Local organic farm in business for 104 years
Dee M.

Small family farm that's been in business for 104 years that now grows organic fruits and vegetables. Starting this summer 2017 they are selling farm shares and will Cap the number available to a small enough number to keep it manageable and know their customers well. Gail the wife of the son of the previous owners is passionate about their mission to provide organic, sustainable items to the local community. And although I have not met her husband I know he shares the same passion from conversations with her. My interactions at the farmstand with Jackson have been incredibly pleasant. All this makes me happy to support a local farmer. .I have purchased one such fruit share and have been extremely pleased with the quality of the fruits I received thus far. When you raise them organically and with love they just taste better. I hope they stay in business another hundred for years!

My purchase. All organic

So happy to find this family farm via yelp. The entire staff was very friendly and made you feel at home. They helped me find a few things and figure out how to get into the netted areas (by the berries to keep the birds out). My son and I went on a Sunday afternoon and they had a nice crowd. It was great that it was not overwhelmingly crowded where you can't find parking. Organic fruits and veggies are a plus since we try to eat as healthy as possible. $2.50 per person picking fee which is reasonable. The prices for the fruit and veggies were reasonable as well. They have baskets you can carry but if you have a wagon I suggest that you bring it since you need to walk around the farm. It just makes it easier. We picked up blueberries, blackberries and peaches. We wanted to pick some squash but the rain was approaching. They have a very cute store which has unique signs and tons of fresh fruits and veggies. The tomatoes were so beautiful I had to purchase a couple. They also had jarred honey and other unique items. Con - They need a little better signage to find the you pick areas. I didn't see where to go to pick the squash but then again I was rushing. I also didn't see a sign into the blackberry area. They have a pic of a map on the wall which I took a picture of. They gave me their cell in case I get lost on the farm. I suppose it happens since trees/areas start to look alike if you are not used to it. So happy we found this place as we will definitely be back. Plus we were told there is fishing which would be cool.

Pretty bad experience (though we didn't let it ruin our day). they had one line of apple trees we were allowed to pick from, which no one told us until after we had paid to get into the farm. Honestly, it seems like this farm is trying to do a quick cash grab before people find out how terrible it is. They charge for EVERYTHING, even though the quality is ridiculously low. And there are really aggressive and unfriendly signs everywhere. "NO REFUNDS" (which makes sense because they charge so much and you don't realize how little you are getting until later). They even had signs all over their orchard about not eating the apples, which, how could you? given that there are no apples to even pick. Really a ridiculous experience. Better to go for a free walk in the woods behind the farm. Really beautiful.

The charming shop with fall decor.

Had a great time at this organic pick-your-own fruit farm yesterday. You drive down a dirt road to the small parking lot, then check in at the quaint shop. Admission is $2.50 and you get baskets and/or pint containers depending on the fruit you're going to pick. There were a few people standing in line paying for fruit, so a friendly staffer let us go ahead into the fields and said we could pay the admission later. It was all about raspberries and apples that day. Hubby and I had our 2 young nephews in tow, and fortunately it was not a far walk to find the rows of berry bushes. Any row that was open for picking had an orange flag at the end. My nephews loved looking through all the bushes to find the ripe ones with the dark red color, although they preferred that we adults do the actual picking, since the plants had small thorns. (It was a good opportunity to explain that some plants have thorns to protect them from predators like birds and animals.) Then it was on to the apples, and there were so many varieties! We went for the Golden Delicious, Mutsu and Fuji ones. Each tree was clearly labeled, which was great. (And again, another learning opportunity for the kids was explaining how to tell when each variety is ripe, since they are different colors; also fruits don't have to look perfect to taste delicious.) After picking, you take your stash to the cashier at the shop, where they also sell already-picked produce, plus jars of honey and cute gifts. I bought a painted wooden sign for my sister-in-law with an inspirational saying about moms. As an aunt, this was a perfect fall afternoon with the nephews. If you're bringing kids, I would suggest sneakers or boots and long pants, since the grass can be high in some places (this is a farm, after all). Also, if their skin is sensitive, wear long sleeves and gardening gloves to protect their arms and hands when they're reaching through branches to pick fruit.

Went to the spring car show. This is my 3 rd year going. They get lots of old and classic cars and…read morethey do a flea market as well. They have a pizza truck that serves very good personal pies. The car show gets a few hundred cars. If you want to enter your car it's $20 cash at the gate. They give you a small tin plaque and a registration card for your window. Since my car isn't winning any awards I don't stay till 3 pm to await the judges choices. My car is nice, but not prize winning nice but that's ok. It's a fun few hours. It got too hot by noon to stay longer. Weather in early May is tricky. Highly recommend checking out the car show. The general store on the grounds is huge. Bought lots of stuff to take home.

We had to get our own quarters as the coin exchange machine was broken. Around the noon we head to the Linvilla Grill. They had some good pizza and chicken tenders. There were few outdoor benched to dine. Price was little steep. The freshly squeezed lemonade was outrageous. They make the whole thing by grinding lemon right in front and put it in a huge plastic 32 oz jar. It is so worth for $8. We also bought some peaches and cooking sauces from the market. Cash is preferred, for credit card they charge fee at the market checkout.
