Nepal Haus was an amazing find in Munich. It seems to be run by one dude. I don't know if he cooks…read moreas well. Hopefully, he has a cook in the back.
This place looks pretty authentic. Also most Nepalese can speak English, and the dude could speak English quite well, even though he said he hasn't practiced in many years.
The place is small. They have maybe a few tables inside and outside. Luckily, it wasn't that busy when we came. I would advise sitting outside. It was super-hot inside.
They have a big menu. Everything looked good.
I tried their momo or dumplings. It was like your traditional Chinese dumplings, but the fillings had more of an Indian flavor. Nepal uses a lot of spices similar to India. I loved the flavors. It was so different, yet familiar to me.
Their Veggie Dal Bhat is your basic vegetarian platter with Dal (lentil soup), potatoes, chickpeas, and other veggie goodness. They all had great flavor from the many spices they used.
They also have a bunch of fried noodle dishes, so I tried one. It came with chili sauce, that reminded me of sambal oelek. The noodle were cooked well, and I liked the flavor.
The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the food. It's a great place to check out if you're near the Ostbahnhof (munich east station) and want to take a break from all the heavy, Bavarian foods.
