All things that I needed at the time, because my trip to the heart of the Rockies was rather hectic. The studio has a rather unique set up (or I'm so used to living in the big city with buildings with little and limited number of windows) because there was an absolutely beautiful panoramic trillion mile view of the Tetons and Snow King mountain. It was like being outside without the bitter cold. Very sunny as well. I took a class with Vanessa, who seems to follow the Anusara tradition. She was great, and understanding of my particular physical limitations and gave me alternate poses when needed. Mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, and other props are available for free use. I would recommend bringing an eye pillow for Savasana because of the sunlight that's so prevalent. I walked out in bliss. Isn't that what we all want?

I signed up for a reformer Pilates class on Friday morning and was not disappointed. Although the equipment was a little different than what I am accustomed to at my regular studio in Denver, Spela's instructions made me feel right at home. Perhaps it was all of the tasty cocktails I enjoyed the night before or the temperature in the Pilates room downstairs, but I was a sweaty Betty by the end of the 50-minute class. Like, I needed to go back to the hotel and take a shower ASAP sweaty. But nothing I couldn't do while on vacation! Props to the detox tea I enjoyed in the cafe before class began.

In the float pod rooms they had multiple soft towels, ear plugs, everything for a shower including q-tips, make up remover, and everything was in great shape. They even had a room where you could blow dry your hair, do make up and otherwise get ready after the float. (Blow dryers, lotion and even disposable combs provided). They sold a couple of years ago and it's gone down hill. The showers all need to be cleaned (lime scale on the shower heads, dingy looking), they don't stock the rooms the same, towels are scratchy and you only get one. The biggest bummer for me is they got rid of the room where you could finish getting ready. I was counting on that the last time I went, this past week, and they have turned it into a sauna so I was left running around with wet hair in 20 degree weather. (I live 30 min outside of town so I was left running errands with wet hair). The pods are also seeing some wear. The speakers don't work as well (really warped sounding) and they no longer ease you out of your float by slowly turning binaural beats on but instead blast them with light at the same time. Not a great experience any more, sadly. They also seem more interested in the latest "fat blasting" technology instead of focusing on the float tanks like they used to. Every couple of months they are announcing some new sculpting system or electronic device to remove fat. ‍

Float therapy is amazing and cryo is a challenge, but both benefit from ongoing treatments and I know I would be a regular if I lived here.
