No frills just good food! First time at the Indian Bistro. It's the favorite restaurant for someone we knew that lived in Arlington Heights. High prise I thought and I think I've gotten the love for Indian Bistro too! There's several tables available for dine in, but I think it's more a takeaway place. They had a table reserved for 8 in the corner by the front and apparently we were the honored party as we had the opportunity to dine there as we needed two tables. It's the best seat I thought since they literally handed the food to me over the counter once it was plated. The staff is super friendly and they made sure that our food was absolutely piping hot upon service. The value is solid. We had the chicken 65, butter chicken, and hakka noodles. While I thought the hakka noodles were a tad on the softer side the flavor was awesome. Butter chicken was rich and flavorful and the chicken 65 was my fav, reminded me of a similar Chinese dish. Ordered for pick-up via Uber Eats. I was very disappointed in the amount of rice that and the lack of chicken that came with the chicken tikka masala. For how much they charge, I would've expected a lot more. Other Indian restaurants typically give a lot more rice. The flavor was good but the chicken sort of tasted rubbery. My husband liked the chicken 65 and we both liked the roti. Most likely won't order from here again but glad we tried. read more

We came in on a weekend evening and the place was not busy, but they did have some to go orders going out and even what seemed like a large catering order. We grabbed some menus and decided what to order and went up to the counter to place the order. We ordered the butter chicken, chicken 65 and the hakka noodles. Everytime we go for Indian food I feel like we forget how spicy it can be even if there is no spicy level mentioned. The chicken 65 was good reminiscent of tandoori chicken also served with fresh onions. The hakka noodles was definitely super spicy and packed a lot of heat. The flavor was good and the portion was decent. The butter chicken came in a half soup container filled and a small bowl of rice. Could have used more rice for this dish. The flavors were good for everything, will have to come back and try some more things on the menu. read more

Casual feeling Indian place that has some pretty spicy things to get. Indian Bistro looks pretty crummy inside, which isn't the worst thing about it to be honest. Seems to be one of the few places in Palatine for Indian food though. Maybe it's not exactly clean inside. There's quite a few vegetarian items, which is a good thing but there's high prices and tiny ass portions. After finding out there was an Indian place as we were going through here, we came in. It looks pretty basic, almost like a fast food restaurant. That could have been a sign. Has a pretty laid back atmosphere, where most of the guys working here were watching some cricket game. There's not a whole lot of room inside, but there's a few tables. It has a lunch special which saves a few bucks. It's about $8 for a small amount but it wasn't quiet among us. Only on weekdays. It comes with rice and a salad. There's chicken and lamb choices for meat, and there's lots of vegetarian choices too. Got it with the Baigan Bhartha. This is eggplant, and it had pretty good spice. Could have been cooked more. The plate wasn't exactly full and it felt like kind of a ripoff. Has some pretty okay choices if you don't have too high of expectations. I want to like this place. Ordered the chicken tikka masala lunch special, veggie pakora and samosas. Veggie pakora and samosas were pretty good and the chutney sauces were delicious, especially the mint one. It's a diner style environment, order via counter service. They got my order ready in about 10 minutes, it seemed fairly busy with people coming in and out for their orders. They have good ratings, but the chicken lunch special didn't do it for me, it seemed a little bland and not the usual Indian spice I always seek. I grew up with quite a few Indian friends and in a neighborhood with quite a few restaurants so I'm familiar with the food and the flavor it usually has. read more

