That is a complete lie--physical drive health has absolutely nothing to do with software viruses.They tried to charge me $380 to replace a "slate drive" and a hard drive--parts that don't even exist separately in my machine. When I called them out, the story constantly changed. The price suddenly dropped to a $330 "defrag" to make it last a year, and then became a $200 virus cleanup. They even asked for my private Google account password, which no legitimate technician ever needs. They kept putting me on hold to talk to a "so-called engineer" to spin more stories. They suggested I talk to HP and see what they could do for my laptop because they did not want to see me have other problem than a cracked screen. I'm giving a 5 star review because of what Bob DIDNT do for me…read more My hard drive was brought in for some repairs. There was a laundry list of issues that could have been causing it. Like most places, there is an initial charge to even look at the hard drive, and a no-promises understanding moving forward with the repairs from there. Long story short, Bob went above and beyond to help me. He did some initial diagnostics and gave a probably-too-honest-assessment that there was only about a 10% chance the thing could be fixed even if he did take it in. It's a major bummer that my hard drive is probably done for but it's a major relief that I'm not also out another $100 on top of my already bad luck! Honest shop. Fair assessment. Great service.
