I saw some turtles in the swamp and even a turtle on one of the trails laying an egg! The dunes are beautiful. It was cool wating the storm roll in from the ocean. The boardwalk is nice to walk along. They are pet friendly.

This is a free, easy nature walk that takes you through a forest to a beach. One of the best parts for me is that the trails consist of clean boardwalks all the way through. There are maps and educational signs throughout. Perhaps *the* best part was during our visit on a Friday afternoon, the beach was ours alone almost as far as the eye could see in both directions, up and down the coast. Pretty nice. On the trail, we saw Gaillard Lake, a.k.a. "Alligator Lake," and old trees like live oaks and magnolias, and the beautiful tree-filled dunes. I didn't really look for nor notice any interesting birds.

I had to park the car and look up the history of the area to actually understand what was trying to be said. Also, information on the park is located right in front of the bathrooms. We were not able to get out and read it as we had to catch the ferry, but I think the location of it should change. You would only catch it if someone in the group had to use the bathroom. They should place it more central or right in front of the sign for the square. The only true highlight for my sister and I were the trees because it's interesting to us that they have been growing/around for so long.

Yelp really needs to add a category fir splash pads btw. The ground under the playground is cushy in case kids fall. There's a sidewalk that wraps around the whole playground and plenty of benches for the old grownups to sit on. There's also an open space for running and playing. Plus it's fenced in with only two openings which makes it easier for people with little kids. Everything seems well cared for including the bathrooms and water fountains.

if i could leave zero stars i definitely would... i rented the big pavilion for my gender reveal…read morefor august 29th & they approved it august 11th along with confirmed the payment was received, i get there yesterday to start setting up & they had gave our reservation to another family i just so happen to know from out of state that had just gotten here 2 days prior, they then tried to tell me i never paid for it when i showed proof in my account that i had paid for it aswell as a confirmation email that they only send after they've received the payment. they then proceeded to just not at all accommodating me & i ended up having to have my gender reveal UNDER THE BATHROOMS under the concrete slab. i'm beyond pissed & they ruined my entire day, i cried almost my entire gender reveal because my decorations couldn't even come out right because the space was literally horrendous. i had 2 tables for EVERYTHING i had to set up, & only had AT MOST 10 chairs for a party of 60+ people to "sit in".... i will NEVER rent this space for another important event.

This park is off the beaten path, it has portable toilets instead of permanent restrooms. There are six pavilion ms with picnic tables, trashcans, water faucets, and electric light switches that includes two AC outlets to charge your phone, plug in a radio, etc. There are no BBQ pits at this park, so you will need to bring your own portable grill. There is a playground set back far from the road, has newer playground equipment in good conditions plus swing sets. The park also has walkways, a basketball court, and a large open green space directly behind the playground.the park had two small sized parking lots, one by the entrance, and one next to the playground.

My family and I recently came here for the annual 4th of July fireworks show. It was a fantastic experience! Here's a few tips if you're coming for that event: 1) Come early (at LEAST an hour)! This will cut down on your frustrations on attempting to find a place to park. 2) Bring beach chairs. It seems obvious to some, but to those who've never experienced the agony of constantly shifting their weight while waiting for the show to start... just do it. 3) Bring towels, and cold beverages. Again, just trust me on this. You won't regret it. Also, check out the splash pad. The kids absolutely love it. There's plenty of tables on all sides (all within the shade) for parents to sit and watch their littles. The water is set to a timer so after approximately 5 minutes, one of the kids or parents will need to press the big silver button located on the red pedestal. There is also a really nice playground for children along with several bench swings along the fence line closest to the beach. Definitely my favorite park in all of Jackson County.

I am pretty sure there are public restrooms near the baseball concession area, but I did not go there. There were horses grazing in a field with some donkeys just beyond the gazebo.
