My insurance covers $300.00. They instructed me to a wall with about 10 frames that were cheap looking and cost about $20.00 so they're trying to tell me I have to pay $280.00 for single vision lenses that are just for reading. When I asked again, I was told yes, this is what they covered. Would not break down the lenses and frames separately. I called a few optical stores and the going prices for regular single vision polycarbonate lenses are between $60.00 to $120.00 dollars so are they trying to charge $180.00 dollars for frames that look like mediicaid frames. Do not buy glasses from this place and shop around as they are trying to rip off customers. I understand making a profit but cheap looking frames for almost $200.00, I don't think so. Reading glasses in pharmacy look better than these frames.

I found Dr. Castellano through my insurance company's website for convenient location to me in Miami Lakes, and was able to set up a Saturday appointment. (Actually 2, since I couldn't get do the dilation on my first visit..) Both times, her and her staff were pleasant including breaking my appointment into two visits. Dr. Castellano is knowledgeable, taking the time to go over the procedure and why the (torturous to yours truly) different drops and gyrations to my eye are necessary. Her staff was also helpful in picking out glasses, including the option to combine a different lens and frame combination. As mentioned, a lot of her patients are of the pint-sized variety, which gives her a great attitude in examining a "30-plus year old" not fond of stuff near his eye..great chairside manner! The office itself is decorated white and minimalist and the equipment seems well maintained. There's parking under the first floor, as well as nearby street parking. I can see clearly now, the drops are gone!

On Friday last week, January 26, 2018 I called and left a message to make an appointment as soon as possible. It is Monday, January 29 and I have not received a response. I telephoned again and was finally able to speak to someone to make an appointment, and after they asked for my insurance information they put me on hold for exactly 11 minutes and 24 seconds. I only know this because I called while at the gym and that is what the timer on my phone stated. Again, as a doctor I would not want my staff to have anyone on hold for that long. Even though I was referred to this ophthalmologist by my mother and sister, after my call experiences I will choose someone else.

I was never informed of any additional fee until after exam. And when i trued to use my insurance credit to order the new contacts. They said they dont order contact lens only glasses. I call the Pines Blvd For Eyes. No additional fee for contact lens exam and they can order my lenses! And to top it off was treated very disrespectful when i called them to complain. STAY AWAY!!!!
