I like Indy scream park. I like how there's one prize for all the attractions. I'm not too fond of paying for parking because the entry fee is almost $40. But I enjoyed myself every year. It's best to go with a group and am ride together.

For the amount of money, I wouldn't say this is really worth it. I am typically pretty scared at haunted houses, and I'd say about 2 out of 5 truly scared me throughout the entire attraction. The lines were all pretty long. Parking is in a big field, which they have people directing you where to park. Its a bit of a hike to get from the parking area to the entrance of the scream park. Honestly don't think I would return for a second year. Maybe for $20, but DEFINITELY not $40

This is one of the highlights of fall for me! I've been going here since high school and always have such a fun time. I love Halloween and all things spooky, so I am always so excited to come back. My favorite attraction from the last two years I've gone is definitely the "Backwoods" one! Each one of fairly unique and the actors really get into it which makes the experience so fun. The 5 main attractions are included with cost of admission. I recommend getting a VIP pass to skip the longer lines if you want! They have a new attraction this year called "Zombie Paintball Assault" where they load you up on a bus and take you into the "Red Zone" where you get to shoot paintballs at zombies. I definitely think this one is worth the extra fee to participate! They have the midway area with plenty of food + drinks options and a bonfire to chill in between attractions. We went early (before it was dark when most the attractions open) to enjoy a beer and a funnel cake first. This would be such a fun idea for a date night or to go with a group of friends!

Do not enter unless you have plenty of extra time, money and godly levels of patience.

First the good: the beer garden is very well done and they had a handful of what looked like off duty police officers throughout the venue so it felt safe and secure. Now, the not so good... Hard to believe this is rated #1 in the country. If so, the state of the haunted house industry must be in poor shape. The park is only open for 6 hours so if you go on a Friday or Saturday you will be lucky if you get through 3 attractions in that time with a General Admission ticket. We waited in line for just over two hours for one attraction and made the painful decision ($45 additional PER person) to upgrade to a VIP pass in a desperate attempt to see all attractions before they closed. That is $180 (total ticket costs) I wish I had back. Truth is, the whole experience is severely underwhelming for the price you pay. The actors they do have are very very good. There's just not enough of them. Case in point: the Back Woods attraction. 85 to 90% of your time is navigating a dark (but appropriately lit) path through the woods. So much scare potential seems wasted. And save the Mutation attraction for last or skip it altogether. We spent 2+ hours in line for this before the fateful decision was made to upgrade to VIP passes. It was BY FAR the most underwhelming attraction. Implementing a lower price point and figuring out how to move more people through each attraction more efficiently would do worlds of good. Watching the feeling of resignation appear on people's faces after standing in line for over two hours for low bang for the buck scares should be the new attraction.

S'mores and hot chocolate, it doesn't get any better than this!

My second year at Indy Scream Park and I loved just as much as the first! We went on a Saturday night (10/27) and surprisingly the ticket line wasn't as bad as we expected. Our first house was the Pandemic Mutation which was an interactive haunt. It was a good choice for our first house. It got our heart rates up for sure. Our second house was the Rage haunt, it was my absolute FAVORITE! It was so cool you got to wear 3D glasses and the house was painted in bright neon colors with a circus theme. So you had the walls AND the actors jumping out at you. I definitely wanted to go back thru this house. Our third house was the Asylum, it was the same from last year so I wasn't really scared or frightened by it. The actors weren't very convincing either. However, I still enjoyed it. Out of the outside attractions my favorite had to be the Backwoods. I went through it last year and I don't remember it being as scary as it was. Maybe because we were in the back? Idk but I was TERRIFIED. It was pitch black and we were in the very back of the group. Just when you thought you weren't going to be spooked someone popped up behind you or you heard a chainsaw coming after you. Whew! it was definitely a good scare. After we went through all of the houses we ordered a deep fried twinkie and enjoyed some smores with hot apple cider. It was a good time watching everyone around us have a good time. I definitely recommend Indy Scream Park to anyone looking for a good scare. It's worth your time and money for sure. PS-get fast passes!!!!

    Monsters in the midway

It gets better every year. I have been going multiple times a year for several years now. It is not for small children. Parking is free. Mask rule is enforced for employees and patrons. They have 5 different attractions and the monster midway. They serve food and beverages but are a little over priced. It is not for small kiddos or those with health conditions. Lots of jump scares! We went as soon as they opened and did the inside ones. By the time we were done it was dark enough for the outside ones. There are characters that walk around the midway and they NEVER break character. Its awesome. You can people watch for hours.

