I worked for Jeff the owner for less than one week. I questioned him about why he didn't live in Indianapolis. I got no firm answer. Turns out people are looking to serve him in lawsuits. I have been in the warehouse where the equipment is stored. It has rats, mice, and no running war, with the toilet overflowing with feces. I have a friend that also only worked one week, and Jeff, the owner is now holding his tools hostage. During my time I witnessed Jeff, the owner sell drugs, and give drugs to people. He also put my friend out because he had medical appointments, and Jeff told him work or be displaced. My friend, having had cancer, chose displacement, as the appointments are crucial to his health. Jeff is often so high on pills that he cannot function. By this I mean he cannot speak clearly or even walk. Take the advice of someone who has seen firsthand. Go with another company. You might pay more, but you will not get ripped off. read more

Do these people ever actually follow through on a contract, or do they just keep coming up with Byzantine hoops to jump through until people cancel in disgust? That zero-refund policy is pretty convenient. I ordered a DJ equipment rental for our wedding reception. Submitted all the necessary paperwork, emailed back and forth a bit, and the contact was slightly rude, but nothing crazy. I've lived out of state for a few years, so I asked what to do about the fact I don't have an Indiana driver's license. At that time, they took a copy of our contract with the venue, and that seemed like it was enough. Well, apparently they've now "updated their systems" so that if you have an order for a date after August 27, you have to enter everything again. No warning, wedding is this coming Saturday, no help, just an extremely buggy automated system that wouldn't take my license from the state right next door. Everything I was told 2 months ago is out the window. No promise that the delivery will even show up on time for the event. I've found an alternate vendor that gave an excellent impression, will have the equipment there well in advance and work with our vendor, happily answered all of my questions, and the whole process was handled within 30 minutes. Rent-a-Bit treats people as they should be treated. Seeing this high an amount of similar reviews and also no-shows, unusably damaged equipment, etc, it really seems like they want the money but none of that actual pesky rendering of services. Go anywhere but here. Their price is only 25 bucks lower than anyone else, and the awful service couldn't possibly be worth it even IF you get what you ordered. read more

Please listen to other reviews and DO NOT RENT from this company. I used them before several years ago and had no issue, but it seems things have changed. Our company had an event in June and I took the opportunity to get one of the package deals. I ordered a bounce house, cotton candy machine, and popcorn maker. I even paid extra to have it delivered within a certain time window. Upon arrival, the bounce house had a giant hole in it. The delivery driver offered to take it back, but we didn't have time since attendees were arriving any minute. We thankfully used duct tape to patch it so that kids would have somewhere to play. The popcorn machine would get too full (despite using the packets they provided) and the cotton candy machine just shot out sugar instead of strings. Mind you, the delivery was 30 mins before our event started so there is no backup plan. We worked with what we had and I explained all of our issues at pickup to the delivery driver. He said he would talk to the boss back at the office and get us a credit. Not a refund, a credit to use their crappy company again. Here I am two months later and I still have no credit. I called today to follow up and was told that they have no notes regarding anything. Once I pushed a little more, I was told "Oh wait!" and that they do have notes regarding the cotton candy maker. They said they tested it once it got back and it worked fine. They even had video! Bullcrap. Also, I was told I should have had a piece of paper handed to me at delivery and I could have called about the hole then. Guess what? I didn't get a piece of paper. Just the assurance of the delivery guy. Needless to say, you will have problems. It will make your event a hassle. You will get the runaround. And you will not get your money back. read more

