The B&B is beautiful, everything has been remodeled but some has been left in its original state so you can see how they used to live. One restroom in particular is a great example of a very early "modern" bathroom, the tub is made of wood! The brunch was nice, the food was good. They have some kinks to work out but they admitted this was going to be a learning curve. Food tended to run low and not enough staff to refill, food wasn't always warm. On the other hand, everything tasted good, it was fresh, there was a good selection, staff were very friendly and accommodating. Worth the price of brunch and we will try it again. Get way out of the city and visit one of the nicest pre-civil war homes in the area!

We were greeted at the door by Cynthia and she asked when do you want breakfast? It topped my whole wedding day! The room was welcoming with the door sign- Don and Anne plus the Mr & Mrs sign on the bed with chocolate truffles. Our breakfast started with a light fruit parfait with a hint of carmal, mimosas, the best eggs Benedict I've ever had plus a lemon pound cake. Don was able to create some of the menu when he went to tour before our wedding. I can't say enough about our stay - I was on cloud nine and felt like a bride princess!!!

Together, they created the most flavorful food my palate has sampled in YEARS. These talented women served our group not only a scrumptious and savory breakfast scramble, but soft and chewy homemade yogurt parfaits for something sweet, alongside a pile of crispy, cinnamon sugar-dusted donuts that were to DIE for! Book a reservation the next time you're in town, if you enjoy comfy, cozy, and crazy good attention to detail and design.

She was super welcoming and shared some fascinating personal background stories of her own history, which added a really unique and personal touch to our visit. Highlights of Our Stay: The Atmosphere & Vibe: Everything was incredibly elegant, warm, and inviting. The Suite & Comfort: Our two-room suite comfortably slept all four of us for our one-night stay. A couple of the beds were on the firmer side, and a few pieces of furniture felt a bit small (almost kid-sized), but it was still a cozy setup. The Breakfast: We were treated to a freshly baked morning spread featuring a savory quiche and homemade scones. As a huge food lover, I was genuinely jealous of the massive kitchen--that gas range is a chef's dream! However, I didn't get to snap a pic of it. Exploring St. Joseph: This part of town itself is overflowing with history. Right in the neighborhood, we loved wandering around to see the breathtaking historical mausoleums In the neighborhood cemetery and making friends with a few very friendly local felines along the way. If you're looking for a warm, unique, and historic retreat with great hospitality, I definitely recommend giving this spot a stay!

What an incredible place paired with equally incredible service…read more The Chateau was gorgeous and full of history. I've never seen a place with such beautiful woodwork and stained glass windows. Isobel was so kind to answer all my questions and dive into the history of St. Joe and the house itself, clearly a huge passion of hers. My wife and I stayed in the Romeo and Juliet suite and it was so cozy we had a hard time leaving. I was impressed how clean and functional everything was given the age of the home, Isobel left no detail untouched. Isobel was always available to address our needs. I showed up to breakfast an hour early one morning by accident and that didn't matter, she adjusted for me. The next morning I showed up an hour late to breakfast, when I went downstairs expecting to only have coffee available, she still prepared and served us our breakfast which was so kind and not expected. My only concern before arriving was the location not being very central. Turns out I was wrong. My wife and I could get to any of the restaurants downtown or off Fredrick in 3 to 5 min drive. Everywhere else in town could be driven to within 10min. We'll be back. (PS - Glory is wearing a jacket in photos only because we were on our way out the door. The home was set a very comfortable temperature and our room had an independent thermostat just for us.)

We were amazed at the beautiful house and how it was set up as a Bed & Breakfast! Mark and his wife, the owners, used to live in the house but decided to change it into a nice getaway for guests. The house in the front has the largest room, but expect to walk upstairs, as that is where the bedroom is. The guests from the other three private apartment rooms stay behind the large house; they all meet in the big house (no pun intended) to have Mark's hot, homemade breakfast. Oh, I almost forgot! The house is so clean, I didn't find any old dirt in the corners of the floor, against the walls anywhere. I am semi-OCD and will not go without house slippers. Well, I walked barefoot in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I'm sorry if that is TMI. I wanted you to understand my point. Do not hesitate to book; do not let the name keep you away. It is not set up like a jail on the inside. The house has history, and Mark will tell you about it during breakfast or upon check-in. Don't hesitate! Book today! You will not be disappointed.

Ken and Linda are the perfect hosts and run the inn with great attention to detail, making you feel like family from the moment you enter. We chose to stay in Booneville for a quick get away from the Kansas City area. If you combine it with a trip over to the Arrow Rock Lyceum theater, you've got a perfect little 24 hour trip. The inn is beautiful with four Victorian rooms to choose from and another three French inspired rooms a few doors down. All the rooms have private bathrooms, coffee service, gorgeous furnishings, access to their beautiful gardens, and an incredible breakfast, made by Linda. The Grand Victorian Manor is a true bed & breakfast experience with great amenities, food, service, and hospitality.

Enter the foyer, and you are transported to the late 19th century, though much of the furniture and art seems to harken from the 1910's. While I am no design expert all I can say is that every detail of this place seems to be as it was originally. Every motif, woodwork on the walls -,the wainscoting, beveled glass, hand carved wood above entrance to each room-its breathtaking! Even the vintage radiators are gorgeous! Our bedroom upstairs was quite large with a bathroom containing a lovely old clawfoot tub. The bed we slept in was so comfortable I have never slept so soundly. When we finally found the kitchen (this place is HUGE) we were happy to find it has been updated and has all the modern conveniences. There is so much food available! From cake, cookie and brownie mixes, to freshly baked cookies and yummy lemon cake, to good quality coffee and creamers. And anything you could ever want for breakfast is here - every flavor of oatmeal, cereals, breads, milk, juices, etc. I wish I could better describe the experience of staying, here was but you have to experience it for yourself. The house is huge and you can explore little nooks and crannies, play pool in the pool room or chess in a nook next to a large window, or watch TV in a living room or explore outside in the beautiful garden/yard with a cute and friendly pet cat who follows you as you explore. This was so so so much better than staying at a motel that we will be coming back to experience it again and make the drive from Louisville Kentucky just to stay in this historical oasis.
