    The chair

I've featured it on my blog and in free-lance work in the past but hadn't been in a while so it was great to revisit on Yelps #DublinDesignNight - they were showcasing and launching their latest design project the Dyflin Chair and Magazine Holder - the chair is stylish, fabulous and surprisingly comfortable - at €900+ it'll make a great addition to those who support and can afford to support Irish Furniture Design like this. Back to the shop and you can grab a coffee and a seat in Indigo and Cloth after you've shopped upstairs in their men's boutique. I love the international designer wear the house. It's stylish and most items can be the staple to your wardrobe - on trend but not faddy. If you like your coffee and design it's definitely worth a visit - whether you're men's clothes shopping or not.

Michael Barrie Menswear - May 1997 trip to Dublin, struck by this handsome store front had to snap a pic. Sad to see it was painted.

The best menswear store in Dublin I have bought from! Full of very stylish clothes and very good…read morefor anyone looking to get suited for weddings or special occasions. A nice cherry on top is that the staff are extremely friendly and most importantly helpful!

It had been far, far, far too long since I bought some decent rags and so I took the morning off…read moreand, against my will, dragged my sorry baggie jeaned, worn jumpered, and ripped jacketed ass to Michael Barries. To say I have grown to hate buying clothes is an understatement. The sales staff I encounter are generally those over eager 12 year old boy type wannabe hipsters wearing gimpy little cardigans, achingly tight jeans, slip ons, and throwback t-shirts from bands they don't remember. This irritates me profoundly. Michael Barries is the antithesis to this. As I walked in I was greeted by a normal human being who asked what I was after, gave me a few suggestions, pointed me in the right direction and then simply left me be to browse. The selection ranges from casual pub wear to suits, jackets, and ties. Everything I saw was geared firmly towards understated, old school men's style. If you're after the metro look this probably isn't for you. After a few minutes my amateur shopper status must have been evident as he wandered over and made a few suggestions based on my measurements and what I was looking for. Much to my satisfaction they all fitted perfectly. Happy days. In addition to what I was buying I also had my eye on a jacket, which was admittedly a little more expensive than I would normally be comfortable with. I tried it on and as I was buying quite a bit, normal human being sales dude said he'd knock €200 off it. I gave him a lower cash price for the lot, he agreed and the deal was done. If like me you are a person who will shop for quite a bit once or twice a year, who likes classic men's style, and who doesn't want clothes which make an ironic statement or highlight your borrowed nostalgia for 80s synth pop, then this is the place for you. I can now happily say I like shopping, albeit infrequently.

Great concept store in a cool area of town…read more Yeah, the concept may confuse some Dubliners at first as there's nothing else similar to it in the city...is it a café? Is it a boutique? It's both - and it works pretty well. I'm no fashion guru, but my other (more fashion-savvy) half came in and was impressed by the clothes & jewelry on display - all unique pieces I think. I do love my coffee, and I can certainly say that the lads at Tamp & Stitch do it damn well. They use coffee beans from the brilliant Hasbean (who supply other quality coffee joints such as 3fe, Bro Hubbard, Cup, Fallon & Byrne, etc) - at the moment they're using beans from Brazil which are delicious, but I think they'll rotate depending on what's tasting good & what's fresh. The set-up reminds me of proper Italian espresso bars - it's not a place to go and lounge about in for hours, but rather it's a real high-quality coffee experience (at a price that's actually cheaper than other [lesser] cafés nearby) So, although there's plenty of competition in the area, I see no reason why this place can't be a great success - well worth stopping by to give it a go.

Still loving the coffee, but have also bought a couple of presents here too…read more Would definitely recommend looking here for quirky jewelry. Where else could you find a ring with a little oragami style crane on top?! :) Also in true small boutique fashion they use Sum-up to take credit card payments through their smartphones. It pleased me to actually see Sum-up in action.
