Lloyd's Travel & Cruises owns a number of cottages at La Casa Resort. Our family was scheduled to…read morestay at one July 31-August 7th. This was not a typical summer vacation option for our family, but given border closures we planned it back in January not knowing how open things would be. As we approached the resort, the thick smoke from nearby fires was overwhelming and concerning for our two small children's lungs etc. We called to seek a refund and we're told it was fine to come and that it was fine. Other staff hung up or didn't return calls. After 2 nights and ash raining down on our car and the cabin Lloyd's Travel / Wendy rented to us (6841 Madrid Way), we packed up and left as they were closing down Westside Road. An Evacuation alert had been issued the night before that they hadn't bothered to tell us about. It later became an evacuation order. Despite the 3000 spent and lack of vacation, Wendy and Lloyd's Travel refused to refund despite being unable to provide any use of the areas, a provincial state of emergency and wildfires so close to their La Casa Cottage Resort. In addition to this, the cabin she rented was ant-infested and disgusting. The pool areas are completely unclean and very cheap for a place fetching $400/night. Given the lack of ethics and morals of this company not refunding and simply offering credit, I would not place any trust in their ability to offer travel services of any kind. When they are willing to endanger children for the almighty dollar, I would stay far away.

Usually you could get your Visa on arrival if you land in an airport. However, my wife and I…read moreplanned to enter Vietnam at the land border from Cambodia so a full Visa is required. You could send your passport to the Vietnam embassy and they could do it for less but... they're in Ottawa. You'd have to put your passport in the mail which would make me too nervous. Once you pay for a more secure method of delivery, price doesn't make a difference anyway. So enter Vietnam Travel Centre where I just submitted my documentation online and it was done within a week. No problems, no issues. The only thing is when I went to pick it up they were almost closed and they didn't know where the Visa was because the person who was dealing with it left already. They wanted me to come back the next day but that would be out of the way. Finally they were able to call the person and then I got it no problem. The $90 for this slip of paper was cheaper than other travel agencies wanting $100-$120. In the end I got in and out of Vietnam no problem so it was legit!

All information was presented clearly and questions from individuals within our travel group of 100, were answered, our emails replied to within hours, and the level of service was generally way better than I have experienced with any other service agency for many many years. With Covid-19, of course, everything had to be cancelled, and the level of attentiveness and service just got better after everything else fell apart. They even negotiated partial refunds on the hotel and flights for those in our group who had not purchased travel insurance. I'm sure they were losing all kinds of money, but they put customers first. If I ever get to travel again, Ellison will be my agency, even if I would normally just book everything myself. Tim thoroughly researched the travel options for trek to the Arctic Circle, made adjustments based on my personal preferences and even prepared back-up flight arrangements for me when Air Canada experienced staffing issues that may have interrupted my plans. Tim is head & shoulders above the crowd, was flawless in his communication and made that aspect of my vacation plans enjoyable rather than painful (which it often is). I wish we could find staffers for our company that operate like Tim...he sets the customer care bar so high, other travel agents need to charter a rocket from Elon Musk just to see it.