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS I reserved and paid for a soft serve ice cream machine over the phone, at their website it says the rental is for a single day. The machine was delivered at 2:00PM and for my surprise at 7:30PM before the party was over the driver showed up to pick the machine. I was charged an extra $150 for not having the machine clean.( we were still using the machine) earlier when the driver delivered the machine he never mention that the machine was being picked up 5 1/2 hours later. Also, the person that helped us during the rental call never mention anything. When I called to the office to question about the incident I was treated with disrespect and was told that I should had read the contract closely. I told the guy that I would never recommend their business to anyone and he told me that he didn't care. The bouncy house was VERY dirty, it had visible dirty on the inside and out. It had a strange mildew odor. It had mulch and dirt already inside of it, when they sat it up. When the people took the snow cone machine out of the truck it had no glass side. So we got a snow cone machine with metal bars. Very GHETTO AND UNPROFESSIONAL. It looked horrible! You could literally put you hand in through the machine and catch the ice, no protection from bugs flying or debris flying in the air. Next time I rent anything, I will read all the reviews! Do not use this place ! They do not communicate or answer any phone calls. The drop off person was rude and very unhelpful. We were told that the sumo suits we ordered would be delivered any time between 7AM-12PM; the sumo suits were delivered at 12:30PM. Throughout the morning we were trying to contact them and they were very unresponsive and when they did respond they were rude and unprofessional. Also, they make you pay in full upfront and they are very adamant about no refunds- which is sketchy. If they do not uphold their end of the contract, you will not receive a refund. BEWARE!!!! This company could not be MORE UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!! Shame on me for giving them another try after they gave us poor service for 2 events last year. They go under 2 different names, JNL as well as Indy Party Rentals. Once I realized this, they gave me the whole,"we are under new management...blah, blah, blah" so I gave them another shot because their prices were lower than others and they were giving me another discount if I paid in full by the end of that month (don't fall for that either b/c they didn't deliver everything that they were supposed to and haven't returned any of my phone calls to recover the money we are owed.) l called 3 different times before our event to confirm the items we were to receive as well as confirm address for the event and set up and take down times. One hour before our 200+ person school carnival was to start I called looking for their driver asking why they were already an hour late. 30 minutes later they showed up at MY HOUSE...not the location of the carnival!!!! Finally showed up as carnival was starting and forgot 1/2 of the items and those which they DID bring were a JOKE!!! I could go on and on but I think that this review says enough to steer people away and keep in mind that you get what you pay for so don't let the lower prices lure you in! In the end I am just frustrated and very disappointed. Very thankful that I decided to use 2 different rental companies that day...can't say enough good things about BOUNCE ABOUT INDY...incredibly impressive, reliable and their rentals were wonderfully clean and new looking - thankfully they were the complete opposite of Indy Party rentals! I rented a dunk tank, and a slip and slide for my sons birthday, and it was by far the worst experience, I highly recommend that no one takes their business here. The dunk tank looked like it was 100 years old, it had no latter for the children to exit, the mechanism that drops you into the tank didn't work, the tank itself was a tarp! When I called them and asked them to come pick up the dunk tank, that it was damaged and unsafe for the children, they told me they would charge my account anyways that there was no refunds! I called my bank to let them know what was going on and of course two weeks later they charged my account, I highly recommend that no one ever uses this company, I give it no stars, but they make you give it at least one! read more

They had a groupon deal in Feb 2015 - So we decided to go with this company and use them for our daughters first bday party in June. They wanted us to pay cash because the claimed they didn't take cards but on their website - It says they do. We decided to drive 30 minutes out of the way to pay them cash. Our delivery time was from 8am - 12pm. My daughters first birthday was from 1pm - 4pm. I called the company because they weren't there at 12 pm. The lady said she was trying to locate the delivery truck and would call me back. She didn't call me back until 1 pm. Mind you, my daughters party started at 1! She stated that they would not be able to deliver until 2 pm! After trying to understand why, and not even being rude. I said that was fine. 2 pm came around, and still no delivery. 3 pm came around, no delivery. I called every 15 minutes and they would not take my calls. We were at the venue location until 7 pm and they still did not show. The party ended at 4 but we were cleaning up until 7. I called the next morning 10 times and they finally answered. The lady stayed her manager showed up and called me from a blocked number. No, I never received any calls. I asked to have my money back and she said they can only do store credit EVEN THOUGH, this was their fault. Not mine. I had to threaten them with the BBB and our lawyers. She finally then said she could make an exception. Please, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The bounce house and cottons candy rentals were supposed to be a huge thing at my daughters party. I paid them to rent a bounce house and three tables. they did not bring the tables and refused to go get any. when I called the following business day, no one returned my call. I called back days later and left a message. They never returned my call. they instead sent an email refunding the cost for three tables. I called from a different number and no one answered, but they then called this number back. they refused to refund the delivery fee, even though the delivery was late and incomplete. they also charged me taxes for the undelivered items and refused to refund the taxes. read more