Gross community 3-D glasses they just reuse without any sanitizing

We have always enjoyed this haunt but this year it was a huge let down. They advertise $5 off if you purchase your tickets online but we paid the same price online as posted at the box office. The huge rocks you walk on everywhere are torture in the feet and body and the few larger rocks strewn about are a huge fall hazard. The park opens at 8:00 but we stood in line almost 45 minutes before they were even set up for us to walk through and it was a short line. The wait to get into the haunts were at least 30-45 minutes each even with short lines. Backwoods was so dark this year that you couldn't see most of the characters or decorations and over the first half was the characters asking to be your sugar mama which just seemed weird. Maybe because they were playing off of each other and they just opened but whatever, it was just laughable and not scary at all. The Zombie haunt was super dark too and just not scary. The best was Kilgore's Circus but that was just because of the effects and a couple good actors. The ropes and cement filled buckets were like a mile long and too narrow leading up to the three back haunts so that you tripped constantly and seemed like ridiculously long walks when the lines were so short. They didn't even sanitize the 3-D glasses at all so they were smudged and gross when they give them to you and a couple of the staff at the doors were just weird and rude this year. On a great note the characters walking around and scaring people around the picnic tables and non fires were super cool and we had fun taking pictures with them. They all seemed like they have been here for years and I'm pretty sure a few have been. All in all I think this one has become a cool place for teens or a cool place to drop your teens off to while you go to other haunts. We will probably skip this one next year. Which is sad because we have usually gone twice a season here. The $7 cash for parking and the ticket prices just aren't worth what you get. The smoking and vaping in lines is annoying and needs to be monitored better but I will say when staff did say something to people they were blunt and effective at stopping it. The bathrooms were clean and the fire pit and community area was nice and clean as always. Just sad that the haunt attractions were a dud because this place used to be one of our favorites. Hopefully as the season goes on they get better.

This was the 4th year we have visited the Scream Park. Everyone had a great time, enjoyed the new edition this year, had to run directly into the wall about 10 times. The back woods is always our favorite. The only complaint we had was that the paintball lady asking for tips, was inappropriate. Scream Park is an excellent value, convenient parking. Would most definitely recommend visiting during the week, weekend lines are like 10 Times longer.

I'll do it like this: Is it scary? If that's what you like and you get scared, then yes. It is. If you're not easily scared and you like haunted houses for what they are, you will have a great time. Is the decor good? it is fantastic. Are the people good? Absolutely. They do a phenomenal job. Make up and costumes are great. How cool of a job would that be?!?!? Is it worth the money? Absolutely. If I remember correctly, it does take 15 to 20 minutes to get through it. They do space people out so you're not shoved up against, or being shoved by, a bunch of strangers. Would I go back? Totally. This is great fun every year. I'd suggest getting there early though. The line, although it moves steady, can get long and the wait can be quite long. Can't tell you how long because we always try to get there as early as possible. I would not say that this is exactly an "accessible" place for wheelchairs, scooters, etc. I could be wrong, but I know there would be some challenging areas for those types of accessibility aides.

The haunted hay ride was actually super fun and surprised us by having 2 dance number scenes. The weather was divine and it was so nice to roll through all of the fun scenes they have set up with the breeze going. Some of the scenes felt like we went through them too quickly to get to see everything, but others you could really see all of the detail they put into it. The slaughter barn was very quick to get through- even when haunted houses aren't scary I like when they are big and you get to walk around in the spooky rooms they have set up. The haunted hay ride was the best part of the night by far. One thing none of us liked was that one of the characters that wander around to entertain guests who waiting in line, buying concessions, etc kept very quickly circling around everyone while pulling a wagon that had a duck caged in it. It couldn't even sit or get comfortable because it was constantly bracing for turns and bumps. A fake duck glued to the cage or no duck at all would have sufficed. Not sure why live animals need to be toted around as props. We had purchased our tickets online during pre-sale, so it was a 2-for-1 deal. We definitely wouldn't come back if we had to pay full price, but I do think my brother with autism would like this, so we may bring him here next year.

While in line there were about 4 characters that would walk through scaring people which kept it interesting while waiting. The actors did really well throughout. After an hour wait we got in the in hayride which lasted about 15-20 min. They take you out far away so you don't see or hear anything. They have about 4 of these tractors so the line moves fast. They had some similar aspects from other hayrides and some unique scenes I had never seen before. People were flying around on ziplines which was really cool. Highly recommend. Didn't do the slaughter barn because it honestly didn't look that appealing. The line was way longer for the hayride and $2 more. I could tell the attraction was the hayride here. They charge $2 if you use card so I suggest paying in cash. They have areas with bonfires to enjoy. They have a consession stand with snacks and merch to purchase. Really nice huge farm. Great haunt!

