But, our visit during our most recent vacation was in line with last time. So, decided to post a review this time. When we arrived, the bar was fairly crowded, but the tables were empty. The waitress working apparently wasn't interested in seating our party of four. We made solid eye contact across the establishment and waited patiently for her to finish what appeared to be a personal conversation. Eventually, she finished but still made no move to come greet or seat us. We finally went to the bar to ask about a table...where the bartender Tarzan (he may also be the owner?) seemed happy to greet us. He was awesome...a real brightspot for the visit! Friendly, quick service, and seemed very happy to chat. He made us feel like we were locals. Seated us at a table, brought our drinks and food order in record time, and hung around to give tips and chit-chat. While Tarzan was great, getting seated led to a bit of an annoyance. It rained shortly before we arrived. So the tables and chairs were soaked. We asked for something to wipe them off. What we got was a small handful of napkins; barely enough to dry part of the table so we could set our phones on a dry spot. For dinner, we ordered two pizzas. Both were good...thin crust with a nice taste. But, on the other hand, they ran out of pizza dough. We planned to order 3 pizzas. They only had enough dough left to make 2 pizzas...even though they were supposed to be open 3+ more hours. This was reminiscent of our visit 2 years earlier when they had only enough dough to make 1 pizza for us...at 6pm on a weekend. Seems like they would make sure to have enough dough to get much closer to closing. ...and doesn't seem to be something they are prioritizing a fix for. So, overall we had a great experience with Tarzan, and the pizza we got tasted good. But, the disinterested waitress, shortage of pizza dough, and weird limited attempt to help us dry the table all summed up to a decent, but not great experience. The east side of the island has limited dining options, so we'll probably try again during our next vacation. But, now we know to lower our expectations.

She was super friendly and took the time to share all kinds of local tips about the island, which we really appreciated. My wife went with the highly recommended gluten free pizza and the gluten free beer--both were excellent. She was genuinely impressed with how good the pizza tasted, especially since it's hard to find great gluten free options. I had the Mahi sandwich with a side of fries and a really strong drink (just what I needed after a day out in the sun). Everything hit the spot. The atmosphere at The Tap Room was laid-back and welcoming, and you can tell the staff cares about their guests. If you're in St. John and looking for good food, cold drinks, and friendly service, The Tap Room is definitely worth a visit.

Not to mention they did not even have any desserts. An Italian restaurant with not one fish or seafood item, not even one special of the night. So called cocktails Awful! Probably the best item for the price is the pizza for roughly $30 Even if you look at the The Caprice salad you will notice that it basically look like just five slices of tomatoes with five pieces of cheese on it. For the pros there should be some form of a presentation. If you go through past pictures, you'll see how it used to look. I have no trouble coming back, especially if you're sick for a while of going to a fancier restaurant, but I have to tell you it was a little pricey for what you got even though it wasn't as expensive. given places in the past, from other restaurants, it was a nice way of saving a few dollars, you will still save a bit compared to the more expensive restaurant, but not so much.

I agree but if he had listened when taking the order he would have ordered the correct pizza. First he told me its probably on there you just cant see it? There is no ambiance. It's a very small restaurant with tables crammed in. The pizza was horrible. My son ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and it was a very small portion. This was the only restaurant we didn't enjoy in St.John.