After weeks of billing errors (their fault) and then they misplaced the check we mailed a week prior to our event, they insisted we provide CASH to get the lights that we had been attempting to reserve for a youth event. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I am not usually one to write bad reviews, but my experience was so terrible that I felt like I had to so I could warn everyone. I rented an icecream machine for my wedding. My original contract stated that I would drop it off the next day. When I called to confirm everything a week before the wedding, I was told that "food safety laws have changed", and that I needed to bring it back that night. It would have been nice of them to call and inform me of this "change" when it happened. We didn't have anyone to bring it back that night, so we agreed on (and made a new contract for) a delivery guy to come and pick it up that night. The guy never showed up. He called me 3 times from midnight to 1:30 in the morning, ON MY WEDDING NIGHT, to tell me that he wouldn't be able to make it and someone would call me in the morning. A lady called me in the morning saying we could bring it back, with the leftover icecream in it, around noon and we wouldn't be charged the pick up fee. So we did that. Of course, the next day, I look at me credit card statement and there's that pick up fee. My husband and I both call to speak with the manager, (who is the most rude, unprofessional person I've ever had to deal with) and she refuses to listen to us, keeps repeating that we signed a "legal binding contract" in the beginning (even though that contract had changed), and basically telling us that we are the ones who screwed up and that we should have had the icecream machine back earlier. There are many more details that I don't have the time to go into right now, but long story short, this is a miserable, unprofessional, shady company. If only I could give his company zero stars. That's what they truly deserve. First, the address that comes up in maps when you type their company in is a house. So I had to get online and try to find another address, I finally did. The lady I spoke with said they open at 10am. I got there at 10:10am (my event was scheduled for 10:40 and I didn't get it started until 11:15) the door still locked and the lights off. Another man who needed assistance knocked on the door. A man who looked like he had a rough night and just crawled out of bed answered the door. Mind you he had no shoes or socks on. He asked what I needed but he couldn't hear me over the not one but three dogs that were barking. (Which the entire place smelled like animal feces) We finally were on the same page when he asked to see my ID. I told him I didn't have it and no where in the emails I received did it say I needed it. He told me to look in my spam folder because they have been known to go there. Why you don't tell your customers that in the beginning, I'm not sure. I asked him if a picture of my ID would work and I could send it to him via email and he print it. Nope. I had to drive back to get my ID (my fault) And I get back to Indy Party Rental and no one is to be found. I waited 10 minutes before I was helped. The maintenance man had to help me after making several phone calls to see what he should do. This company is unprofessional, unorganized, and disgusting. Ordered a bounce house with 2 machines. Trust the reviews. I thought the whole "well only negative people tend to leave reviews that's why the negative outweigh any positive". The reviews hold true for this company. Although the people were apologetic and nice it still doesn't make the situation any better. Per all other reviews they were late for delivery. About an hour at that. Then when they finally arrive and begin set up they didn't have the right blower to push enough air into the bounce house to keep it up *rolls eye* they leave to fetch one and return. 2 hours and about 30 minutes after it was supposed to be set up they finally get it going. Half my party had already left considering the party started 2 and 1/2 hours ago. WHATEVER, my kid will still bounce I guess, right? It was only a 6 hour rental but due to the lateness they offered to leave it over night. I called the next day to inquire what time they'd come remove it. They gave me an estimate but didn't show up until 7 hours after that time.. seriously. How unorganized are they? again, whatever its out of my damn hair. I get an email 30 minutes after removal asking about "damage" upon pickup but nothing was said to anyone onsite AT THE TIME OF PICKUP when they were packing it all up?!?!? That was the icing. I was done, done. Never again will I even entertain the thought of using this company. Well, this place does. And, I'll take it. By the looks of this place... they have anything and everything you need for a party: sno-cone machines with supplies, flags, stereo equipment, balloons and helium tanks. Dunk Tanks. Bounce Houses. They're a family run business and the upside is they stand by their product. And, they go out of their way for you. Up front, they were willing to come back to the shop if I needed to return it late Friday; instead, they met me mid-Saturday. Later showed up an emailed final receipt invoice. Good touch. The building was disgusting and smelled of animal feces. It was obvious there was at least one dog caged in the back. The machine was broken, which I pointed out and the guy told me "winter is hard on popcorn machines". He did not offer to help me take the machine out to my car, which the machine was big and awkward. When I got the machine to work it was dirty and had to be cleaned. It also did not have the heating lightbulb for the machine, so I had to go purchase one. The day I was scheduled to return the popcorn machine, my emailed invoice (he would not give me a paper invoice when I picked up the machine) said return between noon and 1pm. I arrived around 12:30 and the place was closed with a sign on the door saying that all rentals must be returned by 11am and would be subject to a late fee. It is now the following day and I have called every number I can find for the place and sent a text asking if someone is there and have yet to hear back so that I can return the machine. I happened upon this party rental place with a search on yelp. I called to place a rental order over the phone and they were very nice and informative, so I decided to go ahead and commit to the rental. It is probably a good thing I did before I drove to the building.. please read on..... They seem to have everything you want at a fair price. They were on time with all deliveries with quick set up. The pieces were very clean and I would rent from them again. The only down fall is a bit of a unprofessional front office, but you kind of got to like that. They are family run with the whole family running around the place just like the post earlier. The kids are cute and the owners seem to run around shoeless. Don't cross them off your list just because of the lack of signage and front office appearance! I will rent from them again when ever I have the need. read more

