We sat next to a regular who loved coming here after work. Any place with a regular is a good in my book. - Fish Pakoras: Crispy and fishy, reminded me of an Indian version of bacalaitos. - Palak Paneer: creamy and green, just the way I like it. - Navratan Korma: creamy, sweet, and raisins. Not impressed with this place at all. Order chicken tikka and Chana masala and both were under seasoned and over cooked. I'm not sure what garbanzo beans were used for the Chana masala but they were harder than should be to eat. The chicken was over cooked and hard to chew with little flavor. If half stars were a thing, I'd give this place 3,5. I was in Munich and had a weekend of eating German food and crap stuff for dinners in the Alps. I needed something with intense flavor and found this place on Yelp. I was looking for something super cheap and it had the 'one euro' sign beside it meaning it was right in my price range. It was so easy to find as it was right off of the main road going towards the Isar. I picked a table outside since it was sunny and absolutely perfect weather. The waiter was quick to attend to me and gave me a menu. I was very shocked to find the vegetarian dishes were 10 euros. That is not a 'one euro' sign to me. In Frankfurt, a city known for being more expensive than Munich, I can get a good veggie curry for less than 7 Euros. Never the less, I ordered a Kerala curry for 9,95. It automatically comes with rice and I ordered a beer to the side. I also asked for it to come out spicy and I made sure to say this in English so he knew I wasn't German (no offense- Germans have low tolerance for spice compared to many other places). The curry came out in about 3 minutes. I found that to be a little strange... like a Tex-Mex restaurant in the US. I am all about being prompt and efficient, but 3 minutes or less makes me question things. Either way, I was hungry so it was fine. OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS. I have had spicy food in Indonesia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Jamaica, etc.... but NOTHING was as spicy as this curry was. Holy freaking hell. I cried eating it. I drank my entire beer within five minutes. I have the highest tolerance of spice of anyone I know on the planet, so for me to say this- I mean it. My lips tingled for hours after eating this and it gave me heartburn- something I've never once in my life suffered from. I couldn't complain about it because I asked for it spicy, just never imagining it would come out at this level. The only recommendation I would have is to maybe use some fresh herbs or a splash of citrus on the Kerala curry. It is a sweet, coconuty curry that really needed some cilantro atop it, or even just a slice of lime with it. May not be the traditional thing, but it would have helped overcome the sweetness. But the chili did that anyways... Despite hardly being able to taste it, it was rather good. Good enough to warrant a 4 star rating on Yelp, I believe. The best thing about this place is the fact that they offer loads of vegetarian dishes. They have some chicken and mutton/lamb dishes as well. Most dishes are southern Indian, but they do have some options for lovers of the north, too. I was impressed by the selections on their menu, especially having three paneer dishes available to customers! If you want to order a dosa, you must call ahead 24 hours to place the order (just a side note). I was content eating here and would probably go back there if in Munich. read more

Amazing food! Service was great! Everything from the chutney to the Gulab jamun was delicious. The cooking is authentic southern style, which was perfect for my visiting Indian in-laws who were craving a little taste of home. The spice was just right (which, if you are used to authentic Indian food, you know is very hard to find in Germany). The service was great as well, the waiter, a nice young man from Deli, was accommodating and kind. Price was around 50 for all the dishes we ordered below. We order: tandoori chicken, so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Curry given on the side was amazing! lamb biryani, so tender and succulent! Palak paneer, delicious vegetarian option; curry went great with the fluffy white rice. Butter and regular naan, fluffy and soft with perfect amount of butter. Raita, the perfect addition to any of the dishes. Gulab jamun, served hot and fresh, very juicy and sweet. Ras malai, cold and refreshing after a delicious meal. We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident on our last day in München and as far as I know they don't have a location in Berlin. My only regret is that we will not be able to return until our next visit to München. Overall a solid Indian spot if you're craving some authentic cooking! read more

Conveniently located off the Isator stop, this restaurant might be one of my favorites. Nice variety of dishes and service is friendly. 7 euros for a lunch special? I'm there. It was just what the doctor ordered after spending way too much time past lunch at the Deutsches Museum. We also had some papadums on the side. Finally don't be afraid of asking them to up the spice level on your dish. By default it is fairly mild. Beware, if you're feeling like water, you might as well order a Mango Lassi here: it's cheaper. Then swing by the DM and get a water later. read more

