    My tattoo by Solomon.
    Carrie W.

Got a new tattoo yesterday here after a local friend recommended them. Had a shitty experience at Splash of Color right before coming here. Ended up having my tat done by Solomon. I'm mostly happy with it, seemed a little pricey ($120) for 25 mins and the simplicity of the design which I brought in, IMO. Having said that I like how the birds turned out, Solomon was super cool to me (unlike Splash) and everyone was professional and courteous. I'd go back.

    Thanks Chris!

I started getting tattooed by Chris at Fish Ladder around five years ago. To this day, Chris is doing amazing tattoos on a daily basis. I'm consistently getting complimented on the work Chris does. Keep killing it in Michigan and California, Chris! Check him out on IG - @fltc_boilore

Fully healed. Crooked lines and design.

Consider this one star rating a negative five. I received a tattoo on my sternum from Cam Pohl in November 2016. While I shouldn't have agreed to the design off the bat and scrutinized it more (I do take fault in that) the execution of the tattoo was not even worth a dollar. Where to start, the tattoo I received started to blow out (ink bleeding), the lines were extremely crooked (nothing close to what the original sketch was like, and the jewel centerpiece turned out to a hideous blob. Not to mention he added gradient dots that were not on the original design without my consent. Also getting a sternum tattoo with only one break, no water offered, and no concern to my well being was not a great experience. As soon as I noticed the signs of a very bad tattoo, I immediately tried to get in contact with Pohl but he ignored my attempts. At this point I reached out to the owner of the shop, Eric Jenks. He then lit some fire under Pohl's butt to get back to me but at this point I've become so frustrated at the unprofessionalism shown by Pohl, that I did not want him touching me again and making the disaster worse. I asked for my money back minus my tip to compensate for Pohl's time, he said no. Pohl said "all i can do is attempt to fix what you see is wrong. if youre not allowing me to do that then what you do is up to you. " So now I am left with a HIDEOUS thick lined and patchy tattoo that was meant to be delicate and feminine. Absolutely consider going elsewhere for your tattoo, unless you want subpar, unprofessional work done. I am saving now to get this terrible experience lasered off of my body or covered up by a competent artist - Very upsetting!

Whitney was fantastic! She did great tattoos for several family members, very welcoming and talented.

My wife got her second tattoo a month or two ago. Madson does great work and will not let you down. They prefer cash.

I responded with my availability and asked when he could get an idea of a design so that I could make sure we were on the same page. He responded with "Sorry I'm no longer interested". I was pretty bummed... I got the tattoo somewhere else, and recently was looking for another artist to add to it and make it a full sleeve. I contacted a couple of artists and included Levi, because I really did love the samples of his work that I saw. Again he said he was interested and essentially said that there was no need for a consultation, just book a date and he would draw something right there. I again gave him a week that would work for me and asked if it was possible to meet for a few minutes or talk over the phone about some design questions/ideas. Again he responded with "Sorry, I'm no longer interested". I found this very unprofessional and frustrating. I guess if you can get in with him and don't mind not having any input over the design that will be on your skin forever, he might do a great job. Or any questions about size, placement, expected number of sessions, etc...

Did some research and found this place. All the artists work looks great. I chose to work with Levi…read moreHatch. Great guy and great artist. These guys are professionals not a bunch of hacks. Be patient when you reach out to them. They are sought after and busy but they will get back to you. Be thorough in your email so they can give you an informed response. The gallery has a great vibe. Very mellow and great music. Looking forward to working with Levi on my next piece.

I went here at the suggestion of a friend. She said there was only one male tattoo artist, the…read moreowner and he had done a large piece for her that I admired. My sister-in-law accompanied me as I was paying for her first tattoo for her birthday. Being it was my first tattoo, I was quite nervous. I was a little confused when there were two male artists working but I had requested the owner so it didn't matter. Or so I thought! He pushed us off on his "friend" and new artist Conrad, whom he assured us was only new to the shop, not tattooing. I assumed he would only hire a professional. Unfortunately, assuming was a terrible mistake! The guy seemed a little shaky and in a rush. I shouldn't have stayed when I noticed him acting a little spacey or after his extended pre-appointment bathroom break but I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I was irritated when he refused to put our husbands initials in the hearts as we requested but he said he thought it would bring the shop bad karma or some paranoid mess like that so how could I demand it? My mistake, this is something I am paying to have on my body for life so it should have been done as I requested but I didn't assert myself. When my sister-in-law was done, we didn't love it but he assured us it would look better when it healed. I should have left then. I can't say whether it was because I prepaid or if it was a sense of duty since I had chosen this mistake and she went first but I went ahead with it. Conrad was nodding by this point so it should be no shock that mine turned out as horrible as hers but mine ended up slightly worse in that my design had atrociously executed shading that hers lacked. The lettering and hearts he downloaded shouldn't have been that difficult. I paid almost $200 and tipped the minimum 10% I give any service person, even if they suck, because I feel it's mandatory. He didn't even thank me. I continue to apologize to my sister-in-law because they are fully healed but no better. Fuzzy lines, awful shading, uneven lettering and not even completed as we requested. I'm truly ashamed of what looks like a homemade junkie mess. It's completely my fault but horrifying anyway. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!
