While the food was good, I putting this place at two because of service/information issues. Stopped by here on two different Sundays (dinner and lunch). When I came for dinner, I wasn't aware of the buffet that was going on and ended up ordering my samosa and lamb curry. Don't think they had lamb curry, but they still had a number of decent dishes. My waiter gave me naan, which I didn't realize was a separate charge. Really think naan should be part of the meal. I was also given tea, which I didn't order, and told the owner which she didn't charge me for after I brought it up. Since I was told the buffet was on Sunday, I came back for lunch only to find out the buffet is Sunday dinner only. Course, the buffet was only for dinner, so ended up paying the menu price. Expensive lunch. The buffet information is not on their Web site. Found that very annoying. read more

Great atmosphere, and the staff were very nice and attentive. The menu had all our favorite Indian dishes we love and then some, both in German and English and our waiter spoke English and German. Everything came out timely and kept warm on a warming tray. The food was delicious and the spice level was exactly what we asked for. We'll be going back for sure. Good Vegan Option While some Indian restaurants are comfortable with vegetarian cooking, this restaurant was comfortable cooking for vegans. Their menu has a vegetable section that listed vegetarian options and as long as you know the Indian word for cheese it was easy to figure out which items were probably vegan, and then from there I confirmed with the server that my selection was vegan. Good flavor and vegetable combinations. Staff friendly and helpful. The portions and the prices were probably in line for the area, I thought portions on the small side and prices on the high side. It was annoying that they do not serve tap water so I like spicy food and that was an expensive addition of bottles of water for the table. I was sharing the bill but I think they also charge to refill rice. They brought one small bowl of rice for 3 adults, I thought that was odd/expensive. A cozy restaurant with a comfortable decor, perfect for quiet meals. Ample seating. Buffet on Sunday for lunch is 14 euro. My vegetable dish was like 10 euro plus water and plus more rice, like 15 euro when we split the rice and water. The bread is NOT vegan. read more

India House has a very special place in our hearts. We lived in Germany for 5 years and this was our "go-to" place for comfort food. We recently moved away and we miss it very much. Our favorite day to go was on Sundays after church. The food is always fresh and filled with love. The owner became like family over time and every time we walked in we were greeted by name. Living overseas can be hard, so whenever someone treats you like family in a foreign environment, it warms your heart. Plus the food is out of this world amazing! I would definetly recommend this little, underground restaurant if you're looking for a calm, quiet place to unwind and fulfill your Indian cuisine cravings. Parking is available underground. Use the garage located by the Cafe Am Markt. Turn right upon entering the garage and park straight on. A side door will lead you down a hall and into this hidden gem. You may also use the main street enterance to enter. If you prefer to take the train it is a 5-7 minute walk from the station. Cash payment is preferred. ATM is located right around the corner. Good Indian food is relatively easy to find. Great India food with a non-cheesy atmosphere is a little more difficult. Silly delicious Indian food with a non-cheesy atmosphere and a phenomenal staff is near impossible. Finding all of that with underground parking and a garage-access door to the restaurant so you can go day, night, rain, show, or shine? Piece of cake. India House in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. We regularly eat here. Lunch, dinner, large events with friends, date nights, huge take-out orders for parties at home, or just a quick lunch... it's always been 100% reliable. The staff speaks English well, is very attentive, and is extremely proficient at making recommendations on dishes, portions, drinks, amount of spice (they adjust based on requests), and everything else. The food is always hot and very flavorful! The naan bread is to die for. Seriously. Get it and get lots of it. They also have Indian wine and beer that are good and round-out the full Indian fare. Yes, even in the land of great beer, having an Indian beer is acceptable! Final thoughts on this place... EASY ACCESS. You can use the underground parking garage under the Marketplace in Vahingen and access the restaurant back door direct from the garage. We lived in the Stuttgart area for three years. We tried Kashmire a couple times, but we always came back to India House. If you're an American, just getting here PLEASE keep in mind that service is A LOT SLOWER in Europe/Germany then in the US. The first time we came here we were upset because it took so long for us to even order our drinks, but once you're used to the relaxed way of dinning in Europe it's not such a bad thing. As far as the food is concerned... It always came out fresh and hot. My favorite dish was the Murg Tikka Massala, sehr, sehr, sehr, scharff (normally it's not a spicy dish so I ordered it very very very spicy)... The basmati rice and garlc naan compliment just about every meal perfectly... or the cheese naan... whichever you prefer. The wait staff are very friendly and if you take the time to get to know them, they can even be quite amusing and funny, and fun to talk to. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is the buffet. I never really cared for it, probably because I liked my tikka masalla just the way I explained above, and you can't get it that way in the buffet... I had the samosas, tandoori chicken and shared buttered naan with a friend. My food was wonderful. The texture of the tandoori chicken was spot on and they indulged my palate by making it spicy (just ask, they appreciate those with a versatile palate). Drinks were served immediately and although we arrived about 45mins before they closed, we received a welcoming atmosphere, wonderful service and fresh, hot food. The naan was made fresh. Soft but with a slight char (reminded me of the Indian families house I previously ate where the grandmother threw down!!). unfortunately from what we could see they did not have outside seating and with the obnoxiously loud group of 10 men outside seating would've been ideal (or idea for them). My only complaint was the group of men huddled in front of the restaurant smoking when we arrived so we had to walk through all of it and them. but we called ahead and they encouraged us to come since it was close to closing. short walk from the Marriott Frankfurt if you're staying there. read more