I came here because I was told that this is one of the few places in Munich where one can find southern Indian food. Well, the restaurant doesn't specialise in southern Indian food per se, as they offer northern dishes as well, but I still feel like I did something right with my Sunday by coming here. I was famished and looking for vegetarian options (part of my recent healthy eating initiative). The menu here clearly presents not just vegetarian but also vegan options. I ordered the dal palak and the person I was with had the myore dal. At first, I was a little doubtful that I'd leave full. I'm a guy who usually finishes other's people's food, and the bowls they brought out to serve us our dishes and our rice just didn't cause any "wow" effect in terms of size. I did indeed deep into the myore dal, but out of lust, not hunger! The seasoning was great. So savory, so complex, each spoonful enticing me on to the next until that cruel moment where I was faced with the choice of 1) licking my bowl clean or 2) abiding by the convention of not licking restaurant bowls clean and accepting the fact that all good things must come to an end. I ended up deciding somewhere in the middle. The prices here are great, and in the end I really appreciate that they bring out a reasonable amount of rice instead of a pile big enough to play hide-and-seek in. It made me think and wonder how much rice other Indian restaurants end up wasting as a result of extravagance. The atmosphere here is super relaxed, and not at all like the fancy dining experiences that most Indian restaurants offer. I like that. It means I can enjoy my food at a great price and not have to worry which fork I'm using. Central location right near Isartor makes this a no-brainer - I'll definitely be coming here again! read more

Delicious Food. This prices are reasonable and the restaurant has so many items on the menu that can be made vegan. The food is plentiful (we had to take food home because we could not finish it) and delicious. The Naan bread is best I have ever had and so often other Indian restaurants cannot make it vegan. Many vegan and vegetarian options and they give you two sauces with the veggie pakoras - which were nice because while they were fried, they weren't overwhelmingly greasy. I usually go with friends, about 3 of us all together... and 2 currys always suffice. Add a little Naan bread and a Mango Lassi. Winner. Its small but big enough to find a seat. I was there recently, and I would go back there again! The food is as good as it gets for an Indian traveling in Europe and finding true Indian food. The chefs ensured that the spice levels are perfect, and the chicken curry, rice and naan I ordered were delicious enough to make me come back again for dinner. Of course I enjoyed the Masala chai -- ordered it to go again after lunch. The dinner had fish curry and rice -- Am yet to find such fish curry at other places. Das erste was man wissen muss: das ist nicht ein Restaurant. Die Atmosphäre, die Einrichtung, die allgemeine Stimmung ist nicht was man bei einem edlen Restaurant gewöhnt ist. Da ist man hier ganz falsch. Aber ist man auf der Suche nach einem angenehmen Örtchen zum zusammen sitzen und was leckeres essen, wo der Chef einem persönlich grüßt, manchmal auch selber bedient und sogar ein angenehmes Gespräch anbietet, wo Geschmack, freundlichen und schnellen Service, Wohlfuhlfaktor, Sauberkeit und einen günstigen Preis viel wichtiger ist als die üblichen Feinheiten eines Restaurants, dann ist man hier genau richtig. Pro: Für mich war hier sehr angenehm. Für einen Inder echt günstig, aber nicht auf Kosten der Qualität von Essen. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass es auch für Studenten sehr interessant sein könnte. Contra: leider nicht geeignet für ein Business Essen oder ähnliches. Es ist eher Wirtshaus Atmosphäre als Restaurant. Nicht viel Platz. Und die offene Küche bietet regt den Appetit alleine mit den Gerüchen, aber falls jemand was scharfes bestellt, dann muss man auch mit tränen und hustenanfall kämpfen. Worth it for the lunch special. During lunch hours (11:30-3:00PM) you can get certain main dishes for just 5.50-6.50EUR. We had the chicken curry for 5.50 and and a spicy masala dish for 6.50. Only downside was that both dishes tasted exactly the same so I didn't quite get what the price difference was for. The food tasted great though and I think that you won't get a better deal than that anywhere in Munich where even lunch "specials" costs 9EUR+ most of the time. Though I would have loved for our food to have the variety of flavor to it that we all know and love from Indian restaurants, I can not complain about the quality. Definitely worth a try, especially for such a low price. The reason why it only gets 3 stars from me is because of one more additional criticism: we walked in and didn't get served until we had to make ourselves noticed by the chef. The restaurant was pretty empty and the server was nowhere to be found. The chef was very sweet but didn't speak German or English so he didn't know what we wanted. Once our server appeared, we were seated. But he took forever to bring us menus and then to take our orders too. It is not that big of a deal but the restaurant was empty so it was a little weird why he would disappear so often. read more
