Had a fun time at their Friday the 13th special day before Valentine's Day. There were some communication issues with how many people were there and getting checked in but they worked it out! horrible service, i felt like more politics happened than inking. a simple cross tattoo turned into wayyy more than i asked or payed for.

I received a flash tattoo at the beginning of May from their apprentice, who I was never informed was an apprentice at any time. If I would've known and had a chance to look at her work, I never would've moved forward with being tattooed. The line work is terrible, shaky, and thicker in some spots. Not informing clients when someone is an apprentice and her having no oversight is not a good practice. I have nothing against the artist as she has to learn, but the shop should not have allowed her to tattoo in this event. I have reached out to the shop more than once haven't gotten a response about making this right. At this point I'm now stuck with a tattoo I will have to get fixed. Don't go here. read more

I got my nose pierced there, they used a hook ring. After less then a week it fell out, I tried to contact them to make it right and got no where. I recently went to splash of color and got my nose re pierced, they use a different type of nose rings I have had no problems with it. If your gonna get your nose pierced, I wouldn't recommend Ink Therapy. Go somewhere else. read more

Overpriced mediocre work at best. Met one of the employees she had red and black hair with bangs. And was completely rude and hostile. Reminded me of how gross humanity is. I will never do business based on the brief interaction i had with the rude woman. My suggestion would be to treat people with kindness or at least as potential customers. I was so off put by her snotty attitude i didn't even get a chance to ask the question i had. Please dont go to this place they dont deserve your money. Got my nostril pierced by Alix and after trying to get it to heal and bumps away for months I went to another piercer to see what was going on. I was told she pierced me at the wrong angle and with crap jewelry even after I told her I was allergic to nickel. I had to take it out have to wait for it to heal and get it redone. read more

I've seen some less than great reviews on here but I only have positive things to say. I have gotten 3 piercings here from alix and all have been quick, professional, painless. My healing time for all three were very on par with things you find online. I've never had concerns about cleanliness and piercers bedside manner is perfect. I've also recommended 2 friends come here. From my experience (5 total piercings) different areas heal at different times and different aftercare yield different results. I've had the best luck with just leaving my piercings alone and do minimal cleanings. I think it would be unfair to attribute any poor results with the piercer or the shop as most negative piercing experiences are due to after care. Overall, I definitely recommend this place. Came here for a nose piercing and not too long after I would wake up with the stud completely out of my nose and the same thing happened to my friend I got pierced with. Following this I developed a piercing bump despite cleaning regularly and carefully and following all the instructions and the piercing kept moving around. I don't blame the piercer for this, they should just not use L shaped piercings because they're awful. What really sucked was I kept calling and was sent to voicemail and when someone finally responded they said they would take down my name and number and someone would call me. Over a week went by and nothing so I call again and I'm told the same thing. Another week and nothing. I try calling a few more times and again to voicemail. I ended up going to Splash of Color and they were very helpful and let me come in the same day. I was able to get a thread-less stud which doesn't move and they actually seem to care about their customers. Spend a little extra money and go to a better place to avoid wasting your time and money here read more

Karley gave me an awesome first tattoo. I felt comfortable. The shop is very clean. It's located in a big, white house in downtown Lansing. Hygienic practices were spot-on. Great design and educating conversation. For this small tattoo I was quoted the shop minimum via email, but the artist dropped the price by $10 when complete. Highly recommended. read more

If I could sum this shop up in 2 words it would be "just okay".... I got 3 tattoos done here... and they are the 3 worst tats out of my total of 10..... and they're small, very simplistic designs (pics included). The "& life to go baby" (Incase you couldn't read the horrid cursive..), ran me $70 & the "cat semicolon" (which is missing half the ear with some wonky whiskers) was a special going on for $15 which I thought would be awesome - however ya get what you pay for with these deals because they RUSH though them and think they can do them freehanded.... yeah great job.... The artist that did those two is Mark from Florida, back in the ending of September. Now... this alien I got was $40, very overpriced in my opinion, however I do understand this is the shop minimum.... he said if I wanted to add any extra to it, it would cost extra - however it's the size of a dime. Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the guy that did this alien but I mean I can't complain a ton other than the line work is a little.. off. The last thing I will add is that they are absolutely not one of the cleanest shops I've been in.... Overall, my experience with this shop has not been the greatest, I honestly don't see myself going back there at all unfortunately. read more

I went to get my daughters name tattooed on me. Asked for a small, very simple block letter font to be placed on my arm. That's it.. just a name. James was the artist, i believe (although, can't be 100% sure as when i asked what his name was he whispered.) Barely greeted us when we walked in, and only did so in a whispering tone. While trying to find the font on his computer for him to print it out, he was working slower than a snail... which is fine with me, I had plenty of time. But each time i asked for a simple change such as a font size, he would roll his eyes and make a face as if it were some catastrophic issue. He said probably 5 words the entire time, he mostly communicated with annoyed facial expressions and eye rolls. Not sure if he just got done smoking a blunt or what (the whole place smelled like weed). Would never return and would never recommend. Customer service isn't dead.. but at this place it most certainly is. read more

I am not at all impressed with the service and severely disappointed. I called ahead for an appointment just for them to call an hour before and cancel on me. They did not even provide a reason for canceling and left me frustrated. Especially, since we drove all the way from Mount Pleasant to Lansing just to be canceled on. I am frustrated with the low level of professionalism and the waste of my personal time. When making the appointment they made it seem as though it was no issue scheduling us and we were getting tattoos smaller than a quarter which would not take a long time to do. Terrible! My daughter had an appointment at 2pm. The tattoo artist and the other workers were working on each others tattoos while my daughter waited and finally said something at 3:45!!! She has a 7 month old she needs to nurse, and shouldn't have to worry about that because they make her wait so long to work on each other! When she finally said something, the very rude girl that works at the desk made several comments about my daughter not wanting to wait. She waited almost 2 hours!!!!! I went to this establishment a little while ago to inquire about pricing for a medium sized tattoo. I asked questions about how long they had been there, they informed me that they have been there a couple of years, that they are a completely sober shop and that they are owned by RISE, which is a drug rehab facility. I thought that was amazing.... Problem with them saying they are a 'sober' shop.... I over heard 2 of their artist talking to a women out side about 'scoring' Meth and Heroin.... Excuse me? For claiming to be a 'sober' shop and being affiliated with a drug rehabilitation facility, that's not good... Kinda makes you wonder if their rehabilitation program is as advertised.... I don't want a meth head or heroin junky touching me. I'm never setting foot in that establishment again! read more

Would not recommend getting pierced here. Just based on experience and wasting tons of time, money and time getting pierced here. My friend and I came to get our nipples pierced here. I'm not sure if this is a harder piercing than most but I definitely will not ever come back there for anything. After almost a year of pain and trying to get my piercing healed I finally went in to a different and good piercing and tattoo shopping and was told my piercing was done completely wrong.. multiple things wrong. Thank goodness I went somewhere that could actually help me but now I have to start all over. I had to take them out and hopefully they heal nicely and I'll eventually repierce ( not here though!!) read more
