We normally don't leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel like people should know what they're getting into.
We called ahead and were told they had plenty of 4-seat golf carts available. We drove out there, only to find out they didn't actually have the 4-seaters ready. We were shown a 6-seater that was supposedly "brand new," and it was covered in mud with rust all over the metal. We were then told these carts are left sitting outside. That was our first red flag. We understand these are golf carts, but when you're spending $5,000-$7,000 on one, you still expect the dealership to take care of them.
Eventually we were shown a gray 4-seater that was being put together out back. We liked it, were told the price was $5,500, and after being there for several hours, we put down a deposit. We were told to come back the next day when it was ready, with the impression that we'd basically be able to sign the paperwork and load it up.
The next day we were told the cart was ready. We drove an hour with our trailer to pick it up, only to arrive and find the cart sitting outside in a condition that was honestly unacceptable. There were missing plastic screw covers, plastic pieces that weren't properly installed, and the front metal bumper was damaged and heavily rusted. Again, this is supposedly a newly built cart.
Then we found out there was a $750 "build fee" that had never been disclosed to us when we agreed to the $5,500 price. After seeing the condition of the cart and realizing there was a $750 build fee on top of everything, we were understandably extremely unhappy. They did take it back and touch up some of the paint and fix some of the plastic pieces. The manager eventually agreed to waive the $750 build fee, which we appreciated.
But then, after waiting nearly an hour just to get the paperwork together, we went to load the cart onto our trailer. I turned it on and saw 48 MILES ON IT.
Forty-eight.
If we are purchasing a newly built/new golf cart, why does it already have 48 miles on it? And when we asked about it, there wasn't really an answer.
At that point, it was one thing after another. What should have been an exciting purchase turned into nearly three hours of frustration, unexpected charges, fixing things that shouldn't have needed fixed on a supposedly new cart, and questions we shouldn't have had to ask in the first place.
Our salesman, Nate, was honestly the best part of this entire experience. He was great to work with, genuinely seemed to care, and was clearly embarrassed and frustrated by what was happening even though it was not his fault. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about him personally.
Our issue is with how the dealership handles and represents these carts. If you're selling something as new, it should be presented and maintained like it's new. The website also needs some serious updating/clarification because there were multiple things that were not clear upfront.
We left with the cart, but the excitement was completely gone. We had plans to surprise our kids, and what should have been a fun experience was instead stressful and disappointing.
There is also only a 3-month warranty, which makes the condition and lack of answers even more concerning.
We will not be returning, and unfortunately we cannot recommend this place based on our experience. Hopefully they take this as an opportunity to take better care of their inventory and be much more upfront with customers about what they are actually purchasing and what they will be charged. read more
