Where do the people of Saskatoon go to get some quality craft beers? It seems not to their local liquor board store, but rather to places like ingredients with-a small market of imported goods meets coffee shop meets boutique liquor store. It's a medium-sized store, but there is plenty to look at! A wall of oils and syrups and jams, shelves of spices and hot cocoas, desserts to take home, an espresso counter, and a tasting counter for samples from the attached brewery. While we shopped, we were offered a sample. Unfortunately, the self-serve wine sampling machine was out of order... hopefully that'll be on the mend soon. I came out of Ingredients with some Whitman's White Hot Chocolate powder (to mix with my Lucky Bastard Chai Vodka... so good!), maple dulce de leche and a chocolate tart to split with my cousin. Other reviews comment on the service at Ingredients. During my visit my experience was great. The same young man who brought us a sample of beer also greeted us when we came through the door, asked us if he could help us find anything... you know, what you'd expect for attention in a store like Ingredients. read more

Checked this place out yesterday. Was extremely impressed with the range of products, but the staff left a lot to be desired. There appeared to be 3 staff working, and we were the only ones in the store. Not once was I approached to see if I had any questions. In a speciality store such as this trying to break into a market like Saskatoon where many of the products they sell are unfamiliar to the typical consumer, I was surprised that they didn't take a more active approach in trying to help me find new products that I would like. Guaranteed I would have spent significantly more money on this visit had someone taken the time to introduce some of the more unfamiliar products to me, or made recommendations based on my likes. I also tripped over a vacuum twice while in the store which just added to the unpleasant experience. While they do sell some products I enjoy, its still undecided if I will return due to the poor service I received on my first visit read more

I was excited to see another market style shop opening in Saskatoon... But was very disappointed. They bought all of Cava's old stock, but have no clue about any of the wines, ie: pairings, type, stock, or composition of the wine. These are fundamentals of selling high end wine that they clearly take for granted. It was a great concept, but perhaps the proprietors could get off their respective MacBooks and learn more about their product. Very disappointed. Beautiful store, not a very knowledgable staff. This place is phenomenal in all regards. The selection of food, sauces, dips, spices and deli is amazing. Your top notch and high quality cooking needs can be found here. Hosting a party tonight? Pop in, grab some cheese, dips, crackers, and charcuterie and you're good to go. Great place for gift shopping too. The drinks selection is even better. Wine aplenty and probably the largest selection of craft beer, cider, and other such things you'll find in all of Saskatchewan. Not only is the selection great, but there tends to always be a staff-person on the floor who truly knows their wine/beer. I've run into a few issues when ordering from their coffeebar menu. Not all staff seem to be up to speed on how to prepare some of the drinks properly, nor how to fill a growler all the way to the top. read more

I am very appreciate of the quality of products that Ingredients carry. I was particularly impressed with the knowledge that they could offer in regards to the sourcing of their products. From visiting the company in Italy, they were able to assure me that the ingredients in a product would be safe for my son's food intolerances. This is phenomenal customer service. read more

As a resident of City Park I was very excited to have an Artisan type market opening in our area, but what a disappointment it is. The building is beautiful, and really deserves better than the service that is provided at the store. The owners and staff have absolutely zero knowledge about the products they sell. Having bought all the old stock from Cava and not doing any research on what they acquired they are unable to service their customers. One can walk aimlessly around the store and 5+ staff on duty will not lift a finger to assist you or offer you suggestions. When you do actually get the attention of one of the staff members, they have no idea how to assist you. You can't blame the staff they are only emulating their bosses, who sit at the front on their Mac Book Pros and refuse to move or acknowledge your presence. I will not be visiting Ingredients anytime soon, or encouraging anyone else to visit as well. read more
