When I informed him I had already scheduled the job with someone, he asked what the person was going to charge me. I told him $275, and he said to cancel it, and he would do it for $250. I regretfully agreed, and he came out the same day and installed one floodlight and then with great difficulty, the ceiling fan, after my son explained to him how to install it without having the power box hanging exposed. It became very evident to me that he was not very experienced with installing ceiling fans. After he installed the 2nd floodlight on the outside of the patio room, the lights on the floodlight would no longer come on because he knocked out the power on the entire room. He said he would come back in the morning to fix it because he had to leave, due to his girlfriend repeatedly contacting him, being upset, and questioning him about where he was. I therefore went out that night and got a long extension cord to run from another part of the house to keep power to my freezer in the patio room. I zelled him $170 for the floodlight and ceiling fan he installed and told him I'd pay the remaining $80 after he returned and completed the job with the last floodlight. The next morning, he did show up, as he said he would, and he brought someone with him who reinstalled the light properly and got the electricity back on in the room. He then told me I could give him $300. I told him I only owed $80, because I zelled him $170 the previous day. He mumbled around and said, well, the ceiling fan wasn't a traditional ceiling fan. I told him then he should have told me before installing it that he was going to charge more so that I could have had an opportunity to agree to the change in price or make a decision to not have him install it. Not only was he changing the price, but he was more than doubling it, after he completed the job, which I told him was unethical. Then he said he had to troubleshoot the patio room to get the power back on. I then explained that would be expected since the troubleshooting done was to fix a problem he caused during his installation. I zelled him the remaining $80, and then the next morning, I received a text requesting a balance of $250 to be paid. After I explained to him I zelled him the $250, ($170 and then $80), he texted with praying hands that it costs a lot to be on Yelp and that he has to pay his guy. I couldn't get him to understand that those were his responsibilities, and he knew his costs when he quoted me, and we agreed upon, the $250. I have nothing to do with the payments he makes to Yelp or his guys. Since he quoted me $250, that's what I had and was prepared to give him. He ultimately texted to me the threat that if I didn't send "his" money by 9am, he was going to take further action. He then sent the attached letter he printed from RocketLawyer, com that he has a signed agreement from me in his favor. (I don't know if he plans to forge my signature on something or what, but he never even provided an invoice to me. I haven't signed anything) As you can see in the attached letter he sent, he's now stating I owe him not $250, not $300, but $456. In less than 4 hours, it increased from $250 to $456, because he's now including daily interest of $81 and a $75 late fee on a principal of now $300, which he calls accruing at a rate of 27% per annum. No one could make this up. Needless to say, I highly DO NOT recommend this "business".