Dinner was very good. The Dal was tasty and not gritty, also enjoyed the slice of lemon that they added which gave the Dal a very fresh taste. The Lamb Masala was excellent just the portion was small but good for one person but a bit pricey. I also had the Aloo Parathra and that was a perfect balance of herbs and potatoes. Wow - we have heard from several people that India House is the place to go in the area and I can see why. Our food was probably the best Indian food we have had, which is saying a lot since my husband and I eat Indian pretty regularly. I had the butter chicken, as I am not a fan of spicy Indian and it was fantastic. The chicken was so tender and flavorful. We also ordered the garlic naan, which had just the right amount of garlic flavor and the pakora sampler which was again the best I have had. Having just watched "100 Foot Journey" at the movie theater up the street, we were in the mood for Indian food. Thanks to a quick search on Yelp and we found this restaurant within 300 meters! Went there for lunch. There is a parking garage attached the location, so parking is easy. We ate from the buffet as we were short on time. The food was all good on the buffet. The menu had several popular indian dishes and based on the tasty buffet I would imagine the menu item would be just as good. Family friendly casual atmosphere. Went to this place after it was highly recommended by a few friends. Loved that there is an entrance from the underground parking lot. The decor of the restaurant was minimal and maybe a little dated but the place was very clean. When my daughter exclaimed she needed to go to the bathroom I was a little apprehensive since I've read reviews that they were not sanitary but when we walked in, again dated decor but the bathrooms were spotless. We came in knowing that the food would take sometime. We ordered the Samosas and they were very good. My husband ordered the chicken curry and I ordered the chicken tikka masala. Both were good portions and delicious, and the rice as well. I ordered the mango lissa which was very good. We also ordered the garlic naan. This is without a doubt the best Indian Restaurant in Stuttgart. I know that is not difficult, but I would say that the food is close to the standard you get in English Indians ! Fresh ingredients make all the difference. I would reccomend the Chicken Jalfrezi, but of course make sure you ask for it Scharf, unless you are german of course as this could well kill you! I felt almost disgusted when I read a few unjustifiedly bad smug critics against India House written by Swabians who probably have no idea what good English Indian food is supposed to be. As an enthusiastic Indian food fan from East Asia, who used to live in London and have tried out almost all Indian restaurant available in Stuttgart, I must say that this restaurant is definitely the best one in this city. Hightly recommend also by many of my friends. If you are not sure what to order, try Butter Chicken. I don't know where else you can get such a perfect one. Lamb dishes as well as vegetalian dishes including Indian cheese curries are absolutely delicious, too. Its spacious and clean interior makes you feel at home. The service might not be that quick, but that's what you expect in a good Indian restaurant where freshly made food is offered. Besides, I don't find the prices higher than any other well-known Indian restaurants in Germany. As a comparison, I'm aware that many people think Ganesha in Stuttgart-Ost is a very good Indian restaurant, for example. However, I have a very low opinion about that restaurant - food is too salty (perhaps adjusted to German insensitive tongues), tables are crammed and service is not very effective, either. If India House, only 1 min. walk from the U-Bahn station in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, is not very well-accessible, Ganesha is certainly not better. read more

I have been a regular visitor to India house over the last 3 years and I can say with confidence that this should count as one of the best in business here in Stuttgart. This restaurant must rank high in terms of ambience, food quality, options for vegetarians and non vegetarians, and overall experience. On the low side, one might face a poor service quality but we this being a new restaurant, we can safely hope that things will pick up. read more
