    Nice atmosphere. Great food,.

It's a truly authentic Indian restaurant with the food and music all reminding me of restaurants in India. The service is outstanding and they really explain the options for you and make sure they deliver on your expectations, including customer dishes. One really impressive service on my last visit where one of the staff moved his car to allow me to park near the restaurant entrance on a rainy day - this was to me going the extra extra mile.

My husband and I came here while visiting Munich. We loved this place so much we came two times within two days! The food is incredible and the staff is very friendly. We wish we had this place at home!

Our cocktails were a lot of fun. I discovered here the Don Papa rum, which is from my home country of the Philippines, where I didn't even know they made rum. It was sweet and smooth; I wish I could remember which house cocktail I had them sub it in for. I do think the dal makhani could have done with several more hours of simmering, but most restaurants do a quick cook on this favorite lentil dish of mine. Like a lot of Munich, Madam Chutney is dog-friendly. My friend's 70-pound dog, Lola, made us a whole table of friends! I was stunned the wait staff was tolerant of it.

An Unexpected Gem in Munich, We Came Back the Very Next Day!…read more What an incredible surprise! We had just landed in Munich from the US and were craving some really good Indian food. By chance, we discovered Madam Chutney, and what started as simply looking for a good meal turned into an out-of-this-world dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious fresh, flavorful, beautifully spiced, and genuinely finger-licking good. Every dish was bursting with authentic Indian flavors and had that wonderful combination of spice, aroma, and comfort that makes you want to keep eating long after you're full! We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day to eat the same food all over again! When you're visiting Munich for only a short time and choose to return to the same restaurant two days in a row, that probably says everything. The atmosphere, the food, and the whole experience made Madam Chutney one of those unexpected discoveries that becomes a highlight of your trip. If you're in Munich and love Indian food, don't miss Madam Chutney. Come hungry, you may find yourself coming back the next day, just like we did! Five stars from us, absolutely delicious and unforgettable!

In the sense they tend to add a dash of curry sauce or curry flavoring in their fillings for both meat and vegetables that give it a unique taste that I have only seen served in Nepal. I hear their Thalis are excellent, so I hope to be back to try that out. 22 euros for this meal in the picture meanwhile. A but on the expensive side but Nepali restaurants are a rarity...

Also most Nepalese can speak English, and the dude could speak English quite well, even though he said he hasn't practiced in many years. The place is small. They have maybe a few tables inside and outside. Luckily, it wasn't that busy when we came. I would advise sitting outside. It was super-hot inside. They have a big menu. Everything looked good. I tried their momo or dumplings. It was like your traditional Chinese dumplings, but the fillings had more of an Indian flavor. Nepal uses a lot of spices similar to India. I loved the flavors. It was so different, yet familiar to me. Their Veggie Dal Bhat is your basic vegetarian platter with Dal (lentil soup), potatoes, chickpeas, and other veggie goodness. They all had great flavor from the many spices they used. They also have a bunch of fried noodle dishes, so I tried one. It came with chili sauce, that reminded me of sambal oelek. The noodle were cooked well, and I liked the flavor. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the food. It's a great place to check out if you're near the Ostbahnhof (munich east station) and want to take a break from all the heavy, Bavarian foods.

As a born and bred South…read moreIndian when I walk into a South Indian restaurant, I am very critical as, if they cannot do it better than me then, it's not worth it. I had this stuff three times a day for 20 some odd years and, also learnt to cook it from my mom ;-)) As I suspected, I can do this heaps better myself but, for Munich, it is pretty good, hence the three stars. It really is 2.5 stars for me. The menu has a handful of South Indian dishes in it but it's not a South Indian menu. The main thing I wanted to try here was dosa. Unfortunately for me it lacked flavour and seasoning. The dosa itself had good texture and done well however, the taste let it down. The coconut chutney that came with it was made from powdered coconut and it was ordinary at best. The South Indian mixed vorspeise was a bit disappointing and lacked flavour. It's suited to the German palette and not an Indian one. Service was very friendly and the guy who welcomed us was very nice. The place is big with lots of outdoor seating and a nice way to spend an evening. I may go back here again but it's too far from home and I would have to really think hard before I do. I did not have high expectations when we decided to go here and my expectations were met. An ok place for South Indian food in Munich. Not really authentic but it will do. As a lover of South Indian food I will have to keep looking for a place where I can have this food made the way I like it ;-))