As I arrived at my 666th review here on Yelp, I began contemplating what I could possibly review that would be worthy of such an occasion. Having a dark sense of humor, I began contemplating both my past and present journeys through Indy's more haunted spots and locations with a history of evil and, in most cases, either found them not appropriate for Yelp or inappropriate review. While I briefly contemplated either a review of an Indiana Satanic church (Yes, we have them!) or a visit up to Hell, Michigan, I settled on a revisit to this location that turned the old Randolph County Infirmary/Asylum into one of Winchester, Indiana's few touristy spots. If you know me, then you know that while I do review most businesses for accessibility I'm also a pretty adaptable wheelchair user who regularly does long-distance events and who joined Yelp down in the incredibly not wheelchair friendly Catacombs. In other words, I tend to go where I want whenever possible even if it's not wheelchair friendly. The Asylum is not actually wheelchair friendly, though it's better than you might expect. If you have mobility issues, you might want to contact them in advance or ensure you have a companion with you for assistance. As a building built in 1899, it is exempt from ADA laws. In its early days, the nearly 50,000 square foot building housed six wards, several private rooms, a kitchen, laundry facilities, and separate dining rooms for men and women. It also had several other features on the adjacent property including a cemetery 230 yards northwest of the "home." Over the years, the facility served different populations including the poor, orphans, physically and cognitively disabled, single mothers, and the elderly. In 1994, the facility was bought from the county and turned into the Country Care Center. Around 2008-2009, Country Care Center closed and the facility was used for county storage until current owners came along in 2016 with the stated intention of using the facility as a paranormal attraction. I mean, seriously, do you know a single old asylum that isn't haunted? The treatment in these facilities was typically quite lacking - even in this type of setting, which certainly wasn't a Central State type place but still had its share of tragedy. The current owners have done a nice job of creating a functional setting for paranormal investigations, several videos from which are located on The Asylum website. The website features a wealth of information about the history of the facility along with current information about visits for investigations - this allows for overnight visits. While it's certainly not inexpensive, this is frequently done in groups and that certainly helps defray the costs. The Asylum, to my understanding, is still currently under a contract which means that actual production companies cannot be accommodated. The facility also does not have heat at this time, though they are working on this issue and that may change in the future. I should note that they do occasionally have special events that may include productions - look under the events tab of their website for more info. They even had a Christmas event this past holiday season. I really respect what they're doing here and the fact they've been respectful to the cemetery within the area. There's also said to be unmarked graves. While The Asylum is being utilized for paranormal, the team behind all of this truly is respectful of historical buildings and that makes it all a little more special to me. I've been through Winchester, Indiana a couple times on fundraising events and, indeed, all of Randolph County is pretty sparse in terms of tourist options. However, you have the Randolph Inn where you can stay and enjoy yourself in a small, friendly county and this pretty remarkable setting where you never quite know what you'll encounter!

The parking here was free, so that was a great start. We stood in line to purchase our tickets, but before we did that, they guided us in a room to take a photo. They handed us a card with a code on it to scan after we completed the attraction to see our photo. After that, we purchased our tickets, which was basically in the room over. The tickets were $25 each for General Admission and those are the ones we bought. We stood in line and while we did so, some characters interacted with us. One had extreme energy and Giggles was his name, or so it said so on his back. He interacted the whole time of our visit with the huge line of people. Our wait was about 45 minutes, so it wasn't horrible. They formed groups of six to walk through the attraction. This attraction was really all over the place! There were a lot of actors throughout and they were able to touch us here. I liked that element and I really felt it made things more interactive. They had a really long, swirly tunnel and even inflatable devices that are sure to make you panic. If you're prone to nausea or claustrophobic in any aspect, this may not be the place for you. You end up going down steps early in the attraction. It seems I was in a basement for the majority of the time. I liked the feel to that. The length was probably around 30 minutes, but I wasn't on my phone to time it. The actors, for the most part, appeared to be very young. They did have great acting chops and even seemed to have years of experience. After you exit, they show you your photo and offer it for $10.00. They told us we can purchase it online with the code on the card, which I did on 10/14/22, so the code was active for quite some time after my visit, just to let you know that you don't need to rush and purchase it. Overall, the price definitely matches the quality here. It was a lengthy attraction, so I feel I got my money's worth. I recommend this attraction for all lovers of horror! Date of visit: 10/08/22
