For work, I went with a group of seniors for a college visit day. This was my first time touring IU, and it is a beautiful campus, also massive! We stopped at all of the hot spots, it almost made me want to enroll in college again. We stopped near the Venus fountain, several of the great academic buildings, saw the library, a massive study area, and the sample gates. I wanted to comment on my experience to the UC/Indiana football game. As a UC fan we traveled out to Bloomington for the big game. We arrived early to tailgate and I was first struck by how beautiful the campus is. You can feel the history of this university but it seems to be technologically advanced. The green spaces really broke up the high number of buildings. I had no idea how we would be received as UC fans but everyone we met and sat by were great! There was of course some good hearted ribbing but I felt welcomed as an opposing fan should be. This was the best away game culture I have ever experienced and I wanted to thank the university and students for providing such a great atmosphere for college football. read more

This is such a beautiful venue. Very historical. Many great shows have come through here. I claim its the envy of Broadway. I've seen countless shows here and always leave so thrilled. My first time here was orientation in 2004. First show: Incubus. Have seen contemporary dance troops, ballet, goofy (Spamalot, Shrek) to tear jerkers (Rent). I went to see Pippin there. Well not see. I could hear it. I was in Balcony C and the rows don't slant enough so you can't see much. All I saw was the back of the person in front of me. But, even if he wasn't there the balcony is so far from the stage that everyone would look like ants. I was very disappointed. I won't be going back there again. read more

Beautiful auditorium, great sound, comfortable seats and good sight lines. But OMG the parking situation! The night we went to the Willie Nelson concert, there was also some big jazz thing in a neighboring auditorium. School was in session too. IU could at least clue visitors in that there's a parking structure, available without a pass on the weekends, fairly close to both venues. Rather than allow people to drive around aimlessly for 15-20 minutes pre-show, searching in vain for non-permit parking that just doesn't exist, there should be a couple signs!!! There were even police out directing the nutty traffic...you would think they could put up a few signs. read more

One of my favorite places for concerts/shows! They always have an amazing season! The auditorium is gorgeous, there isn't a bad seat in the house and the staff is so friendly!! Pay attention to your ticket to know which door to enter or ask any of the students working! :) affordable drinks available but not much snack options so be side to eat before you come to the show! Free parking and a shuttle is available for all ticket holders and is your best bet! read more

The Indiana University Auditorium is always a great place to check out a show in Bloomington. I've seen everything for concerts, to comedy, to Broadway plays at the auditorium and have yet to have a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and accommodating while the facilities are always well maintained and clean. I would suggest if you are buying tickets in advance that you print the tickets or have them mailed because the will call lines can become long before shows. There are shuttles you can take from different locations to avoid parking or walking but the Union or the Jordan Garage are also great options for only a few dollars. I highly recommend checking out a show at the auditorium! They always have an annual schedule of plays and a variety of entertainment but often add items into the line up through out the year. If you sign up for emails you'll have advance notice too! read more

Came here to see a performance of Kinky Boots. The theatre is beautiful and the staff is especially helpful. We picked up our tickets from Will-Call and the process was quick and easy (even right before the show). They offer many types of refreshments for before and after the show and during intermission. I saw many people enjoying ice cream from the Chocolate Moose -- it looked delicious! We were seated in Row 35 and had an excellent view of the stage and we could hear every note perfectly. Can't wait to see our next show here! read more

The second level balcony near the front is perfection! Went to see the Beach Boys and the acoustics were phenominal! This is officially my new favorite concert venue due to the zero tolerance of smoking and the lack of drunks! Get there early if you want parking though. read more

This year is our third in Bloomington, and for some reason we had not taken in the shows at the Auditorium. I feel like I have missed out! The acts, plays, musicals and singers that are brought in to IU are nothing short of world class, the staff is fantastic, the ushers are excited to be there and great at that jobs and the community is involved. I've been to almost every touring show this year and will be as long as I am at IU. What a great experience! read more

How is it possible that I'm the first to review this awesome University??!! I brought my daughter on a campus visit as she's looking to start next fall as a psychology major. I've been on/near campus many times but I've never toured and really didn't know about the history of the campus. This is such a beautiful campus and, as they say, the most Instagrammed place in the state of Indiana. Very picture worthy!! read more

We came here for a viewing of Monty Python's Holy Grail and to hear John Cleese speak. It is a very nice venue. The seats are comfortable. There isn't really a bad view in the place. But the reason for not giving it more stars is the design of the steps in the balcony area where our seats were located. The steps were wide with varying depths and heights of the steps and absolutely NO handrailing. Given the width of the steps, there would be plenty of room to put a handrailing down the middle with room to go up or down on either side. We saw one elderly gentleman almost bite the dust on the steps. Luckily, he was more like a Weeble. He wobbled but didn't fall down. But the steps really are a very poor design. read more

I have been to many performances at the IU Auditorium. It's old school beauty, when you walk in, you feel inspired.

Elegant and wonderful, parking is not next door, but it is well worth the walk!

The IU Auditorium is a beautiful facility with outstanding acoustics. The box office and ticketing process is a mess. If you try to attend an event, you are likely to be disappointed. I bought tickets many months in advance for a recent event. I was alarmed when I did not get specific seats, just a confirmation number for "best available" seats. I called, and was reassured that with such an early purchase that my seats would be excellent. When the tickets came they were awful. I called again, and there was no adjustment, and no apology. For the same price as seats right up front I got seats that were so far back we were not sure how many people were on stage. Yes, the acoustics are good enough that you could hear the concert, but I came to SEE the musicians. If I just wanted to hear, I could listen at home (and I should have). Even worse, there were open seats near us. Purchasing seats many months in advance got the same result as walking up the day of the concert. The conclusion is simple: under no circumstances should you purchase tickets to this venue without getting exact seats before you pay. "Best Available" actually means "we will take your money and deeply disappoint you". They have a "points and priority system", but you should not trust it, the whole ticketing process is clearly flawed. Get exact seats before you pay, or pass. read more

Built through the WPA in the late 30s from Indiana limestone, this is a terrific centerpiece to the IU campus. Great seating arrangement, comfy seats and excellent acoustics. It's a pleasure to enjoy a performance in this venue, and the walk across the lovely, lively campus to reach the building is one of the highlights of any visit. The student volunteers working at each performance are delightful. read more
