat. No complaints. Pool and Jacuzzi were just right and available for adults until 12am. Hotel is located next to a Target, McDonalds, and BP gas station. Renard's cheese is 6.5 miles away as well. Downtown Sturgeon Bay is about a 15 min drive. Walgreens is 2 min down the street, and a Door County guest directory building is across the street. I highly recommend this hotel, and I'll consider staying here again.

There should be a standard for those working in the hospitality business. The room was clean and acceptable. Lighting in the hallways is so dark and the only lighting in the room is the desk lamp and a small lamp on the nightstand. Shampoo and such products are not name brand and the bottles are attached to the shower wall. Same for the hand soap by the sink...anchored down to the countertop. I recommend bringing your own toiletries so you know what you're using. Continental breakfast was a huge letdown. Breakfast is offered from 6am-9am, and the hot offerings include eggs (reconstituted, so not exactly real eggs), sausage patties, and one rotating item (biscuits and gravy, French toast, or breakfast burrito) that never looked appealing. No muffins or pastries, no fruit, and no orange juice. Breads and bagels are not replaced fresh daily. It's very possible the same 4 bagels on day one of our stay were the same bagels on day three. Also, the "employee" tending to breakfast and various things looks like they're 12 or 13 years old. We also noticed that after checking in, there was never a front desk employee at the desk until the morning we left. There should be someone at the desk all the time. Maybe you have staffing issues here? Maybe its hard to find decent help? Whatever the case may be, you have a lot of work to do beyond remodeled rooms.

The decor is lovely and reminds me of a simple time. My hosts were truly wonderful, and they obviously take great pride and care of this historic mansion. Breakfast is delivered to your door! Our room was a bit humid - since we had the wall unit A/C and a fan in the main bedroom it never fully cooled down to where we would have liked it, but it was tolerable (we were out and about so much during our time in Door County, so we really weren't at the resort too much except to sleep!). I maybe heard a small amount of hall noise here and there but very rare (we were on the third floor). I never heard any of our neighboring units, so that was a big plus. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful. We used the washer/dryer and ice machine, as well as took advantage of the free coffee (delicious!). We also needed to print a couple of documents and were able to do that on a computer near the front desk on the second floor. We did not use the pool facilities, but both the indoor and outdoor pool looked very clean and many people were using both daily. The housekeeping is a bit unique in that can specify if you would like someone to enter your suite to clean/empty trash, replace towels, etc. or if you would just like replacement items (if this is the case you can fill out a dry erase form and place it outside your suite).

Motel 57 proved to be ideal for us for one night's stay. It is exactly what you would expect to find in a mid-century motel. The office was so cute and the gal at the desk couldn't have been nicer. We took one of their 2 "deluxe" rooms, which meant it had two full size beds and a kitchen. Since all beds are full size, we appreciate the option to each to have a bed. The single full size beds in the regular rooms might not be for everybody, but they ARE what motels had "back in the day." The beds were surprisingly comfortable. We slept really well! They could do with some new, fluffy pillows, though. I mentioned this to the owner and she was very open to suggestion/feedback. The bathroom was recently renovated and very nicely done, with glass tiles and a walk-in shower. Had nice little bath amenities--more and better than I expected! The kitchen had an apartment-size refrigerator and a stove--with oven! It also had a 4-cup Mr. Coffee and they provided ample coffee packets, both regular and decaf. It was clean, comfortable and convenient. It was also really great to be able to back our vehicle right up to our door, like I back in the day, and we felt very safe and secure. The only things that fell short were the pillows and a heavily scented air freshener which took a while to get used to. Other than that, great stay! Kudos to the owners for bringing this gem from the past back to life.

The condos are nicely decorated and very clean. There is basic kitchen cookware and utensils. They always have Door County coffee, which is really good. I like the big jetted bathtub in the bathroom. There is also a shower. This resort is off the beaten path but that is what I love about it. Every room has a view of the lake. The beach and resort grounds are very nice. I like to enjoy the open windows and patio doors to hear the waves. There is a small indoor pool and hot tub. Both are nice. And clean. The restaurant right next door is amazing. Super cool inside with great drinks and food. Make reservations! I think the prices are inline with other resorts in DoCo. Super friendly staff. I know I'll be back next Fall!
