As a certified pediatric optometrist, she's the only one with the patience, skill and bedside manner to help when I need to have my eyes dilated...yes even into my 40's :) She recently expanded her practice to this other location in downtown Miami Lakes and works mostly from there. I was told by the front office staff that there's usually another doctor at her original location. Before I became more physically active, she was the one who said I should have my cholesterol checked based on what she saw on my eye exam. Both of her offices have imaging that can take an in-depth picture of the inside of the eye to evaluate the different working parts. The good thing about this device, I was told, is it gives one an alternate to the infamous dilation drops. Ah yes, the drops. Since I had a substantial change in my lens prescription, have a family history and had been a couple of years since I had the dilation she recommended I get it done this year (thankfully all is good). Yes, the drops feel like that scene in "Clockwork Orange" But Dr. Castellanos has a wonderful chairside manner and was able to keep me calm through that procedure. Like her original office, she has a digital lens system that lets her check multiple combinations for glasses pretty quickly. There's also a great selection of lenses, including some very nice rimless like the ones I chose. The candy part in the office name? You get a complementary dessert after the procedure (the raspberry chocolate truffle is my choice.)

Most importantly the owner spends more than an hour with me picking my glasses because I couln't decide. Through the process she was patient and so sweet. As a favor I asked her to adjust my two year old glasses, the one I came in with. When she heated it to readjust one of the lenses cracked and this had previously happen the first day when i got them. The owner was so amazing she agreed to replace the lenses for free. After trying to replace my new lenses on old glasses then the actual glasses broke, remeber they where two yeras old. Well they decided to replace them with brand new glasses with current prescription and did not charge me a penny. Also, the doctor was super sweet and really took her time answering questions and checking for the right prescription. I would totally recommend this place. The strip has a real estate office. On Saturdays they host a farmers market. A street is closed down for the set up and several vendors set up their tents. I've seen new comer bands set up in the outside open area. At night it's lighted up with lights on the trees. At night they will close a street for more walking area and you will see police officers guiding the guest and keeping us safe. During the start of the Christmas season they do a reveal of the lighting of the tree! The strip is well kept. Free Parking areas available surrounding the strip. So you may just find anything you're looking for in MainStreet. The only thing is while they have a few fashion clothing stop for women... there may be only 1 store that offers a laid back mens clothing. Or even for just a walk through the strip. I' live close by so I remember going to MainStrret as a teenager. The strip has closed many doors (to say a few: Tony Romas, Johnny Rockets, Mia Boutique, Peeky Boo) but something else opens that's just as good.

However the young lady who answered the phone at the Pembroke Pines was location was very rude and seemed like she didn't want to be at work. Everything I asked was limited to one word answers and offered nothing else. So I broadened my search just a tad to "what's close to home". With that search I came across this Miami Lakes location and whomever answered the phone was so helpful. She was so helpful that she was able to get me an appointment for that day later in the afternoon. When I arrived everyone was so nice and my wait was very minimal. I was out of there before I even hit the one hour mark. I was tested, saw the doctor and had a nice chat with her. Had I let the first location deter me, I would've never came here and been able to refer other people to this location.