Horrible experience! My brother in law rented some speakers and sound equipment from here for his wedding. We went to pick it up and they didn't have the lapel mic for the pastor. The guy I was working with said the previous renter didn't return it. Their pick up location was a pig stye! He couldn't find the other one. I asked if they could go buy another one and he went back to ask his owner Jeff. When he came back and told me no I asked to speak with Jeff. Jeff had ducked out the back! I had him call Jeff and when I went to talk to him he wouldn't talk to me! He had agreed to take off an additional $30 to help rent one from another location, but when we asked to take off the extra day rental he refused. Jeff basically told our rep that we could take what we had or cancel the contract. Stay clear from this biz! Not listed on the BBB and they're not listed on the IN Secretary of State website! I can't find anywhere that says they're even a legal biz but we will be pursuing this breach of contract further with the state and any other entity we can get involved. I mean really, you own a business and you duck out the back door to avoid confrontation and then refused to speak with your customer on the phone? With kind of leadership like that I would be surprised if they're still in business next year. read more

Pretty sure I was being screened. It is now Wednesday and the bounce house that was delivered Sunday has still not been picked up. They came this afternoon, plugged it in and left. This is because it has been raining since Monday. No sorry or offer for compensation. I have been planning and hosting events across the US for the last 11 years and Indy Party Rental by far was the most unprofessional group of individuals I have ever delt with. I host a 5K race for a National Non-profit. It took them an hour and fourth minutes to setup 1, 10x20 pole tent that was a 15-20 minute job and was unable to deliver on other aspects of the rental agreement. My husband contacted Indy Party Rentals around May 31 regarding rentals for our daughter's fourth birthday party. Package deal included three pieces of equipment for $100, for one day. The party was scheduled for Sunday, June 5. When my husband contacted Indy Party Rentals, he was told by the girl(who didn't provide her name) the pickup time is 10am. This was pushing it for us since the party began at 11am on Sunday-she told him we may be able to pick up on Friday or Saturday, but we weren't holding our breath. That Friday, June 3, we had not heard from Indy Party Rentals, so my husband called to see if we would be able to pick up early. No answer. We had reserved a hot dog steamer with bun warmer, cotton candy machine, and snow cone machine. Saturday morning, June 4, called again. No answer. Finally someone returned his call, stating that he should call back at 6pm so someone could be there for him to pick up the equipment that evening. When he called back that evening, there was no answer and no return phone call. Closed for the day. Sunday morning, husband arrived at Indy Party Rentals right at 10am to pick up equipment, since our party was at 11. Hot dog steamer was not a steamer or bun warmer, just a roller. Snow cone machine was not even there. Was told that it would be delivered- coming from Pittsboro and our party was in Plainfield. He guaranteed that it would be there between 11 and 11:30 and no later. The party began at 11. Snow cone machine was not there by 11:30, so we started calling. Called several times. No answer. It finally arrived after 12:15. It had come straight from Pittsboro, in the back of an open pick up truck, not covered, so it had not even been cleaned- delivery guy lacked all personal hygiene, so many guests seemed hesitant to allow their children to eat anything from it. It was nothing more than an ice grinder. Not sure if piece was missing- Hole in the bottom was giant- too big for a cup to catch the ice, which was flying EVERYWHERE. Embarrassing. Have emailed several times (5, to be exact) to see if I can get the complaint resolved, to no avail. Update: filed a complaint with BBB and emailed Indy Party Rentals to let them know. Guess what- got a prompt phone call from Shelley. No apology, no nothing. Oh-except an offer to refund a small amount for the tardiness of the snow cone machine- and then follow it up with a delivery charge so we would owe them another $4! I wish I could give zero stars, but that's not an option. Look at all of the horrible reviews this place has received, and RUN in the other direction. There are other party rental places who are certainly running a more reputable business. Use someone else. Use ANYONE else. But DO NOT use Indy Party Rentals. read more

I had a HORRIBLE expereince with this company. I attempted to rent a popcorn machine from this company for my son's 7th birthday party. We pre-paid for the machine and supplies as well as pick up and delivery of the machine. We had 50 guests waiting for popcorn during our outdoor movie party. The popcorn machine was never delivered. I placed many pannicked phone calls and texts to this company with zero response. To date, they have still not responsed or provided any explanation as to the no show. Very dissapointing!!
