They do a great £30 for 30 days deal, and they've got other wee deals you can nab as well to make it more affordable.

It's been a while now and I'm still here - so I guess it is time for an update…read more I still mean everything I wrote in my previous review: I love the atmosphere, the interior, the variety in classes and most importantly, the people. Since my last review, I did not give up on Barre classes, and even though I still think of my old love Lagree Fitness at times, I am more than happy that Barre is here for me. I know this is just the type of training I can keep on doing for a long time - because I love it, because it challenges me and because the results show. There is a lot of room for improvement, both in skills and my body, but I feel I can change in a sustainable way, levelling up gradually. I have also started doing yoga regularly, taking mostly Foundations classes. This is a beginner type of activity, and as I only learned from videos before, it helped me a lot to get things right. But this is not the biggest asset of this class: the time and location makes it possible to have this as our regular event with my boyfriend, who is away three to four days a week, and comes back on Thursday afternoons, full of stress and various work related thoughts. We really need something that helps us leave all problems behind for a while, ease our minds and be able to concentrate on what is before us - and this is exactly something that was not possible before we both started participating in our weekly sessions. Neither of the two different experiences would be the same without the ladies I had the joy of meeting in this studio. Not only are all instructors absolutely brilliant, kind, helpful as well as beautiful personalities, but I can say just as nice things about the clientele these wonderful people attract here. So the overall verdict is - possibly all the stars in the sky. I hope The Kali Collective are here to stay for long.

Tucked away in the pentagon building the Kali collective is somewhat of a hidden gem…read more There are a good mixture of classes with a variety of yoga and levels. I particularly love Katie's barre class for a tough yet rewarding work out. Ultimately it is the instructors that make this studio. They are so friendly, so positive and make the studio the sort of place you always want to go.

I hate it. He (i shall call him he) sits there all day just quietly reminding me about the beer and pizza ans chips and whisky and chocolate and crisps and juice I've guzzled down. Perhaps you say, perhaps the ire of my anger should be towards the afore mentioned beer and what not and not the innocent outcome of my gluttonous actions? Perhaps, I say, perhaps you should shut the shut up! Anyway. Rightly or wrongly, i hate this wee dude and have finally decided to terminate his existence. But how? Well, since i'm writing a review about a gym, you may dear reader, assume that i'll be saying bye bye belly with the aid of exercise. You would be right. This i cannot argue against. So with a heavy belly and a heavy heart I joined the Pure Gym due to utter convenience (i work nearby) and the 'oooooh, that's cool and allows me to opt out if/when I cannie be arsed anymore' single month contract system. Nae year contract for this lasy barsteward! So, the beef burning beef? Well, as gyms go it seems to have all the gear you'd need to shed those extra pounds and tone up whatever's left over. I've just recently become a convert to running, so the appeal of these and a wee shower afterwards is pretty much all I'm after just now. Equipment wise, it seems to have all the mod cons. Runny things. Rowy things. Bikey things. Weight lifty things and what have you. It's clean (although the shower did smell a wee bit stinky), fresh, well lit and fairly welcoming even if the entry system does feel a wee bit like you're entering the safe zone in some sort of post apocalyptic zombie flick. Apparently the joint can be pretty busy at times, but today I popped in at around 2ish and it was fairly quiet. It'll do for noo. Classes and what not, other words, amenities, assistance and other relevant words. Yeah.

They offer a range of classes, from yoga to TRX as well as personal training sessions and sports massage. I visited for a personal training taster session which lasted 30 minutes, although normal personal training sessions are 1 hour long. I met my trainer, Alex, filled in a form and we got started with skipping as a warm up. Soon I was lifting weights weight various moves and trying out the TRX, a set up that uses your own body weight and can be very easily scaled to make it easier or harder. We finished with some stretches and foam rollers and off I went. I was really impressed with how much we managed to cover in such a short space of time. I got a proper work out and was quite sore the next day - I suspect a full, hour-long session would have been really exhausting, in a good way. Alex really knows her stuff. She was really patient with me as I was picking up the moves she showed me, and was attentive enough to correct my form when it started to slip. She was also happy to answer my (endless) questions about what I was doing, the studio itself, personal training and on and on. I'm sure she's representative of Activ Tailored Fitness in her friendliness and professionalism. The studio is medium sized and well equipped but they have plans to move to a new, larger venue (probably in Charing Cross) at some point in the near future.
