We had a fantastic dinner here on Saturday. We were a group of 18 people and I think we overwhelmed them slightly, but the food was delicious and they went out of their way to make sure that we were happy. We were celebrating the lives of two departed friends who had enjoyed this restaurant. Our group brought wine and everyone ordered something different. I couldn't keep up with it all, but I had a delicious lamb korma. It was creamy and flavorful. Other people at the table ordered various dishes, including some tandoori items, a couple of vegetarian dishes and lots of different chicken dishes. They brought us samosas as a complimentary appetizer and we passed everything around. Everything was on point , we all enjoyed the various dishes. The place isn't huge and they were doing takeout as well as serving people who were in house. I think that they have a loyal following. We were a bit hesitant at first because the restaurant was completely empty on a Friday night, but I genuinely think word just hasn't gotten out yet about how delicious this place is. The service was very good, they were understaffed but we never felt that we had a long wait for were neglected. The hospitality goes way beyond white table cloths, it extends through the tone of voice and professional handling of patrons. Each dish we ordered from appetizers to entrees and onto the desserts were exquisitely crafted. All the spices were balanced, aromatic, and flavorful. The owner spent time with us and personally made us understand and appreciate all the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into making these flavors help Foodie dreams come true! We enjoyed so many of the naan breads and the chewy warm poori bread! The spice levels can be adjusted 0-10 (10 being Indian spicy). My husband is much more adventurous with spicy foods than I. And I was so happy to know that I could order plain yogurt for a terrific accompaniment for flavors and also cool down my palate. I've been here a few times and every experience is like the other. The food is decent and the atmosphere is good. White table clothes and dim lighting. What I always experience here, however is the owners are chomping at the bit for one to eat the food and then get out. The restaurant closes at 10 but at 945, the lights got bright and the vacuum started buzzing. The message was clear. It's tacky. Solidly three star establishment. It truly is not amazing and the start time here barely had any truth spinach and neck. Instead it was a pretty solid not amazing creamy sauce with tiny bit of Spanish. It was about five pieces of Panier which were all fine but at the current price point they are definitely under surving and underwhelming. The naan is quite good! Avoid the chef special vegetable dish - the veggies were Fresh and not frozen, which I greatly appreciate, but they were so coated in oil, it may the dish barely edible. We stopped in for brunch without reservations. It was pretty empty in there so it was easy to get a seat. The best part is that this place is BYOB and if you pay with cash you get a 10% discount on your bill. We ordered chicken soup, the fish of the day was snapper, and shrimp saag. Couldn't tell if it was just over cooked, or if that's just how they make it. The lamb in the tikka masala was pretty tough and overcooked. The service was very slow. The High Point for me was dessert... The rice pudding they have is much thicker than what you would normally get, and was rich and delicious! Nothing wrong with this place at all, but nothing exceptional either. A pretty traditional, run-of-the-mill local neighborhood Indian restaurant. I've tried most Indian restaurants in the city and I come back to this place over and over again. It's by far the best for takeout. I've tried making palak paneer like theirs and it's never the same. It's delicious! Get it! I've been doing a lot of portion control this year and one order usually gets me 3 meals. Recently I froze my leftovers and had it again 2 weeks later and it was still delicious. WAY overdue for writing a review of this restaurant. My husband and I eat here regularly. The food is delicious, and the service is great. We're so thankful they're still open during COVID-19! I am one picky Indian food snob :), so I was totally surprised by the offerings at Indian Restaurant (awesome name by the way). Not perfect, but by no means the greasy entrees offered at most Indian restaurants. And with a lack of Indian cuisine in the city, I would totally recommend this place. For apps we started with the samosas (of course). They were flaky and not too spicy. The Imli chutney (the brown tamarind sauce) was great, but I was bummed to see that they did not serve a coriander chutney (wtf- samosas are always served with both :(). The papadams were perfectly crispy and the chana chat was pretty tasty, but not as awesome as the samosas. As for entrees, the lamb vindaloo was absolutely delicious! Perfect pairing of spices and tender lamb meat. The saag paneer was fine (nothing to write home about). The chicken tikka masala was very good, but its my least favorite dish to order at an Indian restaurant. My friends were all raving about it so it seemed to go over well with the group. Been here along with my friends. The place is small but very nice ambience. It is very clean and hygiene too. We've ordered Veg Biryani, Chick Biryani, Roti, Lamb Curry. Really tasty! I wasn't actually sure what to expect when my friends said we were going to eat at "Indian Restaurant." I thought they just meant AN Indian restaurant, not that the name was actually Indian Restaurant. We called ahead to reserve a table because it was Friday night and our attempts at eating ramen were already dashed. Well, when we arrived, there was a nice "Reserved" sign and the restaurant was mostly empty. They have these patio doors that open up to the sidewalk, but they were closed that evening. Service was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the evening, except at the end when it took us a good 10-15 minutes to get the check. So in that respect, a lot of the other reviews are spot-on in indicating that service is odd at the end of your meal. But our water glasses were never empty, and there was a lot of swapping out of plates. Our meal started out with complimentary papadam which are basically lentil crackers. It came with three different chutneys: a spicy chopped onion one was probably the best. The other two were sweet and sour. Each of us got a vegetarian samosa to start out with. I liked that the crust was crisp, but it wasn't too greasy. The filling featured the usual chunks of curried potatoes and peas, but also some carrots as well. This was hot and filling and whetted my appetite for the rest of the meal. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, which was very good, all white meat chunks drowning in a rich tomato cream sauce that almost tasted Italian. It had a slight heat to it. I also really liked the chana-saag which is chick peas and spinach in spices. I thought that this dish would be a bit dull, but they definitely added cream because it had a deliciously rich and creamy texture. It was pretty mild in flavor but also quite good. The tandoori mixed grill featured a couple grilled shrimp, a lot of grilled vegetables, and an assortment of grilled chicken and some lamb as well. The lamb was a bit on the tougher side, but it still tasted really good, as did all of the chicken. It was a really nice assortment and a very large serving size. I didn't try the lamb vindaloo which looked super spicy and had a corresponding chili pepper next to the name on the menu. But my friend said it was excellent. And of course, no meal is complete without naan. I tried both the plain and the onion. I liked the plain a little bit better, if only because it seemed a bit fluffier. They also gave us two plates of basmati rice to go with our meals and sop up all the sauces. The meal ended with a complimentary dish of rice pudding which was not too sweet and had a good texture. I think the bill came out to around $70 for all that food and a mango lassi, which is decent. I would definitely come back if I were in the mood for Indian food again. And they deliver for orders over $15 within 1 mile! read more