An Palatine Indian gem! I have been coming here for around 7-8 years at this point. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in the area. The inside of the restaurant is small, and seats around 15 people, but it is clean and welcoming. Employees/owners are very nice. Their pricing is a tiny bit higher than average, but most of the food includes a small container of rice which is nice, and makes up for the little extra they charge. Food quality is very good, and the food is delicious. I wish they had naan, but I know Indian restaurants from some regions don't always have naan, but they do have other breads like roti and paratha. Can't go wrong with this place! This place is a rather tasty option in the suburbs. You order at the front and they will call your number. On this particular day we went, the wait from order to table, was an hour. This is a good lunch spot if you are looking for Indian food without ordering too much. There is a lunch special which comes with basmati rice and a just right portion of dishes you can pick from a set list. Because there were three of us, and a couple recommended couple dishes from the Indo-Chinese menu, we ordered a few more items in addition to the lunch special. Overall, the food was good. A little hole in the wall spot where you order at the counter and take a seat. We ordered chicken 65, veg samosas, chicken vindaloo, chicken kadai and tawa roti. I was shocked when I ordered garlic naan, only to find out they don't do naan. WHAT?! As for the food, the consistency of the chicken vindaloo was pretty runny, lacked a bit of flavor and the quality of the chicken wasn't the best. The potato in this dish was also different. I've only had it as large chunks, but this place has it as small cubes in the dish, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing... just different. Other than that, everything else was decent. We ordered via Uber eats. Tried them for the first time and it actually turned out to be very good. I have been Thinking of trying them for over a year but yesterday I did and it was actually good. We ordered red chili fried rice - they were OK. And then we ordered paneer tikka masala - that was really good. We also ordered Hakka noodles -They were also very very good. And we ordered my favorite my all-time favorite egg biryani and guess what I really loved it but you all need to know that they do not serve biryani with salanThey didn't give some raita with the Biryani. India how could I fake forget the appetizers -For appetizers we ordered Gobi (cauliflower) Manchurian. They make Manchurian only As dry. Even I called them and asked him to make it Semi gravy they refused that they will not make it so but yeah it was actually good it wasn't that bad. So the good news is now I'm gonna definitely order from them again I'll probably do a takeout as they are just like five I'm not even five maybe four minutes drive from my house and definitely going to try other items on the menu. I'm sorry I forgot to take the pictures as when we got the food we were super super hungry and just started eating as we got it and forgot to take the pictures. Next time definitely will post pictures of all the items that we order. But as a review, I would definitely say it's worth a try. This is my bestie's favorite Indian spot so when we had a girls' night, these were the eats we feasted on. We went pretty basic with Butter Chicken ($9) and Tikka Masala ($9) but sometimes being basic is good. Both poultry dishes were boneless which made me happy. I enjoyed the lot of them quite a bit but just fell in love with the Chicken Tikka Masala - just the right amount of creaminess, tomato, garlic and spices. YUM OVERLOAD. Wow! So glad Indian Bistro is close to home and STILL doing great over the past 2 decades! I was craving South Indian food last night but unfortunately, my favorite go-to restaurant- Priya in Schaumburg- didn't have a working website! So, I adjusted my craving to North Indian food and decided to order online from Indian Bistro instead! It was the RIGHT choice! I previously ordered from them in June 2021--the food and service then was great! This time, I ordered even more food--almost $180 (including 20% tip)! My order was ready 5 minutes early, was accurate--and most importantly, absolutely hot, fresh and mind-blowingly delicious and comforting, in light of this weekend's horrible arctic weather!!! The inside of the restaurant was clean, minimalist in decor and brightly lit. Not that many diners inside that freezing cold night, BUT there were a TON of take orders that were after mine, in the process of being cooked! Anyway, I'm so glad I ordered from these guys again! If you Blind-tasted the, you would pay atleast double. Hands down the best Indian food there is!! I once went there about 10 years back. Been going back there ever since. Grabbed food from here Friday night. My first time from an Indian restaurant so I don't have much comparison but everything was phenomenal. One of those nights that I ate til I was stuffed then snuck back down to the fridge a couple hours later and finished it off. So flavorful and a nice change from other cuisine's spices. Ordered: buttered chicken-really good, could have had a bit more chicken but also nice having extra sauce and making more chicken at home to stretch the dish! Mango milkshake-different than what I expected. Tastes like mango purée. Veggie samosas-the brown sauce that came with this was off the charts! Have gone here a few times for lunch. Tried it now for dinner. Had a samosa chat and paneer kathi roll to split as appetizers. So very unique and so good. I could see wanting the kathi for a breakfast burrito with a cup of tea. The pineapple lassi I got was so creamy and smooth. Maybe a touch light in pineapple flavor but hey if that's the pineapple it just is. Still very good. The main meal I got was the navratna korma. A vegetarian dish of creamy sauce and spices and herbs with vegetables to put over white rice. Rich and delicious. The kheer for dessert was good too. Creamy and tasty rice pudding dish. Only wish it had a rose water flavor. Not sure if it was just light on it or the place chooses not to add this particular ingredient. Still good though. The place was crowded with people picking up for takeout since I guess they don't just call people when it's ready and they were running about a half hour behind. When we called to place the order they had said an hour and forty minutes but it took two hours and 10 minutes. People were certainly getting annoyed but I understand a place can't always know the exact amount of time. They were doing things a little out of order as in if they had multiple of the same dish ordered amongst different orders they were just making more and doing it at once. I personally understand and appreciate this as it saves time overall and saves on waste but some people were annoyed with this. They were doing things as efficiently as they thought they could. With how much business there was not a single mistake on our order and everything was still done with high quality and attention to detail so I'm fine with the extra wait. It just would have been easier if we all waited in our cars, at home or wherever we wanted and they had our phone numbers and called when they were delayed and then called when they were ready. All in all the food is delicious with some unique dishes I don't often find at other Indian places and even if a little inconvenient it's good to see a local business doing well especially in these covid 19 reactions times. read more

I'm a Fan! I hope this place succeeds. It's a small, local business, with honest, hard-working folks making your dinner right in front of your face. I was out driving around one night, trying to kill time and find some dinner. This came up in my Yelp stream and I thought "YES". I'm gonna try it - perfect. Found the place no problem, right across from the Home Depot in Palatine in a little strip center. When you walk in, it's a long, narrow restaurant. There's a bunch of little tables along the side of the wall (typical quick lunch place), not really for formal dinners or anything. I reviewed the menu, was greeted by a super-friendly man who took my order, and they proceeded to cook everything fresh right then and there! I'd say I waited about ten minutes, which is totally reasonable and I was in no rush. I was enjoying taking it all it - and seeing how this place runs. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masalla - which is my most favorite Indian dish there is. I was not overly stoked with their version of it. It was a bit more "yellow" than the typical bright orange, and very creamy. It was still good, it just wasn't my favorite. The chicken itself seemed good, and the rice was primo. Their Samosas were to DIE FOR. VERY good. One thing i was very disappointed in was they do not carry Naan!! Who doesn't carry naan? It's a staple item. Portion size was ok. PRICES: Samosa $2.99, Chicken Tikka Masala $8.99, Extra rice $1.75, Can of Coke $1.00, = all together came to $16.21 for ONE meal. Prices seem somewhat fair compared to local indian places. Portions could be just a smidge larger so maybe there's leftovers for next day and then it would seem more like two meals. I haven't been EXCITED about a place in a long time. I think between the fact that the folks here were so nice, and that they're trying to make good, fresh, food - I'm hopeful for this place to really succeed and I will recommend to all! I have ordered carry out from Indian bistro twice now and have not been disappointed in the food. I have tried a variety of pander dishes as well as the butter chicken and curry chicken. The only thing I wish is that they had naan instead of the thinner alternative. The lassi is amazing here as well.
