We went for Valentine's day @ lunch time, a friend and I, to catch up. Good points : - I love their decor - You can book on opentable - Service was friendly - They automatically bring you salt/pepper/chili peppers / spicy oil / parmesan! Loved the fact I did not have to ask for it Less good points : - Small portions indeed though was perfect for us - It was written fresh bocconcini on menu, but we needed to specify because my friend is pregnant and it's not fresh bocconcini, its the pasteurized one you'd buy at groceries We shared a gnocci poutine as an apetizer, it's a small portion for a 10$ apetizer (considering you could pay that for an entire real poutine) but it was interesting. I'd say it was very tasty. Not the usual sauce, they put some cream in it, but we finished it no problem since it was small. Then we shared a pizza, one of the vegeterian option, which was good. We were 2 girls, so that was plenty enough for us, though I would understand some people mentioned it was a small pizza for 17-18$. The waiter was very nice, he just forgot to give us the free ferrero rocher at the end !!

I saw that Industria was opening in Carrefour Laval and got curious and went to try it at Les Galleries D'Anjou. It was a Friday night and it was quite busy, we were seated fairly quickly. The menu have many options, from pizza to pasta, sandwiches, chicken, beef basically it has something for every taste. We started with some lambs chops for appetizers. I must say it was one of the best I have had. Usually the lambs are not very good in smell, but this was juicy, a nice smell of char and cooked perfectly, very elegant and small, great appetizer to share. Then we ordered pizza, I had the Bufalina, which is tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, basil, and fresh bufalina mozzarella. My friend had the calabrese , with suppressata sausage, tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella. I absolutely loved my bufalina pizza, loved the pizza dough, loved the crumbled mozzarella on top. I truly enjoyed it, my friend on the other hand, hated his pizza, first of all it had a foul smell to it which it was probably the sausage, honestly its an acquired taste. But he gave me a bite, and I couldn't even in my mouth as I could not stand the smell. We finished with dessert, I had a mochaccino With canoli and it was very very good. The ambiance is nice, very loud though and after 8 they brought a DJ which made it even louder, it reminded me of the days I use to go to Universe. All in all a good experience, will go back once it opens in Carrefour

Let me tell you a little story about a little restaurant that could. It's a little restaurant…read morecalled Le Saint-Jacques. This little restaurant has been operating for about for years. My girlfriend spotted this little restaurant hidden from any main Street. One of those little restaurants that you drive by and blink and you missed it. And that's ok because this little restaurant is filled with regulars only, where the owner calls you by name, pats you on the shoulder and treats you like family. This little restaurant has nothing hip or trendy, you don't get served by strippers or hipsters with oily beards and man buns, they don't play loud music and you don't have to scream your conversation. No it's a quaint family owned restaurant, with a charming homey décor that seats 30, maybe 35 guests, tops where you get served by the owners, the chef is the owner's daughter, assisted by her husband. This little restaurant has a menu that lets face it doesn't reinvent the wheel, straight up Italian and French cuisine (trust me it works) but as with all meals, it's all in the execution and boy does this little restaurant execute well. The menu is simple and short. This is good. It leaves more room for quality. The opening was a simple soup, a potage, a cream of carrots and ginger. Perfect balance between the sweet of the carrot and the spiciness and bitterness of the ginger. If this was a preview of things to come, we were in for a great meal. I could have eaten a bucket full of that soup. This was followed by this giant veal meatball served in this perfect tomato sauce that I licked up from the bowl with bread once I was done... the meatball was perfect melt in your mouth goodness, no weird spices or weird add-ins. All that topped with slivers of Parmigiano Regiano (hope I spelled that right). Seriously delicious. My girlfriend had fried shrimp wrapped in angel hair pasta served with a balsamic and maple syrup reduction. Looked awesome but I'm allergic to shellfish so I can't taste, but it was an eye crossing mind blowing experience for her. The owner then asks us if we want to get the main right away or wait. We took a break. But the owner brought us a complementary plate of bruschetta which were just perfect and non acidic and not too salty (common mistake) Then comes the main. I had duck confit served with roasted vegetables and this crazy ass potato mash that's so simple and yet so perfect. The roasted vegetables was equally delicious. I was expecting the duck to be super fatty because it was confit, but it was well balanced and the accompanying sauce was... it was.... I dunno what it was made of and I should have asked but it had this fruity taste that just married perfectly with the duck, I want to dare say it was cranberry but I'm not sure. All I know is that I was thrown for a curve. Perfectly prepared, fall off the bone, perfectly seasoned and very flavorful stuff. My girlfriend had the pistachio crusted rack of lamb and there's no describing how good that was. The chef really has a knack for cooking meats perfectly. And the accompanying sauce was disturbingly tasty. The meal was concluded with the classic tiramisu, often drenched in alcohol, but not here. Equilibrium was achieved. It was sided with fresh blueberries and caramel. POW! My girlfriend had a 3 chocolate layer cake that was very chocolaty but not over powered with sweetness. The owner even introduced us to regulars sitting next to us and we became momentary family. He gave us nicknames: Francesco and Angela. Our new family was friendly and even shared with us some of the shoestring fries which were freaking awesome. By the bucket please. Outstanding service. Mind blowing food. Subdued and welcoming atmosphere. So this obviously gets a 5 outta 5. We'll be going back and we'll bring more people.

The restaurant seems to be very popular for birthdays or special group gatherings. What interested me in the first place was the large menu, there is a good selection of everything so it easy to please a picky eater. The restaurant itself it medium sized, there is a small parking lot and free street parking. It is located in a very residential neighborhood. The interior style and vibe is fancy, higher end, white table cloth and intimate. We were seated and served very promptly. Our main meals were the penne romanoff which is a pasta in a rosee and vodka sauce, along with the grilled lamb chops. This is served with a side of potatoes and veggies but we were able to swap this out with a side of simple olive oil and garlic pasta instead. They serve complimentary flat bread and buns to start. The pasta was delicious, extremely rich and flavorful, and pretty generous in portion. The lamb chops were dainty, cooked well and tasty however we expected more of an herb or seasoned crust to these -they only had a sprinkle of herbs on them. Service is super speedy and efficient, we were in and out very quickly since we did not order anything else. I would highly recommend this place for pasta, if you live in the area, take out would be ideal. The pricing and portion is very reasonable. I would definitely come back and want to try other things from the menu, we saw several other dishes at nearby tables and everything looked delicious.

Avante Harde is a large bright space in an old industrial building. There is a glass wall separating us from the brewing. There is a nice pizza oven in the bar area. There were more than 20 beers available on tap and in cans. We tried several and all were great. I really liked the imperial stout. We ordered some pizzas that were pretty good. Maybe the trust could be a little less floppy but it was good. Table service was ok. When we first got there there was only one guy working and he was hopping. At 5:00 more workers showed typo which was great as the bar was getting more customers. It was about a 20 minute taxi back to the hotel. This was very good beer so I recommend you jump in a cab and head to Avant Garde.
