But when I changed my insurance and Dr. Flamm wasn't covered anymore, I still came back here to have a root canal done and paid out of pocket because I knew he wouldn't screw it up, it was worth the peace of mind.

Then they took camera photos claiming they have to even tho I wanted just the cleaning and restate that multiple times. After that they came back and wanting to do just a few x rays. Ok, I suppose I should have been more firm. It did look like they just wanted an extra $$. That was the first red flag. They suggested deep cleaning - sure, even tho that was questionable. The first appointment was uncomfortable and painful on many levels. Injections were the most painful ones I've ever gotten. Treatment was rushed - under 25mins. Water was spraying everywhere. Cleaning itself was quite painful despite numerous anesthetic injections. My neck was in pain afterwards. I mean just horrible experience. I told S, she's not doing any of that again. She started giving excuses - I'm not interested in empty excuses. I told her I'll reschedule with someone else for the left side - after that I'm done with this office. Oh did I mention reggaeton and r&b music was blasting loudly all this time. Seriously?!

My husband knew what happened during the sixth tooth cavity filling my husband jolted in pain as he knew Dr.Karpman while drilling had HIT HIS NERVE! This in turn led to dental calamity & the termination of my husband coming back to her as all trust was gone in her. He knew that she didn't do that on purpose but it could have been avoided! During the Memorial Day weekend the excruciating pain got worse & so did the swollen face! My husband called the office but got no response & we were looking for help on a holiday weekend not a good time to be in an emergency & no one from Dr.Karpman's office called my husband back so he lingered in agony!!! The following business day them we heard from Dr.Karpman's office but it was much too late!!! We had already scheduled an appointment with another dentist Dr.Reit who was also rejected by us as he wanted us to use his friend as he left my husband with a bleeding tooth & a swollen face This was another total calamity for my husband's accursed experience both with Dr.Karpman & Dr.Reit not an emergency dental dentist at all. My husband's nightmare wasn't over as I shuddered with fear. As it turned out my competent dentist Dr.Rubinoff at Divine Smiles Dental at 200 east 72nd street which my husband needed desperately saved him from suffering more agony! As it turned out both Dr.Karpman DDS & Dr.Reit who misrepresents himself as a dental emergency dentist which is not so both of them REFUSED to send my husband's x rays which is against the law. Neither of them cared for the welfare of the bleeding patient & showed their claws against the patient whose tooth was bleeding with a swollen face. Dr.Karpmen also didn't admit that she had caused the problem by hitting on the nerve thereby causing a barrage of pain bleeding & lingering suffering as my husband also couldn't sleep with the pain!!! Why didn't Dr.Karpman admit her lethal mistake as an honorable dentist or doctor should??? No not at all because her excuse was irrelevant totally! Also to top it off later when my husband wanted to floss a piece of another cavity done by Dr.Karpman fell!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This came from a filled cavity DR.Karpman worked on!!! What a bloody calamitous painful ignominious experience my husband had with Dr.Karpman & a killer tooth ache like no other plus a piece of another Dr.Karpman cavity falling off!! This experience was off the chart in terms of pain going off the charts & mayhem occurring when you least expect it!!!

However, I had this pretty bad pain on the right side of my mouth and wanted to get it checked out and also get a cleaning since it's relatively close to my job. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere of the office is very calming and tranquil. For people like me who are scared of the dentist, this was able to help relax my anxiety and nerves. I saw the dental hygienist at my scheduled appointment time. I forgot her name, but she was just absolutely amazing. Before she started the cleaning, she gave me a rundown of what she was going to do during and after the cleaning. She was also really easy to talk to and answered the many questions I had about my teeth. Once I was finished with the cleaning and seeing the dentist, I was escorted to the front reception area where GG assisted me with all of my questions about my insurance, etc. The one thing I really love about this place is that they are thorough and explain every detail to you. This is especially important for me because I have slim to none knowledge about how I should care for my teeth, and am pretty clueless when it comes to what I need to pay out of pocket. GG was great at assisted me with this. Lia , the other lady who sits at the front is also really helpful. I called a day after my cleaning and she was so patient with me and all the questions I had. This dental practice has all of the latest technology for diagnostics and treatment. Dr. Dorfman has spared no expense to address every possible concern or issue, a patient might have. I was misdiagnosed by two different doctors, yet Dr. Dorfman correctly diagnosed my issue (rather serious) over the telephone, without even looking in my mouth! Yes, he is that good. I saw Dr. Dorfman's advertisement in New York magazine and made a visit. His practice is like no other I've been to. Dorfman has a blue-chip background - college and dental school at the University of Penn and a tech-geek bent that makes him the first on the dental block to learn all the new tools and techniques. I first spoke to him about whether I should invest in braces or do cosmetic dentistry. He felt the healthiest option was for me to do braces - something his practice had no affiliation in at that time, but given I had no patience, I asked about what cosmetic dentistry could offer. I appreciated that he gave me an honest answer that did not increase his bottom line. Needless to say given I did not want to have a rack of metal in my mouth, I forgo braces and opted to do some cosmetic dentistry to even out my smile. Dr. Dorfman did the job in two visits back in 1993 and to this day, no one can tell that some of my teeth are laminates and bonded and the work has stood the 21-year test of time. They look and feel great after all these years. It was not inexpensive but is was money well-spent. I don't have dental insurance so I believe in working with the best dental practice I can. The Center for Special Dentistry does outstanding work and is a friendly and calm place to get dental work done.
