Sifu Daniels is an exceptional martial arts instructor. I had the privilege of training under him…read morefrom 1985 to 1990, and his teachings have had a lasting impact on my life. His skill, patience, and dedication to his students are unmatched. I hold him in the highest regard and deeply regret not being able to continue my training with him. Sifu Daniels is truly a master of his craft. I remember Sifu telling my class that we should not brag about our practice and if he ever heard that we were bragging (think Johnny Lawrence in the karate Kid 1) that he would take away our rights to wear of Fire Dragon School T-shirts. He would tell us to leave our egos in the glove compartment of the car when we got there. This really resonated with me. My brother thought it would be funny to grab me and put me in a bear hug, saying, "come on, let me see some of your stuff." I refused many times but he persisted and was taunting me. Finally, to get him to stop, I used a move that Sifu Daniels taught us in class and got out of the bear hug quite effortlessly, stunning my brother. He signed up for classes right after that and became a student of Sifu Daniels also. We eventually both had a good laugh about that time.

No-matter what your reason for training in the martial arts, visit us before you make your final decision. See how our classes are conducted, observe a class, and talk to the students. You will find dedicated, intelligent, highly motivated people who are disciplined, respectful, and very serious about their training, but enjoy a good laugh along the way. You will see that they are highly skilled in empty hand, blade, contact weapons, and firearms. You will also see a sense of friendliness and brotherhood that is a rare commodity in most schools.

Amazing instructors. Great place to train for people of all levels and ages…read more You can be a hack like me or train with legit professional fighters. I love it.

Let me start by saying, I have tried so many outlets to assist with my fitness and health…read more It started with Ballys, then went to LA fitness Lucille Roberts Planet Fitness Curves The Kroc BLINK back to Planet Fitness various aerobic sessions (Zumba and Tabata) and finally neighborhood walks/jogs. None of these things kept my attention. I got bored after about two weeks. I am a quitter and I am someone that does not like challenges. I love my comfort zone and I love to eat my feelings. It's what I do. Stout has changed that! My very first class, western boxing, taught by Ty. I don't know a thing about boxing. I do not watch boxing, I know some big names but I do not watch. So I show up at 5:20pm, I'm just standing there, ready to run out (again, quitter). He walks over, introduces himself, and tells me to warm up with shadow boxing. I said I don't know how to shadow box. He gave me the option of jumping rope or jumping jacks. I didn't want to do that, I don't know why but I didn't. he said you got this. I immediately said, ya know what I do. Stoutpgh and their staff is not intimidating AT ALL. It may feel that way if you have never stepped in the facility or if you are thinking about previous Arts schools and maybe they were jerks. Everyone is helpful, constantly guiding you and correcting you with positive reinforcement but also praising you when you do something good! I do love hearing "Good Kia" or "Nice Kia" or "Great job Kia" Class two, it was a bag class. I met Brody, he introduced himself. I stood in front of the heavy bag confused. before I could even get his attention, he came over and assisted me. I walked out of that class throwing 1, 2, and 3 (didn't know what a 3 was), and a switch kick. NICE! I went to class three, signed up that day. Zack, said you have another free class. I said, I don't need it. lets get this party started!!! I want you all to know, I am 44, 4'11, and 263.7lbs. I do not feel like the "fat chick", or the "old chick", I feel like a person. Stoughpgh let's you be a person, not a label. Many times we think we have to get in shape before starting something to get us in shape. How bass ackwards is that??? I didn't think Stoutpgh was for me, I didn't think I could do it. Boy, was I wrong! It is for me, it is for EVERYONE and EVERY BODY!!!! Again, EVERY BODY!!!!!! I look forward to class, actually look forward to going. I am so surprised by that, haha! Staff Cleanliness Availability of Classes Prices Oh last thing, I am funny about what I eat throughout the day. I know I have to train so the idea of just eating anything, I stopped that. I know what will make me feel sluggish, bloated, or just gross. I care about what I take in so that I can be productive during class. No one said anything to me about how/what to eat but it's like my brain clicked on a light that has clearly been dark for a long time.

I wanted to try n shed some of this baby weight & I wanted try sumthing new. Boy did a make a mistake! The bald headed instructor was a complete jerk to me. Who wants to get yelled at by people who think they are better than you because they are fit? Not your typical workout place - made me cautious, but I am so glad I found it…read more I had some serious doubts when my GPS told me I had arrived. I did not expect it to be in a residential neighborhood. It was the coldest night so far this winter, and I tried the door and it was locked. I called the number and was told the door would unlock when the class before me let out, in 15 minutes. Luckily I had my car to keep me warm, and I waited. Others started to roll in just at 5 til the hour. When I finally entered, I took off my shoes with the others, and I was greeted with a hug. Im a hugger, but rarely meet strangers outside of Burning Man event who are huggers. I headed down to the basement, and then the garage. Rope lights and tons of pictures of martial artists like Bruce Lee to Mohammed Ali - and awards. My first night I wasn't prepared,, and my feet were cold from working out on the padding in the garage. Since then I have brought extra warm socks and haven't had that issue. I don't know how you like to work out, so I wont give too many details of the workouts. Sometimes, Id rather not know and just get through it. There is a cardio aspect and working out with kettlebells, and punching bags. I will say - the coach made me feel very comfortable going at my own pace, and he made me WANT to work myself harder. Its cold, Its snowing, I want to stay home tonight and get other things done...but Im packing up my water bottle and extra warm socks, because I really get something out of working out here.
