Initial review on 11/11 ================== I took my 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 (57 K miles) in Mar 2025 after Mercedes-Benz Fremont diagnosed a simple oil-pump valve fault (P06DA00). The shop charged nearly $2K to replace the valve, but within a day my engine catastrophically failed on I-680 -- oil-level warning, loss of power, smoke under the hood. Mercedes-Benz Fremont later found shocking negligence: * Oil pickup tube missing, causing complete oil starvation. * Oil-level sensor broken and sealed with silicone instead of an O-ring. * Oil-pump connector unplugged. * Excessive silicone on the oil pan, stripped bolts, and sloppy workmanship. With an independent third party inspection confirming his fault, I asked the owner Richard to file an insurance claim. Even the MB dealer asked him to file the same. He confirmed he had coverage but he refused to file, showing a complete lack of integrity. Later I reported to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) for another independent investigation by the state. They concluded their investigation in Sep 2025, found him guilty and recorded the same. They also issued a citation as he was unlicensed. He continues to operate without a license which is illegal. They informed me that Richard fired the technician who handled my car--an implicit admission of fault. This "repair" cost me $30 000 for a new engine. If you value your money or your car, stay far away from this unlicensed, unethical and incompetent shop. I'm lawyered up and will see him in court. First, your initial quote was $400, but after I left the car you handed me a $2,000 invoice -- a textbook bait-and-switch. Second, the repair was performed by watching a YouTube video. Hard to call yourself a "European specialist" when you are learning from YouTube. The engine had a catastrophic failure. Oil is essential for the engine to run. The oil pickup tube which takes the oil from the pan into the engine was missing after your repair. That starved the engine of the oil and it broke. This is horrendous workmanship. Mercedes-Benz and BAR both concluded the engine failure was caused by improper reassembly. BAR did not "clear you.", it issued you a citation for operating without a license, which is illegal in California. They informed me that you fired the technician who worked on my car. If the repair "went well," why fire him? Did he botch more cars? Credit card was a hail mary. They dont determine mechanical liability. Richard runs a top-notch shop! I started with him on a GIAC tune for my 3.0T Audi product. But his professionalism, knowledge and great team brought me back for fairly complex services. They did all my belts, my pulleys and the full PCV replacement job + cooling system refresh. Richard really understands these products and explains what they are doing as technically as you like. Had a heater core replaced here and they didn't bother to bleed the coolant. I could tell because the cooling system was gurgling as soon as I got the car back. Minor inconvenience for me, but I wouldn't trust this place with any extensive work if they're that careless. Richard and his team are exceptional. Normally my blood pressure increases when I think about having someone else work on my cars, but I've been to Infinite Auto twice now and both times Richard exceeded my expectations. First time was ~1 year ago. I performed a DIY AC recharge (without AC manifold gauges) on my 2003 Subaru Forester, which improved the coolness of the air, but it wasn't as cold as it should be. Richard performed a recharge (using the AC manifold gauges, of course) for a very reasonable price and a year later the AC is still functioning like new. The second time was a week ago. I had performed an AC recharge (this time with HF AC manifold gauges) on my 2009 Acura RDX. At this point, the AC was blowing cold, but the accessory belt tensioner pulley would chatter/vibrate when the AC was running. Richard verified the AC high/low pressures looked reasonable and surmised that the the instability of the tensioner was probably due to the accessory belt drying out due to old age (even though it didn't have any signs of cracking). He said it's probably slipping under high loads when the AC compressor is running. Amazingly, Richard didn't want to charge me for the time to diagnose the problem. Who does that these days?! I took the car home, replaced the accessory belt and the problem is solved. I rarely write reviews, but Richard and his team deserve to be recognized for their integrity, honesty and expertise. I didn't get any service from them per se, but I thought they deserve a review for the time they spent on the phone to help me with the questions I had. My brakes started making squeaking noises and my initial thought was that the brakes are worn out. So, I wanted to know how much it'd cost for replacement. After calling Infinite Auto Repair (sorry, I've forgotten the name of the person who talked with me), he assured me that until the brake sensor goes off, it's safe to drive. And also he explained why the brakes would make such a sound before the sensor goes off. I got another issue with my car clarified and for that also, he told me what might be happening and what I could do to fix that. They won't deceive you to get your business. That's for sure. Thank you so much Richard and the infinite auto repair tech team. I brought in my Honda Civic because every bump and pot hole I would hit turned my headlights off. During the storm, my headlights went out completely and I was freaking out. Literally, it was pouring rain, I couldn't see, people were Honking and high beaming me as if I didn't know. Ugh. I called Richard instantly, and he reassured me that he could fix it. I didn't have time to drop the car off in the morning, so he accommodated and took my car in late that very night on their secured lot until they opened. Richard is a one of a kind mechanic. When I approached him about a TCM issue in my 2004 Audi A4, he didn't shy away from the fix like most other mechanics in the area. He quoted a very fair price for the fix, which included the removal of the unit from under the car, safely packaging it to be sent off to the hardware flashing shop, storage of the car over the weekend, reinstallation of the unit and an oil fill to spec. This is probably my favorite auto repair shop. My car tire popped then cut through the brake and needed to be replaced. I called a different shop and waited for someone to come take a look at the car before wasting money towing it anywhere and kept getting rescheduled. Luckily, I found Infinite and they quickly helped me get my car towed and and fixed so I don't have to hold on to my car rental for long. The shop is nice and clean. Five Stars!! I am so happy with the service Richard and his team provided! I took my car in for an oil change, and during the test drive they found it was making a noise. At first Richard told me he thinks it sounds like a wheel bearing and quoted me a fair price... a couple weeks later I took it in to have the bearing replaced and after they disassembled my car they found it was not a bearing, it is a couple bad tires. My car was reassembled and without charge!! Richard told me I should replace my tires and it will fix the problem! As a girl that knows nothing about cars any other shop could have taken my money and I would not have known anything was up! It's difficult to find a honest mechanic but you will definitely find that with Richard. I remember him from my early Audi days at DSR and heard from another enthusiast that he had a repair shop right near my house! I have to say his pricing is reasonable (I received quotes from 2 other shops) and I will be sure to bring my car back to him. I won't hesitate to recommend his shop either. Why the one less star? Well, last year, one of his techs drove my car and misjudged how close he was to a lamp post in their parking lot. It looked minor, but had to repaint and remove a dent from my front bumper. Don't often write reviews often but the service i received at Infinite Auto Repair was great and informative. i went there for a simple GIAC flash which was provided by DC quickly and without wait. he also was able to give me a cheaper rate considering i wanted to flash my ecu to a lower tier profile. my first impression being someone who is a bit O.C.D is that this has to be one of the cleanest shops i've had the pleasure of being in. however, the main reason i giving this review was because i had a couple questions about my brakes that i personally did and he was able to inform me not only about the process he personally uses but the reason as to why it needs to be done a certain way. He took 20-30 mins out of his own way to help inform me on what to do and you can see he is someone who enjoys cars and really knows the science behind it. all in all great shop and great experience! read more
